    The K6 was the first AGV helmet I tried on that didn't have my chin hanging out exposed under the chinbar. I never understood why the shell shape always did that, I don't even have a Jay Leno chin either! The K6 was impressive and it moved AGV from a 'never buy' category for me, to a level where I'd consider them.

    I had an Icon Variant when I use to ride. I got in an accident and was wearing full gear with the Variant being my helmet of choice. The doctors had thought I wasn't wearing a helmet when they brought me in that night. This either means that the Variant didn't do its job in protecting my head or that I smashed my head so hard that the Variant did what it could do and obviously saved my life. I still cringe seeing people riding without helmets.
    Take it from someone who spent 3 weeks in an induced coma, gear saves lives.
    I really wish every young 20....actually no, I've seen just as many older riders with this "wont happen to me" mentality take my story and think about it next time you hop on your bike or get in the car. I consider myself lucky that I can think about getting back on a bike now being in my late 20's, others aren't so lucky.

    How the ICON made it in a "best helmet" video is beyond me. And I say that as an owner.
    The looks of that blue model are absolutely amazing, that's why I got mine in the first place.
    But that's about the only good thing about that helmet. It's heavy, like considerably heavier than other helmets.
    The fit is extremely tight, uncomfortably so. Ventilation is allright, at the cost of noise though.
    If I compare it to my HJC RPHA 11 or my Shoei NXR, ... it's not even remotely a competition.
    And given the price tag, I cannot recommend getting that ICON if you're planning on making it your primary helmet.

    Guys, you ignore the one factor which makes up about 90% of what I look for in a helmet: QUIETNESS. Usually this consideration is dismissed in helmet reviews with the excuse that "we can't say how loud this helmet will be on your head or on your bike". Not helpful, please just say how quiet the lid is each reviewer's head and this would be good.

The rpha11 definitely surprised me with comfort close to Arai and Shoei, 803rs was pretty cool too but still felt a bit cheap compared to the very complete and refined x14 in similar price range. For me the pista gp is the least comfortable and most expensive piece of average quality helmet I've ever seen and despite it being so sexy and aesthetic I can't see myself wanting to own one

      Fun fact: the largest growing segment of motorcycles are “traditional”. This includes naked sport bikes and classic retro inspired motorcycles. ADV growth has slowed considerably in 2019 but dirt growth has continued strong.
      Thus, the biggest tech changes we’ve seen this year have been with dirt helmets. So, we included the Fly Racing helmet which is very much an off-road/dirt helmet. I’m not sure if maybeyou just missed that or didn’t consider that one for ADV use.
      For a lot of people using ADV bikes and dual sport bikes it either makes more sense to use a street bike or a dirt bike helmet depending on the ride your setting out to tackle. A lot of ADV style helmets offer compromises one way or another.
      Personally, I prefer using a true dirt bike helmet when riding my 1090 in off-road conditions as they’re lighter, still safety rates for the street, and offer better ventilation. If I’m taking a trip on the road I prefer a street helmet as they’re lighter than an ADV lid, have better aerodynamics, and thus offer less fatigue at highway speeds and are quieter.
      There are specific situations where I would recommend and ADV style helmet, however, when we were looking at this list there weren’t any significant ADV models introduced this year to justify more of a focus over the picks we’ve made. That being said, if you have your heart set on a ADV helmet, our geeks are happy to walk you through all of the options to find one that matches your intended use and desired price point.
      Thanks for watching.

I'd love to get an Icon but being a 3XL size has always been an issue and they are also typically Long Oval so even the few that come in 3XL have no chance of fitting over my head. So is the AirFlite a long oval or intermediate ?

If you look up the part number (FF-801) you'll find it's made by LS2 which is probably why. It also looks like it shares its face shield with a couple different LS2 models. • @RevZilla
      @RevZilla  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Aerodynamics is your biggest enemy, as the peak visor on a dirt helmet just turns into a sail while riding on the highway. There is also an argument to be made for safety, as a dirt crash and a street/highway crash are two very different types. Not saying a dirt helmet is less safe, but by design it has a lot more angles/corners that can catch in a long asphalt slide and make you start tumbling which is the enemy to any road accident. K4 K thank you. It’s that I’ve seen several reviews on TH-cam and I decided to purchase. The problem is, since I’m not a TH-camr, the helmet is supposed to be shipped to me only on April 30th. That’s too long since the release was on February 27th. And that was the day I bought it. I’m asking for a refund. My friend, is there a helmet you would recommend. I live in hot weather all year long, so I need a lightweight and an incredibly ventilated helmet.

    • @headkicked
      @headkicked 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@chrisbarretto10 It's hard for me to recommend anything without knowing some key aspects about you, like your head shape and riding preferences.
      I ride a sport bike and my preference is usually a full face helmet. I tend to stay away from anything with a drop down visor because of the dynamic change to the safety of the helmet. I don't need a drop down when I can just buy a dark smoke or mirrored shield.
      I'm not a fan of modulars, for similar reasons. Plus they tend to be noisy, not unless you go for a more high end modular, like a Shoei Neotec II. The AGV Carbon Sport Modular is also nice, being a SUPER lightweight modular.
      Also, one of the big red flags on the Ruroc's for me was the fasteners for the shield. Reminds me of the Sedici Strada which has wide screws to hold the shield on, but they can sometimes come loose and fall off while riding, resulting in your shield coming off, not fun at all. And that should say a lot coming from me, it's a Cycle Gear brand and I work at a CG.
      I currently ride an Icon Airmada. It's not the best on the market, by any means, but it fits my needs. It can be a bit windy in it, I think it's just because my head shape doesn't quite fit it, so it leaves gaps near my ears that allow air to get up there. The ventilation is good though.
      But there are a lot of good helmets out there, really. Shoei, AGV, Arai, HJC, Bell, they all make great helmets but it's mostly about fitting one for your headshape.
      Shoei RF1200's are top in the market but that also has to do with the fact that it's an intermediate oval and like 90% of the headshapes in the US are that shape. If you're in that smaller percentage group, it might not be a great fit for you.

    • @RevZilla
      @RevZilla  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Before deciding on your next helmet, I encourage you to measure around the crown of your head, as it could be that your 4XL helmet just isn't the right internal shape to match your own head shape. Generally 4XL equates to 67-68cm. If your crown is indeed that size, then I recommend the Scorpion EXO-R420, as it's lightweight and aerodynamic. If your head actually measures 66cm or smaller, then there are a lot more options in 3XL. Also keep in mind that if a helmet fits well around the crown but is too tight in the cheeks, you can often buy thinner cheek pads rather than getting a bigger helmet size. -DrewZilla
