Favorite GTA of all time. To this day I still want to move to nyc after playing this game. Loved the atmosphere and was always so mesmerized at the beauty of Liberty city in game. The multiplayer was also so fun and made so much online friends I still play with till this day 😢

1:36 - From the 1960s to the early 70s, I lived right across the street from the Jackson Avenue station. Rockstar did a great job capturing the "feel" of NYC, but I thought Bohan/Bronx got short-changed. There are many residential areas, and how could Rockstar leave out Yankee Stadium?
Nice! That means you got to ride the 3rd Ave. El. It closed a few years before I was born, but it's a shame that it was torn down. Thanks for pointing out the omission of Yankee Stadium, as the in-game radio references the Liberty City Swingers, yet no baseball stadium. They should've also incldued MSG.

Awesome video! I was born and raised Dukes (Queens) throughout my whole life! I visited certain places in Queens such as Forest Hills, Sunnyside, Flushing Meadows, Long Island City & Astoria that I didn't know that GTA 4 got these locations and made a PERFECT recreation of them! I once lived in Jackson Heights for 10 years and I thought that GTA 4 forgot about that place. At first I thought Cerveza Heights was Crown Heights, Brooklyn but it was Actually Jackson Heights! I now currently live in Queens Village which is a shame that GTA IV could of made EAST Island instead of Alderney. They would of made other neighborhoods from Queens to LI like, Dukes Village (Queens Village), Little Throat (Little Neck), The Knockaways (The Rockaways), East-Side (Bayside), Orchard Gardens (Oakland Gardens), & even Green Meadows (Fresh Meadows).
It’s crazy how much the pool in Astoria park looks exactly how it is in the game i used to live in queens be in that pool all summer lol I came upon it playing gta4 the other day I freaked out

I just came back from my first trip to NYC. GTA IV was the first GTA i’ve played, and its my favorite one… While walking, a felt in some places like it wasn’t my first time there 😂😂 It is amazing the effort put by rockstar in capturing NYC’s energy and details, even when everything is a joke or parody. Excellent video mate, really enjoyed watching (lets proceed to the continuation 😅)
For both GTA 4 and GTA 5 they did actual location scouting to make both Liberty City Los Santos feel as close as possible to their real life counterparts. It is rumored that they did the same for Vice City in GTA 6 as well.
I went to nyc when i was a teenager a few times and then ended up working very briefly in nyc for like 2 weeks and then returning a few weeks later for more work (Was actually there just a few days after this video was uploaded) . I always felt like GTA4 felt more authentic to nyc than GTAV felt to LA. Sure both are missing a lot, but GTA4 is missing less it feels like. Also your footage makes me hella nostalgic. last time i was in nyc was fall 2022. I miss it now. Something about Late Summer NYC with clear blue skies in the mid afternoon always hits me for some reason.
Thanks for sharing your story. I played a little bit of GTA V, but I did not get into it like I did in Part IV, as I did not have that connection with the setting. It should be noted that I have never been to LA. My favorite times of the day where I enjoy being out walking around the city are late morning and early afternoon.
This is absolutely amazing! GTA IV will always be my favorite due to these amazing sightings they recreated. I wish they did the same for V, but we already know the deal behind that😂😂😂😂
So far GTA6 looks very accurate to it's real life counterpart compared to what GTA 4 and 5 was to theirs. I hope that whenever Rockstar decides to include all HD era maps into one game, perhaps for GTA7, that they at least rework Liberty City to match New York more, as well as include Staten Island and a bit of Long Island, because it's not so accurate. I would like to see my Brooklyn area in a GTA map.

Man, I'm from Brazil but I would love to travel to New York and Los Angeles and I certainly wouldn't be able to walk around the city without thinking about Gta 4 and 5 because it's incredible how detailed and identical it is
It's been 15 years and many places in NYC have vastly changed, specially around one court square and the old factories redeveloped in brooklyn/queens... i believe it's more than enough for rockstar to bring back LC in GTA 6 or a later expansion

I prefer walking over running, because I am afraid of damaging my knees. I feel a slight jolt on my left knee from time to time. I'm in my mid-40's, so I don't want to deal with the repercussions when I get older, if I run excessively.
I live in England but I have been to NYC twice on holiday. Whilst there, I tried to find as many GTA IV locations as possible. I know it probably sounds sad, but it had to be done 😅. Great video 👍

I was going crazy I couldn’t believe everything i saw, i kept pointing random things, streets, bridges, restaurants hundreds of time and I kept saying "WAIT I KNOW THIS FROM GTA" every single time. I spent a weekend in San Diego in September and I had a nice time. Afterwards, I popped in Midnight Club 3 Dub Edition and saw some spots in the game that they took from San Diego.

Lot's of things about NYC are great (food and easy to navigate around without a vehicle) and there are things about it that are not (crowded, pricey, and smelly in the summer). It's a place I've been accustomed to my whole life, though I will leave when I retire.
Tell that to the hundreds of thousands of people leaving the city because of awful policies by the city council, mayor and governor. Places like Staten Island are literally trying to secede from the city because of how bad it has become. "Lucky" is not the word I'd describe when talking about NYC. If you want to enter the city you'll be paying congestion fees and dealing with awful traffic, the only alternative is to use the public transport system, which is so unsafe that recently they had to deploy national guard soldiers to the subways. I could go on, but you get the point.
It's nostalgic of seeing these familiar virtual places of our reality, but unfortunately, blurry textures and poor quality of graphics in general ruined (well, kind of) the great idea. Or maybe, you're running GTA IV on an old PS3 and it's aged so obvious badly?

I went to Astoria Pool a few times during the 90's. It was nice that Rockstar accurately depicted locations like that which familiar to locals.

As a person that's not from New York but a big fan of GTA 4 Bohan gave me that Bronx feel.
I like that they got the hilly terrain of the Bronx down pat.

“Star Junction” / Times Square probably was the most impressive to me. “Broker Bridge” / Brooklyn Bridge too

You got the Steinway Houses, which is the equivalent to Queensbridge Houses to boot.

Love this I lived all over newyork from Bronx queens Brooklyn Roosevelt Island. So this gta4 hit deeply. Wish we got a remaster for newer gen systems

Liberty City and New York City are exciting city. Different than my city Los Angeles. L.A. is beautiful city and beautiful ocean.
