I hated the Hobo Weeks I tried awhile back, but Catherine may have resolved many of my complaints with her n2,
Oh Kelly, you just cracked me up! You got another new subscriber in me today. You said ALL the things I was thinking when I saw Catherine's video!! I am so intrigued with all SI's options, I am an A5 techo cousin lover all the way, but also carry a pocket notebook...I think I may replace my many little fields notes style pocket notebooks (I order the Goulet Pens TR paper and Clairefontaine notebooks) with the SI passport booklet or compact passport...SO many decisions to make this year! Thanks for the laughs and so eloquently saying what we are all feeling.
I get it! I just purchased a 2024 and a 2025 B6 planner and matching covers and pens from Tanya Plans and was DETERMINED at last to have ONE PLANNER SYSTEM (spoken with echoing monster truck rally reverberations) but then while back planning the 2024 B6 using my Hobonichi Cousin. Has ruined me. The Paper! The Freedom! The adorable Covers! The vast canvas on which to express my thoughts! The Launch Day just one week away! I’m thinking my husband is organizing an intervention! But even though I HAVE a perfectly suitable planner for next year, I still want the Cousin and maybe the a6 Techo again. i. just. don’t. know.
Elizabeth Craft Designs actually just made a nice, good size stamp set with vintage typewriter months and calendar days. (I love that font!) I've been using it and it's been great for Papertess and Sterling ink. Black ranger archival ink doesn't go through Tomoe river paper so it works perfectly. (You could also use really light colored ink from ranger or memento) I agree with you the stickers can really chunk up the pages. I usually use a pencil board behind any pages I'm working on and that helps a lot. I should also mention that Hemlock and Oak are great for their thick paper and they also have a basic Hobonichi type layout. Worth a look definitely. Great video! PS yeah I've gonna have to buy some more sterling inks this year to be sure. So many choices....
You have had me SCREAM LAUGHING this whole entire vid! Love it! I think Sterling Ink might have me too. There's a horizontal A6 and the N1 horizontal. She might get the coins.
Hahaha. I might need a sample of "scream laughing". SI is getting some of my coins, too. Right now the last decision to make is will I get the horizontal A6 instead of the Hobonichi A6. I JUST (like just) got the SI part two A6 to test out and it is NOT laying flat. GAH!!!
Lol ahhh i love that i just found your channel and this video killed me. I thought i knew what i was going to do next year, but the horizontal b6 slim is my dream so yea now im completely undecided. And the tweed and mulberry???? She got all of us!!
I guffawed at your video. You are SO right on so many things about the 2025 SI lineup. I'm still staying strong with my decision...hopefully. But I truly enjoyed your video.
@@thestationeryjunkie I might…MIGHT…only do a Sterling Ink order since my Hobonichi Cousin is a Spring start this year and I’ll have it for a while. But then again…Hobonichi hasn’t finished their reveals. 🤦🏼♀️

I became a convert in 2023 and ordered six of the SI common planners for everything. I was planning the same this year and was rocked with the introduction of the SI 2025 planners. I have my plans for the SI launch and now will be ordering just three planners and booklets. I can't wait but yes my world was rocked too. Funny thing is my husband wants one now.
My partner chose a Sterling Ink this year, too. We talked about how he was using the Cousin I got him last year and he NEVER uses the weeklies. So now he wants to try the dated A5.

Kelly, I never comment, but I love this video! You are so honest and are cracking me up!! I am also getting a Common Planner this year (or two or three)
Yep, same here. I was going to get the Hobonichi Cousin (probably Avec this time) because it had everything I wanted and needed in it, mostly (I never liked the Sat/Sun red/gray, the quote on every page, no numbers, and minimal blank pages….) and I really knew nothing about Sterling Ink planners, her 2025 lineup video comes up in my feed and I’m speechless…it’s perfect!!!! It is everything I need and want, and so soothing to the eyes (which is a thing for me) but has enough structure and organization to keep me structured and organized, and plenty of space to do whatever I want with…plus FORTY!!!!! blank grid pages!!! Yes!!! No trying to keep health trackers all over the place in the Hobo and having them not work, and getting so frustrated….I’m tempted to buy an undated one right now cause I feel like I really can’t wait until January to get into the groove…this amazing woman took all of my planner frustrations away! It’s like the heavens opened up. I don’t even care what color it is (they’re all nice…people seem to really like the mulberry and I’m not a fan, so no competition from me for that, lol.) I feel you absolutely! (Love your handwriting btw!)
Ha ha ha - if it makes you feel better I placed an order for undated common planner and N2 just this morning only to have the new releases and videos come out this afternoon 😮 I have always been a hobonichi girl and wasn’t going to change - but in June I just lost my mojo - stopped journaling & planning altogether - abandoned my cousin (she had gotten beyond chunky and just wasn’t easy to carry around or write in anymore), my weeks sank to the bottom of my purse and became a support platform for everything else I tossed in - but… I decided I needed to get my act together - dusted off my spine splayed cousin, dug out my weeks from the bottomless pit and started using them again first of August - but…. I just want feeling them - started using a couple of blank notebooks to finish out the year (drew in calendars and wrote dates) and started dreaming about my 2025 fresh hobo planner purchases (thought I had it all figured out) - then… had a bright idea 💡 … my birthday is the beginning of September & I decided to make that month my personal new year - went on the hunt for planners that started in September - found undated sterling inks - after many, many trips to her website and many, many “in my head” discussions of how realistic is it to hand date a planner, should I use the regular planner, should I use the common planner, should I really start in September or wait for the new year like a normal person - i went for it and placed my “final decision” order this morning Then not even 2 hours later - the new yearly options are revealed and I am like “ whaaaat” !!! 🥺🧐
I am in the same dilemma. I just retired so I figured I don’t need a Hobbi Cousin and A Hichi weeks. My life is simple now. I decided to buy a commit 30 which I got. I’m not loving it so I figured I’ll just get what I normally get my Hichi’s And then I saw her video about the commoners from Sterling Inc. and my mind is spinning. I’m thinking maybe I just get the B6 right and put everything in there and it’s smaller than the Hobie Cousin so I could carry it with me and not need the weeks, I’m so confused right now. And I gotta justify buying another planner after I just bought the darn commit 30. I know how you’re feeling.
@@GraceKraft-i4n go with your gut! That’s what I feel it’s coming to for me. My brain will overthink the crap out of this and justify alllll the planners. I need to rely on the sanity of other parts of me. Gut? Heart? Kidney?

I just discovered the common planner a week ago and this was my exact reaction. So glad im not alone! I ordered an undated full year planner and date stickers so I can do a trial run before commiting to the size I want in 2025.
Finally! A video that speaks to my planner indecision…I may have found my people. Great video Kelly. Hi to my fellow Oregonian from the So. Oregon coast! Oh my, I have no idea now what I'm going to do. Last year, I bought so many planners that I did not end up using. It is a sad sad thing. SI is rescuing me from Moleskine. I need a horizontal layout weekly view calendar. Because of that I bought a Hobo Weeks two years ago. It’s just too small and I had to go back to Moleskine. I WILL be ordering a B5 horizontal SI compact on Sept. 1.
@@ladyflimflam I am very intrigued by a chunky B5. It makes me wonder if I could do ALL the things I want different books for in one place. Please let me know how you get on with it!!!
So far for 25 I've ordered a Jibun Techo for work, a switch from the Hobonichi Weeks, and some loose paper from Sterling Ink. This gives me a chance to work with the Sterling paper before committing to a book for next year, as I usually use 140 gsm dot grid for personal. However the undated vertical in a B6 is a strong contender to the usual order from Citrus Bindery.
Hello Kelly! I have been a Hobonichi gal since 2018. All the same feels as you. I got a Weeks but not my beloved Hobo Cousin for this year and opted for the B6 Sterling Ink. Adore it and at the same time missing my Cousin. Truthfully I am not into all the colors, quotes and large date on each page of the Hobo. That is why I have switched my daily journal allegiance. Still torn though.
@@Eversew139 I didn’t even know the red of the Hobonichi weekends/holidays/whatever was an issue for me until I was in an SI. When I got back into my spring start cousin I was very “Gah! But even though I HAVE a perfectly suitable planner for next year, I still want the Cousin and maybe the a6 Techo again. i. just. don’t. know.
@@debbiemerritt5317 😂 monster truck rally. That was perfect. 😜 I’m still lost. There will probably be panic shopping.
@@Sarah-xw2ff ohhh I’ll have to check out that stamp. I have lots of different ranger and Tim Holtz inks.

My partner chose a Sterling Ink this year, too. We talked about how he was using the Cousin I got him last year and he NEVER uses the weeklies. So now he wants to try the dated A5.

Thank youuuuu! I can feel your excitement. Thrilled for you. Mulberry is pretty, but I tend to just keep going for black.

Ha ha ha - if it makes you feel better I placed an order for undated common planner and N2 just this morning only to have the new releases and videos come out this afternoon 😮
I have always been a hobonichi girl and wasn’t going to change - but in June I just lost my mojo - stopped journaling & planning altogether - abandoned my cousin (she had gotten beyond chunky and just wasn’t easy to carry around or write in anymore), my weeks sank to the bottom of my purse and became a support platform for everything else I tossed in - but… I decided I needed to get my act together - dusted off my spine splayed cousin, dug out my weeks from the bottomless pit and started using them again first of August - but…. I just want feeling them - started using a couple of blank notebooks to finish out the year (drew in calendars and wrote dates) and started dreaming about my 2025 fresh hobo planner purchases (thought I had it all figured out) - then… had a bright idea 💡 … my birthday is the beginning of September & I decided to make that month my personal new year - went on the hunt for planners that started in September - found undated sterling inks - after many, many trips to her website and many, many “in my head” discussions of how realistic is it to hand date a planner, should I use the regular planner, should I use the common planner, should I really start in September or wait for the new year like a normal person - i went for it and placed my “final decision” order this morning
Then not even 2 hours later - the new yearly options are revealed and I am like “ whaaaat” !!! 🥺🧐
