It's Lin-Manuel's first attempt at directing, so I think it's a little early in his career. The film was a great musical, and Andrew's performance was Best Actor worthy, but overall I didnt think it should have been nominated for Best Picture

@@sparx7974 completely fair but I genuinely thought it’s beautifully crafted and shot film, especially for his first time. I also wish we gave more accolades for when we immediately see greatness so we don’t have to give basically consolation oscars later. @@glenwarne6492 No, it definitely earned Best Director at least Best Cinematography. I loved the close ups of Diana exiting the Church. The color scheme was also country-dreamy quality to it. It seriously deserved more nominations with Best Original Score for Jonny Greenwood which lifted Stewart’s performance to even more highs like one of my favorite review of the film says “it’s a string quartet went to hell”. Also, my girl Jacqueline Durran got snubbed for Best Costume Design. She made the gorgeous green gown for the dinner scene and the beautiful white gown with silver embroidery that was showcased on the poster.
