Grand Theft Auto IV (GTA IV) Liberty City - New York City Comparison - 1 of 3

  • This will be a series of videos covering the New York City locations used in Grand Theft Auto IV's version of Liberty City. I pan around most locations to show you the similarities and differences in each site, between these two cities. This first video covers the boroughs of Bohan/The Bronx and Dukes/Queens. Enjoy the sights and sounds.
    Note: At 10:11, Schottler is located in Broker (Brooklyn), but it's real-life counterpart, Sunnyside, is in Queens, which is why I included Schottler in this video.

    Awesome video! I was born and raised Dukes (Queens) throughout my whole life! I visited certain places in Queens such as Forest Hills, Sunnyside, Flushing Meadows, Long Island City & Astoria that I didn't know that GTA 4 got these locations and made a PERFECT recreation of them! I once lived in Jackson Heights for 10 years and I thought that GTA 4 forgot about that place. At first I thought Cerveza Heights was Crown Heights, Brooklyn but it was Actually Jackson Heights! I now currently live in Queens Village which is a shame that GTA IV could of made EAST Island instead of Alderney. They would of made other neighborhoods from Queens to LI like, Dukes Village (Queens Village), Little Throat (Little Neck), The Knockaways (The Rockaways), East-Side (Bayside), Orchard Gardens (Oakland Gardens), & even Green Meadows (Fresh Meadows).

    • @NeoTurboManiac78

    1:36 - From the 1960s to the early 70s, I lived right across the street from the Jackson Avenue station. Rockstar did a great job capturing the "feel" of NYC, but I thought Bohan/Bronx got short-changed. There are many residential areas, and how could Rockstar leave out Yankee Stadium?

    • @NeoTurboManiac78
      @NeoTurboManiac78  ปีที่แล้ว +6

      Nice! That means you got to ride the 3rd Ave. El. It closed a few years before I was born, but it's a shame that it was torn down. Thanks for pointing out the omission of Yankee Stadium, as the in-game radio references the Liberty City Swingers, yet no baseball stadium. They should've also incldued MSG.

    • @MrBronx61
      @MrBronx61 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      @@NeoTurboManiac78 I lived at St. Mary's projects, 665 Westchester Avenue. In fact, Elizabeta's building looked just like the one I lived in. Again, great job by Rockstar, but no excuse for leaving out Yankee Stadium, Shea Stadium & MSG. Shoot, GTA San Andreas had a stadium in each city!

    • @NeoTurboManiac78
      @NeoTurboManiac78  ปีที่แล้ว +5

      @@MrBronx61 The inclusion of stadiums would've been great, as you can drive up the ramps and there would be ample spots like the concession stands, where enemies can attack you.

    So far GTA6 looks very accurate to it's real life counterpart compared to what GTA 4 and 5 was to theirs. I hope that whenever Rockstar decides to include all HD era maps into one game, perhaps for GTA7, that they at least rework Liberty City to match New York more, as well as include Staten Island and a bit of Long Island, because it's not so accurate. I would like to see my Brooklyn area in a GTA map.
