Might even be used now up here in the North for the new Blackpool Electric services - I do know that the ones we have now have been used by Thameslink for 20 years...
He was dead lucky the coupler was that end, i always found it to be the "Other " end of the unit. Remarkably clean buckeye as well, they were usually smothered in filthy grease, one collar always stuck as well. Plus no mention of setting route indicator blinds to black and lights off in both cabs.
34 years later I have just learned to do this with class 455s. It is a dying skill- 455s being the only units left that couple and uncouple in this way.
ChrisCooper312 it's used so that the loco crew remember that it's merely hooked onto both loco and unit and not permanently attached to either, so that they take a bit more care. That's also the reason it's painted red.
Kevin Ward old and/or aged recordings of music often waver or warble a little, look at most pre-2000 lower budget films amd you’ll probably hear the same sort of thing
Excellent works footage of EPBs/319s coupling up. The music is horrendous,😱😬 I'd rather listen to noisy chewing n slurping n that's saying something!!😆😆
Beware of the conductor rail. Contact with it will result in the intro music being played
The best unit of measurement, a little to the left.
319015 is now 319215 and was used on the connex express duties 10 years after this film was produced.

What about class 325s?
@@leeroberts1192 I suppose so, but I consider those freight. The 455s are definitely the last passenger units in regular service to couple that way
Never did understand what "smartly" meant on BR.
We where often told to lift things or step clear "smartly"
It means to do something quickly and confidently, no messing about basically.
I love how the guy coupling/uncoupling only refers to the driver as, well, Driver.
0:23 It's the same tune from the class 321 video!
Its the same song. Difrent parts are being used in difrent videos
@@OskarEhmsen nope, this is the alternative version of the original song "Special Friend" by Bosworth Backgrounds
Goddamn, I’ve been searching for 9 years since this was first published! I remember watching this 9 years ago, exactly on the day it was published.
Love the music.
Does anyone know where I can find this music?
I think I remember watching this actual film during a mutual improvement class when I was 18.
Anyone know why the emergency coupling and not the loco coupling has to be used when coupling to a unit?

ahhhh brings back memories 🥰🥰🥰🥰
How do you decide which set of pipes to connect?
Whichever you are closest to, or which ever work.
Just connect random hoses together and hope for the best.
I RIDE ON THE 319s ALL THE TIME UP HERE IN THE NORTH OF ENGLAND

Instruction unclear
how to pull the release handle "smartly"????
Class 415 coupling! LOL!
Is it just me or was something wrong with the music at the start
