I bought an ‘09 in 2018 with 13,004 miles on it for $7,350. Problems included fuel strip (gas gauge), fuel pump leak (warranty covered), throttle body pulleys (plastic, don’t twist too hard) and low beam bulbs. Now have 41,000 miles on it. Gag mileage ranges from 37 - 52 mpg. It’s a sport tourer, not a luxury cruiser, so not as comfortable as a Gold Wing, but handles amazingly well, even loaded down. I do my own maintenance, like that the valves are easy to adjust. Change fluids per the book and shouldn’t have a problem.
I closed a deal on a low mileage '09 today and am picking it up in the morning. I am chuffed to bits, as we in the USA imagine you folk might say. 😊😊😊 First thing I'm doing when I get it home is to bleed the brakes, something I plan to do annually to try to keep gremlins away from the brake servo. Best of luck with your RT!
Thanks, best of luck with yours too. Bleeding the brakes and changing the fluid at least every 2 years is a good thing to do. I am chuffed with mine, follow up video to come.
@Rider 33 Looking forward to your videos! I have the new bike and so the honeymoon begins. I wonder if I'll ever get used to the turn signals? I was very stingy with them on the way home, turning into a true BMW driver.
Just something you may like to know the servo system can go wrong and some people have been caught out with near misses the brakes can become none existance. If you visit fat lad on a bike he had a video explaining how his went south and he nearly didnt stop. You can buy a kit to remove the servo i have had 2 like yours and both had servo removed and bike was fine but abs was gone but i never had an issue now i have a new r1250gs adventure but those hexhead bike are still a great bike they are amazing on mpg
@@rider33 my 05 RT has 86000 and still running the Assite servo system....I have the brake fluid changed every two years.. My latest issue is the front shock, after 86000miles you can hardly blame it for wanting to retire (actually its shot) and I going to fit the YSS (£300).. For the value of the bike ,,I think its a great bike...

I picked my 08 for a bargain, it’s one of the best bikes I’ve had

2008 and the newer ones does not have the i-abs so there is no servo pump. Although it is good to change the brake fluid every 2 years...

Hi, thanks for the advice. I am aware of the servo situation, I had a K1200s of the same vintage. It's some thing I will be addressing.
@@rider33 nice bikes though and surprusingly agile as is my adventure

The handling and road holding are good. Just my opinion, but I find BM's good in this respect so I'm not surprised.
