    In Rugby, numbers 1, 2, 3 have powerlifting type bodies, for pushing in scrums. No.4, 5 are tallest in team, for winning lineout throw ins. No. 6, 7, 8, have athletic, big bodies, their core roll is winning the ball at the tackle. No.9 is quickest and fittest, passes ball from the tackle breakdowns. No.10 is the main playmaker, usually quick and skilled. No.12 and 13, attacking mid-field options, defensively strong, can be big and powerful or athletic and skilled. No.11, 14, fastest players, steppers, usually positioned on the outside edges of the field. No.15, fullback, usually fast, good kicker, last line of defense, takes most high kicks.

    There is no "dead ball" or "downed by contact" when a player hits the deck in rugby union; the ball is constantly live in general play. The only times the ball is dead is when it goes over the side/touch lines or the ref blows a penalty.

    The big boys are called forwards. Their job is to man the frontline and win the scrums. Scrums are when the 2 teams crouch into each other and the ball is put in the middle of them and then they fight or push the opposition over the ball to get possesion.

    What you called the stutter step is what we call the "dummy", same as before, dummy wasn't his nickname, you might call it feint or fake pass. The rough part was that was the "b" side, everyone off the bench got time on and for some it was their debut. Currently the Allblacks are number one in the world. You should watch Wales vs Allblacks, played recently and see how the Welsh tackled the problem...literally. In New Zealand, we play at a young age through schools. Not to be left out, our women, the Black Ferns are just starting wind up their run for the world cup. It was nice to see them get a caning by the British women, but no doubt, they will rise to the occassion.

    Your comment about the Eagle-15 knew that AB-8 was going to pass the ball before the tackle is on point. That's the AB game. . .playing the hand off, take out a defender and make space for the AB player running beside you. AB's play zones. . .I'd advise you to watch SA when they play the AB's they use scramble defence to cut down the hand-off play. . .doesn't stop it though, just slows it down. . .and the AB's prefer to play fast, innovate, attack and exciting rugby. . .stifle that and the AB-15 become a squad of 15 play makers. That's a better game to watch, too.

    Rugby never stops, when a player is tackled the person that was tackled they have to release the ball, the tackler also has to release. But any team can win the ball by blowing over the next person coming to get the ball. With kicks, As long as the attackers are behind the kicker they can catch the ball any number of bounces or no bounce.. Also passing has to be backwards, The game only stops if there is a knock on, penalty or out of bounds !!

    17:39 ideally the reason why he carried was because when your in your own 22 metre (in your half) you want to clear it out as much as possible in this instance. So what he did was carried the ball to settle for a Ruck, in which either his first-five (no.10) or halfback (no.9) would then have less pressure to clear it. But in this instance you might aswell try keep the ball with you as much as you can before giving it to the other team who are smashing you 🤣

    • @comeatmebro3229
      @comeatmebro3229 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      he did make the correct play, the execution wasn't there but the play was correct, if he passed it they would have lost more ground. if i was the coach and my team was getting smashed i would be looking for players to be at least making the correct decisions

  • @davejordan267
    @davejordan267 2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

    13:25 so with this the Backrowers (No.6,7,8) are your more skilled ball carriers, looking to keep the ball alive (gaining momentum). Theyre the workhorses of the team. The locks (No.4,5) are your main go to for the line-outs, due to their height, and would most likely play in blindside if they could depending on speed. They're strong ball carriers but not usually the ones to try gain extra meters. Like the front rowers as well ( No 1, 2, 3). Strong ball carriers and are important in the scrums. On defense theyre usually around the ruck area due to their strength and body height. This is a basic run down but with living in New Zealand rugby roles is basically changing. You can have a hooker (no.2) that can run long range try which is not really common before. So basically NZ is one of the reason this game is changing.

    I loved watching this particular game, it's because the USA team were not ruthless even with a loss, they knew from the get go that it was going to be hard, but respect to them for the start to the end, but you have to consider that our AB team are the fittest above all other teams, their fitness for each individual has to be above 100%, and also they have to come with a team mentality and not a I, I, I. Its what us Maori use, in the word Whanau, meaning family, but using the word whanau makes it that much more closer then saying family, even though its the same meaning. Discipline, is top priority, up their with their fitness, for our ABs...

    numbers 1-8 are typically bigger players, and slower. they're called the forwards and do a lot of the heavy lifting, and pushing. the huddled thing you seen is called a scrum. the 2 forwards from both teams push against each other , and the ball is paced in the middle of the scrum, and the teams have to push over the ball to get it, or use their feet to push the ball to the back of the scrum where the little half back (number 9) can grab it.
    the number 9 is the half back, hes the equivalent of the quarter back, and helps distribute the ball, and typically makes the calls on which direction and which plays to run.
    the bit where you see a guy been held up in the air, is from a thing called a line out. after the ball goes out of play. both teams forwards line up side by side, and some one throws the ball in between the middle of them, and they compete for the ball. could be similar to a tip off in basket ball, except the half back makes calls on you to throw the ball to (using secret team calls).
    number 10, is the main kicker, he kicks the goals, penalty goals, in kicks in plays. hes not the only team player that can, but mostly does. the little kick he did over the defense line was called a chip kick. also another good kick is a grubber kick which is kicking the ball at the lower height so the ball bounces along the ground quickly, and the attacking team can pass through defense and make some quick ground.
    when does play stop or is killed? when one of the team makes an illegal move, is off side, throws a pass forward, tackles someone wrong, and other things that are often seen as cheating.

  • @cassiusreynolds1963

    Huddle thingys are called scrums,
    If someone with the ball goes out the side lines then that’s a ‘deadball’ so there’ll be a ‘line out’ (what you saw when the guy was high up in the air). They spin the ball because it moves faster when you spin it. The big guys are stronger and dominate with their strength, to clear out the rucks and break the defence.

  • @DankSwegSkuxxXhayel

    If you watch full games of the ABs they'll use their bigger players known as "forwards" to slowly move the ball up the field and force opposing defenders into the ruck, (a ruck is what you see after a tackle is made, if your team has the ball you'll look to bump opposing players off of the ruck to stop them stripping your player while he's down and to allow your number 9 or whoever is passing enough time to set up a play) they're the best in the game at slowing your defense down with the forwards then exploding with the backs (basically any number past 9 is considered a back and those will be your speedier players)

That's why it's full on attack if your team has the ball the defence just has to man up but yeah love team usa and all blacks love playing all level of teams world wide to help promote rugby union it's not all about dominating

    13:00 bigger guys are usally put into a group called fowards they do thing like 9:11 "scrum where u push over the ball" and 9:48 "lineout where you lift a player to grab the ball. And they always protect the ball for a new play (they basiclly do the power work in the game)

    The bigger guys are key to the game, used for scrums, line outs and rucks also well used in malls and these “bigger guys” are called forwards, so yeah numbers 1-8 are forwards and 9-15 are backs

    Numbers on the back of the jerseys indicate the player’s position. Numbers 1 to 8 are the forwards (the big boys), and numbers 9 to 15 are the backs..(speed and agile players).
    This is a continual cardio game. The All Blacks have big players, but they are as fast as some of the backs. Old rugby had big beefy forwards but as the rules have changed to make the game faster, and more flowing, plus more entertaining, especially after becoming a professional game, the forwards have trim down and become faster.
    The positive with the All Blacks is , most teams fade at the 60 to 70 minute , where the All Blacks train to play a 100minute game.
    But please remember that the eagles are, compared to the All Blacks only new to rugby.
    When you fake a pass it’s called a ‘dummy’…as in a dummy pass!!..hahahahaha .He wasn’t insulting the player..hahahahaha

    Numbers 1-8 are called the forwards pack. They’re usually the biggest and strongest players- their role prioritises in strength and defence whereas numbers 9-15 are the all usually the smaller,fitter and faster players. They’re mostly more on the attacking side and finish with the tries.

    If the defenders try to intercept a pass on defense, and knock it to the ground (failing to catch it) it is possible to be removed from the game for 10 minutes or the entire game (leaving your team with less players on the field)

    Number 3's are usually around 6'2"-6'4" 115 kg - 130 kg. Not very fast, but the heaviest in the team. The finishers, or fast guys wear number 11 and 14. The conductor is number 10. He has an enforcer outside of him who crashes the line, and a distributor outside of him to deliver the ball to the fast guys. Numbers 1-8 are forwards. 1-5 are tight forwards and 6-8 are loose forwards. They secure the ball to provide the backs, 9-15 with opportunity to attack. 15 covers the back and is also used to a counter attack with other backs. 4 and 5 are the tallest in the team, usually between 6'0' absolute minimum to over 7 foot. AB's current front line 4 and 5 are around 6'7" and 6'9". Not the tallest in the world, but tall. 1 2 and 3 have their own world, that only they can talk about. The women's game is also mad.

    Sometimes players run instead of passing just to gain a few metres, if they pass it, they either lose or gain metres. The one that has the ball has to decide in a split second, 50% of the time it’s The right call

  • @anthonyaranda5561

    Just like football lol. The bigger slower guys put in the work that doesn't show as easily except to the trained eye. First off they scrum (that big huddle thing you saw) and do line-outs, other than that they obviously play defense and make tackles. But in terms of the “work” a lot happens at the break down retaining possession of the ball or on defense creating turn overs, and never underestimate the need for “go foward.” A big guy who can guarantee even just 5 meters of go forward per carry is very valuable. Lastly the other team needs big guys to stop the other big guys getting said “go forward.”

    The guy you asked "what is he doing?" early on was going for his man (but the attacker fell and passed), if he didn't the NZ player would have just dummy passed (fake pass) and got the try himself.

  • @cadifan
    @cadifan 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    The commentator wasn't calling anyone a dummy, he was referring to a "dummy pass" or fake pass. When you pass a rugby ball like that you spin it to make it fly straight like the rifling in a gun barrel spins the bullet to make it fly straight.

    The big guys create the space for the faster guys out back, if the defence is actually good. The big guys smash it up to pull players in and create space outside for example. You must learn about scrums, lineouts, rucks and mauls if you want to know what they excel at.
