    What is up ya'll thank you so much for watching don't forget to Comment What you would like see me react to next! In today's episode a U.S. soldier reacts to the New Zealand All Blacks vs U.S.A. Eagles Rugby match On Soldier Field in Chicago Illinois U.S.A. I had no idea the New Zealand All Blacks came to America and played our U.S. Rugby team in a match on Iconic Soldier Field. Thank you all for recommending me this match even though the U.S. team is no where near the superior rugby prowess of the New Zealand All Blacks Rugby Squad, it is still very entertaining to see how far America has to go to catch up with the rest of the world on the rugby stage.
    As some of you may have noticed a couple of my rugby videos had to be taken down due to copyright so if anyone knows who I can get in contact with to gain access to react to rugby highlights please let me know in the comments or on my IG. I am working to get them republished so hopefully soon they will be back up on our channel. I've reached out to Both NRL and Super Rugby to try and speak with someone and am still awaiting their respective responses, but until then I hope you are enjoying my free content and hope to push rugby as a sport and a whole into mega popularity in America and each on of you watching helps us do that every single day so thank you guys so much for the support on these videos. If you like what you see please consider subscribing because it truly does help the channel!
    Thanks!
    Includes in these highlights are teams from South Africa, England, Japan, China, New Zealand , Ireland, Scotland, Australia, Wales, France, Argentina, Fiji, Georgia, Tonga, Italy, Samoa, United States, U.S., Uruguay, Spain, Romania, Russia.

      I'm not a fan of the religion tag, it's more a way of life, NZ is a small place and the men who broke this country in were tough, fit and smart. Rugby was the perfect fit and so rugby clubs became the focal point in our small towns and communities, we all knew an all black or two as kids, men who beat the world in arguably the toughest team sport in the world, they were heroes to us, back in the last century when the all black legacy was forged NZs population was 3 million ish.

    Having lived in States for a while as a rugby fan and having visited Japan a bit for work, the US does have large structural issues they need overcome. Though there are a lot clubs and players in the US but its very atomised and the clubs lack resources to build even halfway decent regional competitions. There massive lack of facilities, just having grounds alone to play on are a challenge (playing repurposed American football fields is common, but a actual rugby field is a quarter bigger and thats not even having a deeper in goal zone that properly should be used.) The other big barrier is lack of large numbers of adequately trained coaches particularly at lower levels if the game . Rugby has a lot technical positions and skills required and to get the highest level and to get a consistent high standard you need comprehensive coaching from high school age onwards, and that just doesn't exist. A large number of players don't even get introduced to the game till the early 20s, whereas in NZ kids are playing fairly tough games from 12.
    Japan has more of a rugby tradition, there a much larger professional competition and I was surprised by watching some university games quite a high skill level in japanese domestic players. Partly due as the game is Japan is quite well off financially

    The haka in its modern context is a call to action, to challenge the opposition to bring on their 'A' game (similar to the bugle call to action station). Rugby on the international scale is one of the few sports if not the only one that brings an indigenous and cultural aspect to the game at this level.

      You’re right, I respect it, now I gotta get a whole country to get behind this amazing sport like it is for the rest of the American sports. KurtyFlo Live! to clarify a bit more - if a player is standing in touch (i.e. out of bounds) when they catch or pick up the ball, then it makes whoever had previously touched the ball be the one who put it in touch. It's like how in NFL you see players put their feet out of bounds and lay across the ground to touch the ball from a kick off, because AFAIK American Football kept the same rule from the original Rugby Football that it split off from along with all the other codes of Rugby Football.
      In Union of course, players can throw in quickly as Jean stated - although it can be risky if the other team is already up in your face and after a certain amount of the other team's players are up at the point in the field where it went out it's no longer an option (refs will usuaully wait until that time to blow the whistle). Also if the ball makes contact with anything while in touch, such as a player from the other team, a bystander or even one of those advertisement signs, then it can't be played quickly.

    • @garyparata2885
      @garyparata2885 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That’s right! Also, a quick-throw differs from a line-out in that it doesn’t have to be thrown straight - it can go backwards toward your own goal line like a pass and so it is easy to get a pass and a quick-throw mixed up especially at the speed with which quick throws are made

They placed their jumpers at either end but threw to the middle of the line for the man standing in the scrum half position.

    So in Rugby, when the ball is out of bounds, the team with the throw-in, are allowed to throw the ball back into play before the formation of a lineout. (The lines with the 2 teams jumping for the ball). There is a couple of rules for you to be able to do a quick throw-in. 1) No spectator or any non player may have touched the ball. 2) It must be taken from behind where the ball went out of bounds.3) A line-out may not have formed yet. Once a line out have formed, you can not do a quick throw-in anymore. With a quick throw in you can throw the ball backwards towards your player, since there is no one from the other team to contest, but when a lineout is formed, you must throw it in straight so that both teams can compete for the ball.

      @@KurtyFloLive So just to give you some more food for thought. A quick throw in can be very risky. You normally have bad field position when doing a quick throw-in. So the normal thing to do would be to wait for the lineout to form. Win your lineout (Good chance, since it's your throw in) get players in position and then kick the ball back for a better field position.
      A lot of times when doing a quick throw in. The team is then tackled when attempting this or worse, the ball is intercepted. Getting caught with a tackle put's a lot of pressure on the team that did the quick throw in, as the team has a bad field position (Deep in it's own half) and it's players are out of position in front of the ball and the kicking team are organised in defence with a good chance of turning the ball over that can then lead to either a penalty or try for the original kicking team.
      In this instance, the kicking team (USA) did a bad job following up the kick and did not put enough pressure on NZ to force the lineout. So NZ had enough times do the quick throw in that enabled the counter attack that lead to the try. The last time NZ tried the quick throw-in against SA, the fullback actually intercepted the quick throw-in and ran straight through for the try.

    That's not what you can call the All Blacks' first 15.
    It would be irresponsible of the AB coaching staff to miss the opportunity to mix in a few 'up and comers' in a game like this. It helps players 'socialise' into the team. The players I'm talking about are most probably now in the actual 'starting 23'.
    It's a matter of getting 'meaningful minutes' spread out to enough players at every position so that, in an 'emergency', you're not forced to put someone out there that no one on the pitch has ever played with before.
    This past World Cup was a special disappointment to me. It wasn't that the USA failed to win a game, it was a tough bracket. The winner of a bracket is a matter of points, and 'scoreboard' is only part of it. You get points for a number of different things. Points are awarded for winning, For scoring a lot. You even get points for keeping it close. So, a losing team can get multiple points.
    There were 20 teams at the RWC and the USA had the distinction of being the only team to receive absolutely zero points there. That is what pisses me off.

    • @KurtyFloLive
      @KurtyFloLive  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Oh right, I understand. I kinda just figured this was a warm up match to extend the bench minutes and fine tune certain things with the squad as a whole for the World Cup. I saw it as more of an exhibition than a meaningful game in that it was good for the sport as a whole to have the All Blacks show on a big stage the full potential of rugby to a huge American crowd. Hopefully there will be a lot more of these high profile squads coming to America to play.

Our biggest rivals are South Africa, who were for a while the only team with more wins over the ABs. They toured once a decade, there then to NZ. In 1956 SAF toured NZ. SAF won the 1st test with a big scrum advantage. So NZ brought a prop out of retirement. Kevin Skinner, he also had been the NZ Heavy Weight Boxing Champion. In the 2nd test(game) he played loosehead prop then in the 2nd half switched sides to tighthead prop(not easy at top levels). No tv cameras.... no more scrum problems for the ABs....

      There a little bit of myth about kevin skinner. First off he always been an utility player in the pack. He actually started off in representative rugby as a lock, but as he was playing for Otago and the locks were already ABs he moved into the front row, where he played at all 3 positions (1,2 ad 3) prior to 1956. Also apparently the scrum in the 2nd and 3rd tests in 56 weren't quite the battle of the somme the myth makes out. Skinner had been known as a hard man and boxer for a long time prior and Boks well aware of this as everyone else was. The potential of an action has sometimes the same effect as if it had happened.

    USA is ok at Sevens I watched them a few years back win there first sevens tourney which is good to see and means the lvl of player competency has increased throughout the sevens tournement.
    The 15 man game is hard if your team is not fit and I mean 80mins fit.

    No mate, at 4:47 the ball was in field, the player was in touch, he stepped into field before touching the ball.
    To be in touch and give away a line out you have to be touching or outside of the line while in contact with the ball.
    Hope that helps and I really wish rugby union could make inroads on the vast but untapped US talent pool.

    I’m sorry, but this game was terrible. As an American who plays rugby, the US were simply out of their class against New Zealand. It was great to have the AB’s over here publicizing the game, but you want these games to be competitive which this wasn’t . On top of that, games like this put USA Rugby into the financial trouble that they’re currently in!

      Brendan Carey yeah it really showed how far behind the rest of the world the US is at rugby. Like I said in the video, rugby gets no push whatsoever in America, but it’s our own fault. imagine if we would have beat the All Blacks this day, it would have shook up the world. We will get better and be serious contenders for world cups and world stage events, hopefully sooner than later.
