This is a great video on how to export from moi 3d to blender. Moi3d has the option to export quad faces and the ability to change the resolution of an obj file th-cam.com/video/Lb9MFxyIoq4/w-d-xo.html

I have heard Moi has a good option for exporting. Sadly it isn't free. For those using the hobby license of Fusion and Blender there is no cost. Thanks for the link, ill pin it to the top.

@@LearnEverythingAboutDesign Do you think placticity is good way to use NURB modeling in blender? I just discovered it after posting this comment. I'm thinking placticity was designed more for exporting NURB models to blender than moi3D

@@4115steve Plasticity is a true solid(and now surface) modeler built on the parasolid kernel. Same one as many CAD software packages. It doesn't have a ton of export options for things like converting your solid to a quad mesh(as far as i know right now), but it is built to be a bridge between CAD and Blender. It is a CAD software but more on the conceptual side. It is lacking the CAD workflow where you define a sketch, use dimensions to control distances and build solids. It is much quicker. I do have some videos on it when it was very early in beta before the switch to the parasolid kernel. From the discussions on Discord a lot of people who are using Fusion, Moi and Shapr3d seem to like the workflow. Right when you hop in the shortcuts are very blender oriented.

Awesome I'd really like to see more content like this. I think the combination of blender and fusion 360 is an unbeatable package.

Thanks Walter. I am happy to try and make videos to answer design questions. Blender is extremely complex and I have gone into it a few times in videos, but have largely focused on Fusion 360 for now. It is very easy to get lost in Blender and I want to be sure the content is useful and pointed. If there is something specific you want to see please let me know!

Nice explanation so far. Taking this one step further, can I get the file after sculpting in blender back to fusion 360 to do some more technical sketch based designing? Which file type would be most suitable for that kind of thing to export from blender?

Sure can. You want to take a look here. th-cam.com/video/fDIQKzDsgE4/w-d-xo.html You need to convert it to a quad mesh in blender then export it. Quad mesh will let you directly convert back to a Tspline form body. Also Fusion just added something in the recent update about Mesh conversion but I haven't played with it yet. There might be a more robust way to convert it back in Fusion BUT it looks like its behind the Extension.

The channel isn't called "I will teach you everything about design" now is it ;) I am hoping to cover more of the "why" or design decisions or changes that happen along the way. Being able to pivot and know other tools to solve problems is key. Maybe it should be "Learn Enough About Design to keep you out of trouble"
