FUN FACT ABOUT THE XIV: The RAF couldn't find enough enemy aircraft to attack, so they deliberately went over France at about 12,000 feet, looking like sitting ducks, tempting the Luftwaffe to attack them. The XIV was superior to the 109 and the 190 at every altitude, but particularly at 12,000 feet and below. Aircraft attacked from behind will always tend to break in the direction favoured by the airscrew's rotation. Attacking fighters would know and anticipate this, but the Griffon rotated in the opposite direction. By '44, allied aircrew tended to have better training and more hours in cockpit than their enemies. So the sitting ducks were actually predators, not prey. Nice pilot respect with the wingtip a little after 6:20. This is _the_ best WWII (and WW1) flight sim and goddamn I miss it. Time to get back in. Still haven't played on the normandy map.
The early 109's and Spitfires were fundamentally different types of fighter...the 109 an energy boom-and-zoom, the Spit a maneuvering dogfighter. As power levels and weights grew during the wartime development, the Spit gained the vertical edge over the 109 without losing its manuevering advantage.
The only limitation to its ability to fight is the stamina of the pilot. It's a beast. It still has the maneuverability of other Spitfires but also has much better speed.
The fighter version of the Mosquito is in development for the Battle of Normandy expansion. Heavy Strategic bombers are not planned at the moment but that may change in the future.
Great graphics but surely they could have done something to make the engine noise more authentic? The RR Griffon makes a beautiful powerful unique sound not this lawnmower rattle!
I cringe when players keep shooting planes that arent in the fight any longer. That 109 was touching down as you put rounds into it, and then circle round for a salute as he lay dead in the cockpit...

Great video!
I read a comment somewhere on TH-cam that no Mark VIX was lost in air-to-air combat. Do you know if this is a fact?
@@MarsFKA I think that's "XIV", or 14.
I've never heard of that.
@@raypurchase801 Sorry - I fat-fingered. XIV it is. I've read it a couple of times, but have had no confirmation.
@@MarsFKA That's OK, I'm a spelin Narzi and litrully Hilter.
liked the touch of the crashed Me109k while the Spit flies over shaking its wings a homage to south east kent four years previously!
Thanks for no commentary; the sound is top!

Hi , i dont knnow how to change camera on other planes when i rewatch my dogfights , anyonne ? (. good. fight )
great video
This is amazingly good
Really nice video. Is this with all graphics on max settings?
Yep.
Mk 14 is one of my all-time favorite planes! Awesome video! How do you find this plane, compared to others?
The only limitation to its ability to fight is the stamina of the pilot. It's a beast.
It still has the maneuverability of other Spitfires but also has much better speed.
@@m0ther_bra1ned12 vertically it should be one of the best planes in the game...
@@dl5270 It has phenomenal climb rate yes.
It's definitely one of the best value collector planes by far.
Spectacular graphics, sad the audio of the RR merlin and guns is 1980s vintage
a 109 getting into a turn fight with a spit don't think so
Will there be any British bombers( Lancaster and such) that we can fly when released?
The fighter version of the Mosquito is in development for the Battle of Normandy expansion.
Heavy Strategic bombers are not planned at the moment but that may change in the future.
How does one even play battle of normandy? I bought it but it's not yet available.
The planes are being developed at the moment. The map and campaign are not complete and probably won't be until next year.
@@m0ther_bra1ned12 Nice, i thought map was out already and you play it, so i bought it. good job..

Anyone having joystick issues? i have tried the joystick wizard in steam but it is not doing a lot to help me fix this
Those flickering exhaust flames sure detract from the realism! Think they've ever seen an inline engine running?
They are going to change it so you can only see it at night.
Fox2,, good Kills‼️
The grass on that airfield is so long the aircraft should never have been able to reach takeoff speed before they reached the airfield perimeter.
So realistic, even shows the Germans flying over water to get to Normandy.
Great graphics but surely they could have done something to make the engine noise more authentic? The RR Griffon makes a beautiful powerful unique sound not this lawnmower rattle!
The bf 109 is not good in dog fight
Their sounds needs work.
I play in vr mode . If I use earphones it sounds amazing. I agree the sound through the speaker's suck.
I think this video should’ve been named: Spitfire mk.XIV disrespect.
Me 109 is the best fighter in World War II number talks

Get shrekt
War is hell
Just cause you're landing doesn't give you a pass. Strafing is a thing.
I imagine that getting him dead was the point, because if he was still alive and healthy he could be flying again the next day.
The pilot should have bailed out.
