I’m glad that you mentioned staying hyper aware of where the ball makes contact on the paddle. My biggest issue is that the ball often hits the edge of my paddle.
The tips about targeting 1 foot over the net helps me most. My driving tutor shared me the same tips when driving that looking at the correct place when turning will guide my steering nicely at the turn.
Great tips. I would also appreciate a video about bending knees when returning. I like your green/yellow/red guidelines which might be helpful when thinking about bending knees.
Amazing coaching, as always. Never heard the rock forward technique or hyper focus on paddle sweet spot. Will try both today. Keep up the great work, Connor. Congrats on 100k. You are one of my favorite coaches, along with Jordan B. and Nicole H 😊
Excellent video as usual! My problem is sometimes missing the middle of the paddle and I drop it into the net. Thanks for the tips and effort on your vids!
Great video. Definitely much needed. I dumped so many into the net last night playing. Super frustrating. I hit the net tape on virtually all missed drops. I am definitely aiming way to short
My problems are hitting into the net (short) or hitting too high. I’m just way too inconsistent. Hopefully these drills and tips will help. We all could use a partner like Kenadi! Good luck getting to 100k! You’re so close
I miss into the net frequently. I need to make sure I'm not trying to hit shallow in the kitchen but 1-2 feet over the net instead. It might also help to focus on dropping over the middle of the net.
Maybe it’s just an open play thing , but when I hit a drop the opponent lets it bounce and get to its apex and just bangs it back ? Thoughts ? Suggestions ?
Jeffrey is right. That drop was too high. This is common and sometimes unavoidable after a hard return. Just do another drop. Sometimes it takes 2 or 3 drops before you earn your way to the kitchen.
Same thing applies to dinks; but you need sufficient height to clear the net, so it’s not necessarily to ‘high’, it’s more likely to hard. Holding the paddle too tightly can cause too firm a shot too, thereby sending the ball ‘higher and deeper’. Watch for these things as well as trajectory.
I play open play as well and do that all the time. When an opponent hits a drop, I back up so it bounces and when it's at its apex, I drive it with a windshield wiper motion into the corner of the court for a winner. Because the drop is so slow and I'm so close to the net, it's easy to run around it and bang it into the corner or at my player feet with a topspin forehand. 90% of the drops he hit in this video would get that punishment. My favorite, though, is when my opponent hits the drop too high or deep and it's an easy put away. Some folks I've played will then try to hit their drops lower and that's when they start hitting them into the net and getting frustrated. So they go back to hitting drives.
what is your grip strength? sometimes i can grip too tightly (unconsciously of course)and that will lead to leaving it way too high and that can lead to me overcorrecting to hitting it into the net
Another reason to get to the ball early is to hit it at its highest point. This is where the ball is moving the slowest and it puts geometry on your side. When I see someone letting the ball drop before striking it, it's often because they have a racquetball background where the goals are very different.
I seem to struggle to hit a hard bang return as a 3rd shot drop for it requires being in position and slowing the ball down without popping ball high from transition zone causing opponent have ability to put pressure he ball away
It’s called stacking, you use it when you want a particular player on one side at all times. You still serve normally, only difference is where your partner is standing
One reason I have started hitting more third shot drops to the middle of the court is because the net is two inches shorter in the middle than it is at the outer edges. It makes a difference.
It looks like the easiest shot, but I stink when it comes to drops. Thanks for your informative videos. Let us see a match between you and your sister, she is a player!😀
If you’re hitting GOOD drops, no. If you’re hitting MEDIOCRE drops, yes. A good drop will cause the drive to go into the net, or, more commonly, long and out of the court.
Your paddle should be on a High to Low path as if it's following a crescent 🌙 moon.. Strike the ball at the BOTTOM of the moon and move your paddle towards the target... If your hitting the "tape" ( top of net ) you're getting close.. Hang with it.. IT'S NOT THAT EASY...
Ha Ha, this demonstration is nothing like a real game. Kennedy is hitting the ball back to him as lightly as she can. In a real game, this lightly returned ball is not reality. The ball is usually returned as hard as they can hit it back to you. There is little time to prepare for returning the ball, much less trying to get it into the kitchen with a soft lob. You need to show us how to do this when the ball is driven back to you, at very high speed.
Dropping really only works if you have the wheels to get to the kitchen as a threat to a short kitchen dink. If your slow no reason to expect them to try and keep you back and helping you out, just because you dropped it into the kitchen from the baseline. Your starting to see this in the pros now. If you are slow, learn how to lob.
3rd shot lob should not be a go to shot at the 4.0plus level (or against any decent badminton/tennis player). If it works in your rec group I guess that's fine but you will definitely hit a wall in improvement unless you have a reliable 3rd shot drop plus/minus drive. Lob is viable as a surprise maybe 3 times a game at the most though (assuming you can disguise it well and hit a ton of topspin).
@@ender133 Works good on those who are so proud they hit a nice deep return and the are at the NVZ, until the ball goes over there head drops near the baseline, they have to let it bounce, none of that hitting out of the air. like any skill if you cannot get the lob high and deep 70% of the time, just lose the point quicker doing something else.
@gg80108 at the 4.0plus level of play, esp 4.5plus, those lobs are getting crushed unless theyre going out (even if your opponent is short) since its mostly a timing issue. If your lob wins you more points when hit regularly compared to your drops or drives hit regularly your not a 4.0plus and/or your opponents are not 4.0plus. It's fine as a a surprise shot every now and then mostly from the kitchen. The lob has been a thing for at least a few months now. See how many 3rd shot lobs get hit in ppa.... You might get the first one to bounce but if your opponent knows you hit the lob in consistently they'll just start smashing them. Those with other racket spots backgrounds are happy to hit overheads from the baseline (still way closer than a tennis serve) as a advantageous shot.

I love the animations you add to your videos, It makes it easier to see and understand what you are explaining
Excellent instructional videos. You are a natural instructor. I'm a 'reformed' tennis player and new to pickleball and your vids have helped me a ton.
I’m glad that you mentioned staying hyper aware of where the ball makes contact on the paddle. My biggest issue is that the ball often hits the edge of my paddle.
Can we appreciate how consistent and good the return is?
The tips about targeting 1 foot over the net helps me most. My driving tutor shared me the same tips when driving that looking at the correct place when turning will guide my steering nicely at the turn.
Good stuff
Great video & tips. I tend to want to guide the ball too much and usually under hit it into the net. Thanks for the visuals and drills.
Great tips. I would also appreciate a video about bending knees when returning. I like your green/yellow/red guidelines which might be helpful when thinking about bending knees.

Really helpful video.
I like that 1’ over the net tip, as well as aiming for the back portion of the kitchen. I think that will help me
Let's go!!
Excellent video as usual! My problem is sometimes missing the middle of the paddle and I drop it into the net. Thanks for the tips and effort on your vids!
Best drop video I’ve seen anywhere. Thank you!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Great information! What Selkirk Luxx are you using? Thanks
Great video. Definitely much needed. I dumped so many into the net last night playing. Super frustrating. I hit the net tape on virtually all missed drops. I am definitely aiming way to short
great tips..think also like golf,u need to mentally think where u want the ball to go..and alot of times ur body will adjust for different senerios
Great tips!! Thank you
When I miss my shots is due to focussing on where it's going to land in the kitchen and their feet. Great video!!
Love these videos! Very informative.
I'm trying to improve my pickleball drip; what are those trousers you have? They look good
Nice sfx along with quality information as usual!
This is really helpful. Do you watch the ball into the paddle to make sure it hits the sweet spot?
Great video!! So helpful =]
Thanks for stopping by :)
Kenadi is the real star. Give us more Kenadi!!! ❤❤
Im in love!😂

Good tips thanks !
Again...excellent content! Thank you!
My pleasure!
great ideas and will try them out with a partner...
Very useful video. What software do you use to annotate the video (e.g., arrows, shaded region)?
I miss into the net frequently. I need to make sure I'm not trying to hit shallow in the kitchen but 1-2 feet over the net instead. It might also help to focus on dropping over the middle of the net.
Ima be honest for you to still have my attention while kenadi is in this vid shows how great of a teacher you are... respectfully.
Thanks for the great video!
Maybe it’s just an open play thing , but when I hit a drop the opponent lets it bounce and get to its apex and just bangs it back ? Thoughts ? Suggestions ?
Same here. I think it’s because I lob them too high. You may want to try a lower arch
Jeffrey is right. That drop was too high. This is common and sometimes unavoidable after a hard return. Just do another drop. Sometimes it takes 2 or 3 drops before you earn your way to the kitchen.

in your opinion. what is the best indoor and outdoor pickleball and why?
lighting is bad indoors compared to outdoor.
what is your grip strength? sometimes i can grip too tightly (unconsciously of course)and that will lead to leaving it way too high and that can lead to me overcorrecting to hitting it into the net
Pretty loose on drops... But you need to be conscious of it when you practice so you can figure out the perfect strength for you.
Based on these points I miss most of my drops bc I'm not getting that arc. Great tips!
Glad it was helpful!
Great job. Nice courts, club or public?
Public!
Awesome video!
Thanks for the visit
I think there's an element of reading the ball too when deciding on type of spin. Not evey ball will lend itself to a top spin drop
the reason most of my drops don't work is because I am terrible at pickelball
😂😂😂🎉

Unless you are playing with pros, someone who pounds the return is not getting to the kitchen. Its ok to pound it back at them while they are moving.
What's the difference between a staggard serve when both players are on the same side when serving. Compared to switching sides each time you serve
It’s called stacking, you use it when you want a particular player on one side at all times. You still serve normally, only difference is where your partner is standing
One reason I have started hitting more third shot drops to the middle of the court is because the net is two inches shorter in the middle than it is at the outer edges. It makes a difference.

It’s beyond frustrating. Dinking too.
Thanks ❤ 🇵🇪
I miss more drops when they hit hard. More tips on that would be helpful.
I just realized I was focusing on dropping them just over the net. (Height and Depth)
How do you counter a spin?
That's the hard part, having the ball contact your paddle in the center or sweet spot.
I have trouble hitting drops when my opponent slices the ball back to me. It’s coming low with back spin and my drops go into the net.
I have that issue too.. usually I end up driving when someone has a good slice return
Easy to hit drop shots from soft returns. When will a coach make a video of returning drops from real returns from decent players?
Wow😅
What about hard, strong drives? These are somewhat controlled drives.
I'm always just inches short and when I adjust then they are to long. So frustrating.
My problem is I have a tendency to lift one leg up because I don’t set up early enough. I’m off balance
I hit it into the net way more than hit it to high. I think its because I'm moving to trying to get into the kitchen and not being set.
The main reason I miss my drops, or any shot, is because of bad footwork. When I focus on my footwork, everything else seems to fall in place.
I am trying to hit the ball to hard and go back to far on my swing. I have played 3 times so far
The principle reason I miss my drops is because I suck at Pball.
Couldn't she take one step back and just slam that high bounce down?
If you’re hitting GOOD drops, no. If you’re hitting MEDIOCRE drops, yes. A good drop will cause the drive to go into the net, or, more commonly, long and out of the court.

Poor footwork is my problem.
You animated text distracts. It also covers up the ball and I can’t see.
139,999 followers are here to watch Kenadi! And she knows this! 😂
The camera man is into cake I see.

Hit a deep higher return so you have time to get to kitchen, maybe.
@@-life101 your on the wrong end of the play, I'm serving have no problem when returning.
