This was so zen... just what I needed after the long day. I especially loved the sounds of grinding and grinder container opening -- they gave me the chills. Pure bliss. Moar, pretty please.
This was pleasant. I look forward to the day when there's an hours-long playlist of James brewing coffee in different methods that I can autoplay to fall asleep to. Also, my J-Max sounded like seals going "Aur-aur-aur" this morning.

This could be made into a mini series comparing the sounds of french press, drip coffee, aeropress, espresso or even like the bripe/stovetop espresso or all kinds of brewing methods
Nothing less than outstanding, James! I picked up at least 20 things I've been doing wrong when it comes to pour over brewing. Your channel has really opened my eyes to getting the best taste from various brewing methods. Pour over, French press, Turkish, espresso; I served in the USN, and was amazed when I got to see and taste coffee made so many different ways around the world. The USN method on a ship's mess deck (dining room) is a huge can of coffee dumped into a large cloth filter in a percolator holding probably 5-10 gallons; I thought when I made Petty Officer I'd be able to get to the coffee while it was still relatively fresh, but it actually worked against me due to more responsibilities and duties. I sometimes wondered if we could run jet fighters using it as fuel; 4-5 hour old coffee out of those requires a cast iron stomach! I got hold of a Vietnamese 1 cup coffee device which would be shared among several PBRs (Patrol Boat, Riverine-Vietnam) until it failed to return one day. My desperate "field expedient" solution? grab one of my clean, older dress socks, a tight, thin, fine nylon weave, which didn't leach black dye anymore, tie an overhand knot on the top, and brew it in a canteen cup which was shaped to fit the bottom of the old metal U.S. canteens. ( I had a stainless steel version; some were aluminum/aluminium) The other sailors thought it was pretty good java---until one of them saw how I was making it, that is....
I would love to hear an old 1960's era coffee percolator in action, you know, the one with the glass knob at the top that made all kinds of gurgling noises while it was brewing. Bring back childhood memories when my parents would have it running every morning!!
@@huckthatdish my parent's coffee tastes back then were not as refined, waking up to the gurgling noise along with the smell of coffee permeating the house every morning is something ASMR will have difficulty replicating!!
Something I learned the hard and slow way concerning making a great tasting simple pourover... The grinder (and it's setting) is a MAJOR factor in the flavor. I began with a plastic Hario grinder. Upgraded to a Timemore c2. Next, tried a cheap electric flat burr grinder. Then came the 1ZPRESSO Q2 7spoke. That was by far the biggest jump in flavor of all of them. The grind uniformity and roundness completely changed my coffee... and my thinking about grinders. So as I watched James pour that simple pourover, I couldn't help but wonder how many people are struggling to find that sweet spot with their V60. It took me 2 years to figure out that the problem with my brews was actually the grinder. I could just never get the nice flavors I was searching for, thinking it was me that was ruining them every day. I hope this helps somebody out there. Blessings to you all.
The sounds from heaven that I so much enjoy every morning! Sometime we didn't realize how lucky we are. Thank you, James! This is truly the Zen of coffee. 🥰

james, this is an inventive and artistic video. i think some of the best and most effective asmr is even less polished and many asmr fans listening would delight in hearing the small sounds in between these actions as well as hearing your relaxing voice even more! best wishes x
LOVE THIS! As an American who after a lot of good natured ribbing from my British friend, FINALLY a couple of years ago got an electric kettle, I can say that nothing makes me happier than to wake up in a quiet house and hear my kettle warming up and bubbling, then using my aero press to make my first morning cup :-) PS...I can't wait for the decaf video as a person with a heart condition I'm always on the lookout for great decaf coffee :-)
James seriously? Thanks to you I’m fantasizing about all the cool coffee gear I want to buy all over sudden and now I enjoyed ASMR! I came here to know which espresso machine is the best bang for the buck, but now I’m hooked.
Thank you
As someone who experiences ASMR, this was fantastic! It really got me! I would thoroughly enjoy more similar!
As a person who does not get anything from ASMR. But does gets quite powerfull 'frisson' from some sounds/music. This was beautifly sonic. The best word(s) I could find to describe this is.... 'textured sound'. Relaxing and pleasurable to listern to.
This video seriously made me wanna get the V60. This is just beautiful
I usually wake up around 1am then brew around 2am. It's pretty much a ritual for me, brewing coffee. I hope the people who've watched this video found it as therapeutic as much as I did😌
I've quite enjoyed this ASMR video, and would love to see more in the future.
I love the idea of this as a series. It is so satisfying to watch the process and excited to see more.
