It's not coming. I fully expect the announcement of "It just didn't work, we're shutting the dev team down and redistributing the workforce to other projects" in a year or so. They announced it 4 years back and it's still in a pre-concept phase, we don't even have like pre-alpha footage of models or gameplay or anything. Leads on the team have left over the years, and the project recently underwent a complete overhaul at the base level. I've been around for years, especially regarding mmos. My extensive history with Metin2, WoW, EVE online, FFXIV and tons of other mmos most people have never heard of like Allods online tells me this smells of a fail. It's just too ambitious sounding, and they've gotten NOWHERE in 4 years. Hype can only last so much before people start forgetting and stop caring. They can't keep this up for 10 years as they seem to expect. League was lightning in a bottle and people don't care about league anymore, so they better do something. WoW was developed in 4 years and went overhauls but it still got developed in the same time it took the Riot MMO team to even come up with a pre-concept for their mmo. And riot already was a multibillion dollar company at the time of announcement, while Blizzard were still just a relatively small team of dudes with a passion for games at the time of wow's inception. It's not a good look no matter the angle. The fact that ghostcrawler left, who seemed to be the most enthusiastic about the idea, is a very big red flag as well. I really want this to be good, but all my instincts are telling me this smells of flop.
I still cannot get over the fact that he's a grumpy advisor in not only the Ruined King game, but also the Ruination book. I just got it recently cuz they're retelling (maybe building on? Idk?) the story in Wild Rift and I didn't want to be spoiled on Kalista's story beats, so I got quite surprised to see Necrit's pseudonym there

If it doesn't, the whole genre is most likely dead. It's been on life support of years. If you look through the top 20 mmos, almost all of them are at least a decade old.

With the writing in Ruination, hearing the author is working on the MMO actually makes me excited. He did a fantastic job on the book and really made me connect with characters I never had much interest in (Viego and Hecarim), which is feat in itself! His world building skills are fantastic!
If nothing else. If I can ask for one thing. If I may be so greedy. I really, REALLY hope they don’t make the main story of the MMO about Viego/The Ruination
At this point, Necrits son isn't old enough to heal his raids, but rather be a content creator with halve a million follower also speculating around the MMO xD
When they said that they were doing a reset that doesn't mean they threw every single asset and model in the bin, they also said that they made that decision "some time ago", some people speculate this could have happened in early 2023, which is almost 1 year and a half ago. I also think that the reset had to do more with gameplay, as ghostcrawler wanted a combat system like WoW and since he left they're working more on an action combat system.
I have thought for a long time that a super cool and engaging way of telling stories would be to make mini audiobooks. Maybe 5-20 minutes depending on story complexity. It would be cheaper than cinematics, keeps people from reading and would add a huge layer of depth if done with good voice actors, music and sound design. All things that Riot always does great with! (Except for Wild Rift cinematics) It would be unique too!
The pve event in Wild rift is underappreciated and is a good introduction to familiarize yourself with Kalista, who she is, what she does in the game and how to play as her. I hope they do the same with other champs.
I don t know how to say this, but after freezing the lore and having no plan what so ever on how to really bring it up to the people (not to mention that the story should also move forward) I m curious to see how many people will last until they are "ready" to deliver something about the mmo...I m 23 and I can t say that I love this universe that much to keep me thrilled for 10 more years:))))) just like I lost the hope for Winds of Winter to be released any time soon
I only play wild rift. I started with arcane, then wild rift. I've always preferred handheld gaming and really have no interest in playing league on the PC. Plus, I've seen some of the old designs the PC version still has for some of my favorites and don't have any interest in that. I've since gotten into watching pro regionals and now MSI. Wish wild rift worlds had not been cancelled
id love to see the mmo become some sort of " shifting battle feild" with commanders like darius will show up during the battle line of noxus and demacia, andd you chose a side to kill, aand the effect to world based on it, aatrox can just be a straight world event

To keeps this genre alive Riot has to come up with a game with unique and fresh approach to the topic and imho giving the players vibe that Wow used to. I think ppl are longing to dive into the vast, truly fantasy looking world, which looking at the Riot's artwork can be delivered. The fact that they still haven’t shown any of the game makes this really promising, just by how much they value players’ expectations.

And iv realized that Evelynn is singing about love, sounds like its about her having to fallen inlove with somebody. Atleast that what i get when i listen to the lyrics. That and she's singing a rap song. So the song basicly say she's mad inlove with somebody or something i mean its Evelynn so you never know.

Nothing is surely better than the last few champions we've got, without a doubt. I'm actually somewhat relieved we don't get stories outside of champ releases nowadays, that way the LoL universe is somewhat spared, at least for now :D

Me and a few of my childhood friends , played WoW since the very end of TBC till now..with some breaks ofc. Just a few months or so ago i said to one of my friends ''I would love a game like WoW but not WoW'' .Just like Necrit said about other mmo's i have also played :GW2 , ESO and quite recently , New World but for way less time then i did WoW. I want a mmo that still has the RPG element in it... like : Items that feel like an upgrade when you get it , zones that dont scale with player level...Endzones that look menacing ( icecrown ,Shadowmoon valley) class quests ,trainers..the list could go on and on... BTW judging by the succes of the Wow classic relaunch..that what MOST players want..

Arena is doing well? - No ranking, nothing to play for - No itemizing because you can only pick what RNG rolls give you, every item has 3 paragraphs of information and every player has a thousand hidden stats. - New map with the bouncy leaf in the middle is a snooze fest 90% of the time and otherwise it’s a 2v2 or 2x 1v1 on a map 1/3 the size of a real map 👏

- New map with the bouncy leaf in the middle is a snooze fest 90% of the time and otherwise it’s a 2v2 or 2x 1v1 on a map 1/3 the size of a real map 👏
