I loved when the massive swarm would come and you were surrounded and you could just perry everything with fencing. The power fantasy was real. It was fun while it lasted. Trying the block chainsword.
Same, but in the same way, i love fighting majoris in a swarm and when i need armor, i switch my focus to the nids around me and pressing parry EXACTLY when the little bug creature is about to hit me feels awesome too, i put a lot more effort for the reward. Makes me feel good xd
It was very stupid and completely took away from the experience. Instead of actually fighting the swarm with skill and precision, you had to learn how to perfectly time scripted parries that magically maim everything around you. Death of the parry meta is good, now they need to rebalance the game around it and make fighting less scripted overall.
I went from almost 100 flawless runs, never going down a single time using fencing weapons to now going down for the dumbest reasons. I literally get tossed around by minoris enemies because the parries won’t trigger! As an assault/bulwark main, this is so incredibly annoying!!!!

I don't bother with parrying. I just doge. Go assault go max glass hammer go block hammer and just one shot majoris and run away shouting "wooop wooop wooop wooop".
First off I love this game have maxed all classes and maxed out multiple weapons on several classes. Right now the parry bug/issue makes it so minors are harder to parry than majors which is absolutely trash for playing high difficulty ops. You need those for armor regen. So if a big swarm of gaunts attack at the same time and you miss a window they can nuke your health bar or kill you. As well if a massive wave comes and with a large group of majors all swinging a little bit staggered or at the same time and you miss a window trying to perfect parry multiple times you are basically dead. It feels really bad and will kill a lethal run. The devs really need to leave it alone after they fix it. If they want people to play other things besides fencing they don’t need to nerf fencing just buff the other weapons and or make new ones or systems that are strong and fun. No one likes the fun police.
I started a new character and it’s even happens on the third difficulty. 9 times out of 10 I could block perfectly now it’s more like 2 times out of 10. It’s. Broken af
honestly them messing with the parry window was and is not necessary, especially when dealing and putting up with hordes of enemies jumpin you all at once. if people wanna use the block weapons that's fine but don't mess with something that by the way is super necessary and needed for a game that throws all kinds of stupid at you.
I did feel minoris enemies are a lot harder to deal with now,our team has to reposition a lot more so we don't get over ran.I do enjoy the reward to perfect blocks/parries when they ever do prock but feels inconsistent.There shouldn't be a timer where the perfect block/parry stacks go away.They should stay with you until max/consumed, at least that's what I would like . I still wish for fencing to be brought back and left alone.

The parry evolution for fencing weapons is quite deconcerting I admit. At first I actually thought I became bad at it. But it is not the only problem that plagues the new update. If you play sniper you might have noticed. Sometimes the cloak only desactivate after the second or third strike and sometimes it even won't turn off until the charge is fully exhausted no matter how much you attack. If you use the cloak just for increasing the damage of 1 las fus shot it won't be too much of a problem. But if you use it to engage in melee combat (cloak - strike for 2 seconds - cloak - strike for 2sec - repeat) it's basically a death sentence when it happens in ruthless or lethal. Well the full cloak running until there is no more charge will feel good while it last but once it's out you won''t be able to manage a big melee until it's back up. Especially since you can't rely on fencing weapons anymore....
The problem is that if the game keeps going from fun to broken I'm just gonna move on if it just keeps going through this shitty up and down. I've put 400 hours into the game already and I'm kinda over it all at this point
I have parried perfectly multiple times and still got hit. Things are definitely off. I have played with balance and fencing. Balanced is slightly off and fencing is way off.
Parry window above average difficulty becomes more difficult even the Dodge windows too. It's like the Parry and Dodge windows on higher difficulty become way too fast to read or time.
I'm stepping away from the game till the bugs fixed, I've played with the new rework and I'm impressed with blocking weapons. I've got every class maxed out, all cosmetics unlocked, every weapon reliced so I'm using this down time to play other games as to not get burnout cause I really love space marine 2
Aside from the parry shenanigans, dodging needs work, too. Hell, twice in this video, you can see him take hits from chaos marines mid dodge. Parrying, dodging and contested health mechanics just feel so weak and unhelpful at times.
I’ve noticed that with the whip Tyranids. Before if you got caught by the red strike you would have to eat one other attack but you could get out of the stun-lock, now I eat 5 attacks while dodging and one mistake costs me half my health.
The devs can't leave well enough alone. They keep ignoring the things people ask for and make changes to things nobody is asking for. It's like they have the mentality that it's not broken until they try to fix it.

I've got a bug on Xbox where you cannot pick anything up with the Y button, which is reload for me and it can't reload unless I sprint and for some strange reasons it will activate my special when it's set as right bumper. unplayable for most classes.
Something that really annoys me is the Dodge mechanic in this game it's pointless evening having it if I'm doing anything other than standing still I can't dodge and by the timeline Emmy has attacked it's too late and I have been touched once and that's it I'm dead might as well leave the game I should be able to come out Midway through an animation like parrying for example or blocking Tigo into a Dodge instead of just being thrown about like a dog toy
As someone with all relic weapons and maxed all classes and completed all lethal, it left a sour taste. Yeah I’ve had success with the blocking and balanced weapons and can complete ruthless missions no problem but it’s not the same. I play more PvP now to unlock everything again.
Perrying is just messed up and blocking still feels like it has issues to with the window for minor enemies it feels like thats where its effected the worst Edit: heavys iron halo is also bugged an it makes using them annoying when you have to mash the ability button just to get it to work
I’m not noob with parry, I have been consistently a ruthless lvl player and occasionally doing lethal. I hate the new parry but I think it’s my own bug, however, I tested the mechanic on average and substantial and I struggled and died a lot and it’s been making everything harder. I tested all three and it’s been ridiculous and I think fencing needs to go back to what it was and balance should be a blend the 2 types and block is fine
I havent had much issue with parrying since the update, the only thing I noticed was parrying mutliple attacks at once is less consistent. That was my favorite part of the game though, sitting im a massive wave facing down 6 melee majoris and just being the fucking parry king for a bit
i dont have reddit. but i would like to tell my bug that happened yesterday. I play assault. i bounce between playing ruthless and substantial for quick money. MY JetPack BLEW UP 3 TIMES. Full hp/full armor. I jumped, i had a lag spike then i was dead... not downed, dead. I asked my teammates what happened, one guy said he dindt see what happened, just on his screen i was full hp then dead. The other guy was right next to me, he said he seen a bright flash from me, then i was dead. this was in Substantial so theres nothing that can 1 shot, or even full dead you. Fast forward through the run. it happens again midway into the run, this time both of them seen it, they seen me use my jetpack into the air, then an explosion, and then i was full dead. right before the hive tyrant, it happened a 3rd time. only one seen it that time,, but he seen the same effect. at this point they were cracking jokes at me about be having a faulty jetpack or faulty/outdated armor. Again, it was full/hp and armor to dead.. dead dead... not downed. and i did not have mortal wound debuff.... we started thinking maybe they added a new mechanic with a small chance of jetpack exploding.. but that doesnt sound fun.. but it was the only thing we could come up with
I main assault and know exactly what you're talking about. That's a bug from about the 2nd or 3rd patch. It went away. But I guess it's back if you've experienced it recently
This parry bug is what making me a bit hesitant to try the new melee changes. I'm hoping a fix comes soon and someone makes a guide because I know I won't spot a difference.
Everyone who couldn't perfect block or parry never really could to begin with I noticed no parry bug yall talking about and i can parry minoris just the same just wait for the hit to come instead of spamming
I'm just glad that I'm finding out it's a bug & not a skill issue. Used to be able to parry most of the time & I thought I was getting worse at the game because I started missing parries that I normally had no problem with.
I don't play anymore, had 200+ hours all characters maxed and lethal completed. Now I am playing substantial levels and when I am against 4/5 warriors I am getting shredded because any parry miss and you just keep taking hits again and again. I can't even dodge as parry and dodge are blocked when you have been hit and are recovering. Game is fine with 1 or 2 warriors but the action and fun is when you have 6-8 and some lictors etc. Now its just not fun and I don't want to relearn 200 hours of muscle memory for a game that isn't as good.
My enjoyment of the game is going down, with a noticeable decline in queue times and quality. Having major issues finding a 3rd for most parties, and on ruthless/lethal the NPC companions don't cut it. Very long times (as I type this) to find a match. I am wondering if it is because too many people are 'taking a break' or if there are server issues on the backend.
I haven't played since the end of September, so I didn't really notice but seeing everyone saying it's nearly impossible to block minoris and getring swarmed/getting nuked by the smaller enemies makes me feel a bit better about sucking on my first ever Ruthless Mission today. We did win, but by the skin of our teeth.
Pre parry adjustment I used to feel like I was John wick parrying multiple enemies and Gun a striking everything and everyone. Now I get shit on every time when I try to block a hit.
I think given enough time, most players would adjust to the fencing changes. It’s just getting used to new timing on the parry that’s the problem. I still think blocking needs work. It doesn’t have enough utility like perfect parries/gunstrikes. Someone else mentioned it, but I think if they added some sort of stagger to a perfect block, it could help. I feel like as an assault/bulwark, you get stuck blocking in the middle of a swarm and the adrenaline stacks run out before you can use them. Maybe increase the window you have to use the stacks. But they’re also going to rework some weapon and class perks in the next couple of patches, so maybe that will add some addition utility to perfect blocks.

Spamming parries shouldn’t be a viable strategy. A true Space Marine doesn’t rely on wildly swinging their weapon around and hitting away every enemy. We plan out our attack, we take our time with the coordination of our fellow Brothers and crush our enemies through superior positioning and overall force of will
Despite the changes I seem to be having no trouble with parry on the Heavy bonking them with the gun. If you're using Heavy it parries like the power sword, you want to hit parry at the very beginning of the enemy windup. It feels unnatural because it's so early but once you get the hang of it it's a breeze. At the very first sign of an attack windup hit parry. The actual parry can be waaay after you hit the button so I can see why folks miss it.
Bro, I've never had this many parries and gun strikes on the hive tyrant. I need a comprehensive video from one of yall pointing out the problem with parrying. I still use the gaunts in swarms to keep my armor up. It sounds like yall miss running in the middle of a horde and just spamming parry. The only thing broken for me is my reload.
I’ve noticed it basically feels like parry is more delayed and you can’t panic parry you gotta actually time it even with fencing but that is how it should be people truly are having a skill issue with this one block is good balance is good and fencing is good I have every weapon relic tier and all classes lvl25 I’ve already gotten all the new content and heraldry I’ve used weapons pre buff and post buff and honestly yall are trippin saber is doing a good job and if you don’t think so then play another game I don’t need people to ruin my fun because they suck and can’t parry for shit Git Gud I’m happy to finally see I’m not the only one feeling this

I was playing assault yesterday with the fencing thunder hammer. All went well until i came across a majoris... That majoris just spammed the 2 hit combo where you have to parry twice to get a guard break and let me tell you... Doing the first parry is fine but the second swing is borderline impossible to parry (Or maybe i just suck but it really felt like its not possible) Edit: Im using power fist with block now it's really nice
😮Bulwark main, I also run assault so I prefer the melee combat, it has become more difficult for sure, started leveling Heavy and Tactical since the recent patch, don't spend a lot of time in melee range cause it does cause me to get frustrated sometimes, just practicing and learning the new mechanics occasionally when I feel like play melee, best we got till next update whenever that is.
Yeah, this parry bug makes playing with a bulwark very hard. It's hard to dodge with the bulwark because he can be so slow. I was doing so good leveling up my bulwark now it's been Ls 😅.
most of the time I play on ruthless or lethal and play as bulwark i parry most of the time only time I don't get a parry is if I panic and start parry spamming but I really just haven't had a problem with bulwark at all
For me, its not only this but keyboard and mouse controls being messed up. My mouse disconnects from the game, my stim button doesnt work 90% of the time, my ability maybe works, etc etc
I'm confident in my parry abilities, BUT, one bug that I have noticed was when the enemy throws a blue parry attack at me and I attempt to parry it, only for it to ignore the parry but somehow NOT hit me, then I parry the next attack but once again it doesn't go through and I don't get hit, and now the enemy is somehow gun strikable. There is a bug with the parry for sure, but I'm still landing my parries.
I've also been getting the bug where my controls just lock up. It seems to be immediately after a gunstrike. My guy just freezes and nothing works until he gets hit and staggered, then it's fine again. Happens sporadically. I'm on Xbox series s
Changed all my characters to block weapons, having no issues at all with the bugs at the time 😂 because thankfully isn't the only mechanic in the game.
Okay, I need to say something. I play on console, I have picked up heavy after bulwark, and started playing on lethal. However, ever since the game came out, I have personally not noticed any change whatsoever in the parry timings. Whether it’s average, substantial, ruthless or lethal, my parrying has been consistent throughout each update and difficulty. Maybe it’s just a console vs pc thing, but idk. I haven’t noticed any changes overtime. Anyone else on console or pc feel like this? Edit: I also wanted to note that my heavy ability has weird input bug. I thought it was a pc only thing, but whatever. I just aim my weapon before activating the ability and it works fine from there.
I believe it to be FPS dependent. I capped mine to 60 fps and basically never missed a single one, even against the whip warriors, doing parry spam. Either some logic got moved from "every physics frame" to "every frame", or in the parry calculations there is a problem on how the "delta" time (time between 2 physics frames) is being handled
The parry mechanic always had startup frames before the actual parry activated and I know the startup feels longer. Any attacks within that startup will interrupt the whole parry attempt. I noticed the changes while being minoris ganked as heavy and fencing bulwark - comparable IMO Im guessing shifting to client-sided parry windows instead of server-side has been a mess coding-wise
My real problem with this if it was intentional is that it disrespects the time the players invested in learning the timing and the system, only to change it. Destiny was really bad at this for many years and I really hope we aren’t going down that road
I gotta say: As someone following the game from the outside because I lack the hardware to properly run the game, it's mindboggling how quick y'all change your mind. 1 day ago everyone was sucking up to the update saying it was the best since butter and bread, yet now you hate it lmao.
There was a lot of cool stuff in the patch, but they broke a core mechanic that a lot of people enjoyed in its prior state. Took a few days for people to catch on to it, since its a bug, so we had to figure out whats happening on our own. I still like the game, ofcourse, but it is frustrating when my favorite class got broken by accident.
The actual content drop was cool. Love the new mission, and even did it on Lethal. New enemy is one you actually need to pay attention to in a horde which adds something fun to combat with chaos. Cosmetics look amazing. All that being said, when one of the core mechanics feels worse than it did pre-patch then people will rightfully get frustrated after experiencing it for days on end.
I won’t discount anyone’s difficulty with fencing parries right now. I haven’t felt that much of difference and if there is, it’s not a difficult adjust. Whatever bug exists hasn’t completely broken parry 🤷♂️
I agree, I don't discount their difficulty with it because I also had to adjust and realise that before the patch I was mostly relying on spamming the button, I rewatch clips of how I die and notice I'm just pressing too early most of the time. On lethal this is how it should be on the hardest difficulty that we are forced to actually have skill and parry on time but I think any difficulty lower should have a little more window for parry. This maintains the power fantasy for the majority of players as by the comments it seems most people are rage quitting the whole game right now lol.
I'm not sure if it's placebo or because I'm more aware of it [and act with it in mind] but my fencing chainsword is hitting consistently compared to the power sword. Its still over all just _off_ but idk fencing chainsword is what I'm sticking with for now.
I did notice the parry is weird, now I'm getting knocked around. I get people were only using fencing but you shouldn't nerf what works, buff what doesn't. To all the people saying we praised the update, speak for yourself. I never did that, I was on the fence right away. They need to fix fencing, buff balance, and tighten some screws on the block. As an Assault main I feel like I'm somehow always getting the short end of the stick. On the higher difficulty I'm being kicked from the groups for just being an assault.
idk man, I just lost the last 5 matches in a row on Ruthless which I can normally do pretty easily. Everyone in each match was struggling. Hopefully they resolve this soon; I'm heading home for Christmas and won't be playing anyway until next month. Right now, it's just too frustrating to deal with.
So not just me then? Also finding that bots have gone back to tickling enemies instead if attacking them, and soooo many vines on the ground and nid snipers. And of course thropes 😮😢 Wasn't bothered by the various bugs before, last few days it's gotten pretty frustrating.
Never played Darktide, but every time Helldivers balances anything their playerbase loses their shit and calls it unplayable. People just like to cry when you remove an "I win all the time" button from their arsenal.

It’s not parry equipment & abilities are bugged too. I have had the melta bomb not go off & stay in the about to explode animation. Skills don’t work without switching weapons
I played late last night and noticed the Perry was trash 🗑️. And it was on average difficulty. I was getting my butt kicked. And I'm good at Perry on all the difficulty levels. Immediately I was like - "Wtf!?! Why did y'all mess with this!?!" And YES!!! The balanced chain swords are MAD SLOW!!!
I just logged in and tried out the new patch, playing solo on Lethal as a bulwark with a blocking weapon feels borderline impossible. Well ... it is possible but very unenjoyable in my opinion.
The only thing I'm pissed about is the buggy key binds. I had to re-do a good hunk of them on PC since Q (originally my parry) just does.... well, whatever tf it wants lmfao.
Am i wrong for wanting a neutral banner that doesn't scream IM AN ULTRAMARINE on it? I dont expect a different banner for every chapter but geez could we please not have to see it constantly?
The timing is more specific, yes fencing is missing 0.17sec on its perfect window, but overall everything works just fine. Its only when you stop timing and start spamming while in a huge pack of guys that parry gets inconsistent. I generally dont bother parrying minoris, instead choosing to lunge and gun-strike/execute them. Fencing was way too broken before. Having one option being the correct choice for every situation all the time to the point that it pretty much guarantees victory regardless of player skill is terrible game design.
With the new parry system i haven’t noticed to much of a difference at least on ps5 other then a slight delay with the peek of my parry window where should have hit and i apparently did it to early so minors a little more though makes sense though since fencing prior you could spam it and kill an entire swarm of minorsus an ludicrous speed seemed a little unrealistic even for a space marine
Parry bug sucks. There’s also more of a niche bug going around that a few people are experiencing. I use controller (on steam) and controller layout D. I can’t reload unless I sprint first. Annoying, but whatever. I switched to Assault, if I don’t sprint before reload I use my ability, and I also can’t interact with anything.
Just revert it to what it was prior. Leave it alone. Don’t change it. Ever again. That’s it

DUDE! I just did a live stream and didnt know the parry was borked until I was trying to play and getting COMPLETLY recked!

Parry window above average difficulty becomes more difficult even the Dodge windows too. It's like the Parry and Dodge windows on higher difficulty become way too fast to read or time.

I'm stepping away from the game till the bugs fixed, I've played with the new rework and I'm impressed with blocking weapons. I've got every class maxed out, all cosmetics unlocked, every weapon reliced so I'm using this down time to play other games as to not get burnout cause I really love space marine 2
Aside from the parry shenanigans, dodging needs work, too. Hell, twice in this video, you can see him take hits from chaos marines mid dodge. Parrying, dodging and contested health mechanics just feel so weak and unhelpful at times.
I’ve noticed that with the whip Tyranids. Before if you got caught by the red strike you would have to eat one other attack but you could get out of the stun-lock, now I eat 5 attacks while dodging and one mistake costs me half my health.
The devs can't leave well enough alone. They keep ignoring the things people ask for and make changes to things nobody is asking for. It's like they have the mentality that it's not broken until they try to fix it.

I mean there was hardly any complaints before they changed the parry system and now it is the most talked about thing about the game now. If it ain’t broke don’t fix it.
I've got a bug on Xbox where you cannot pick anything up with the Y button, which is reload for me and it can't reload unless I sprint and for some strange reasons it will activate my special when it's set as right bumper. unplayable for most classes.
Given how many enemies can attack you at once and how hard you get punished if you miss a parry I think they should be more on the stronger side

It was a mistake and they didn't intend to change the parry window like this so next big patch they will change the parry window yet again.
Something that really annoys me is the Dodge mechanic in this game it's pointless evening having it if I'm doing anything other than standing still I can't dodge and by the timeline Emmy has attacked it's too late and I have been touched once and that's it I'm dead might as well leave the game I should be able to come out Midway through an animation like parrying for example or blocking Tigo into a Dodge instead of just being thrown about like a dog toy
As someone with all relic weapons and maxed all classes and completed all lethal, it left a sour taste. Yeah I’ve had success with the blocking and balanced weapons and can complete ruthless missions no problem but it’s not the same.
I play more PvP now to unlock everything again.
Perrying is just messed up and blocking still feels like it has issues to with the window for minor enemies it feels like thats where its effected the worst
Edit: heavys iron halo is also bugged an it makes using them annoying when you have to mash the ability button just to get it to work
I’m not noob with parry, I have been consistently a ruthless lvl player and occasionally doing lethal. I hate the new parry but I think it’s my own bug, however, I tested the mechanic on average and substantial and I struggled and died a lot and it’s been making everything harder. I tested all three and it’s been ridiculous and I think fencing needs to go back to what it was and balance should be a blend the 2 types and block is fine
I havent had much issue with parrying since the update, the only thing I noticed was parrying mutliple attacks at once is less consistent. That was my favorite part of the game though, sitting im a massive wave facing down 6 melee majoris and just being the fucking parry king for a bit

i dont have reddit. but i would like to tell my bug that happened yesterday. I play assault. i bounce between playing ruthless and substantial for quick money.
MY JetPack BLEW UP 3 TIMES. Full hp/full armor. I jumped, i had a lag spike then i was dead... not downed, dead. I asked my teammates what happened, one guy said he dindt see what happened, just on his screen i was full hp then dead. The other guy was right next to me, he said he seen a bright flash from me, then i was dead. this was in Substantial so theres nothing that can 1 shot, or even full dead you. Fast forward through the run. it happens again midway into the run, this time both of them seen it, they seen me use my jetpack into the air, then an explosion, and then i was full dead. right before the hive tyrant, it happened a 3rd time. only one seen it that time,, but he seen the same effect. at this point they were cracking jokes at me about be having a faulty jetpack or faulty/outdated armor.
Again, it was full/hp and armor to dead.. dead dead... not downed. and i did not have mortal wound debuff.... we started thinking maybe they added a new mechanic with a small chance of jetpack exploding.. but that doesnt sound fun.. but it was the only thing we could come up with
I main assault and know exactly what you're talking about. That's a bug from about the 2nd or 3rd patch. It went away. But I guess it's back if you've experienced it recently
I’ve had it multiple times as well. Had it happen a couple times on bulwark too. Just 100% dead and no clue as to what happened.
This parry bug is what making me a bit hesitant to try the new melee changes. I'm hoping a fix comes soon and someone makes a guide because I know I won't spot a difference.

I'm just glad that I'm finding out it's a bug & not a skill issue. Used to be able to parry most of the time & I thought I was getting worse at the game because I started missing parries that I normally had no problem with.

Is it a bug? I just noticed I can’t get parry’s after the animation has clearly hit, unlike before.
I don't play anymore, had 200+ hours all characters maxed and lethal completed. Now I am playing substantial levels and when I am against 4/5 warriors I am getting shredded because any parry miss and you just keep taking hits again and again. I can't even dodge as parry and dodge are blocked when you have been hit and are recovering.
Game is fine with 1 or 2 warriors but the action and fun is when you have 6-8 and some lictors etc. Now its just not fun and I don't want to relearn 200 hours of muscle memory for a game that isn't as good.
My enjoyment of the game is going down, with a noticeable decline in queue times and quality. Having major issues finding a 3rd for most parties, and on ruthless/lethal the NPC companions don't cut it. Very long times (as I type this) to find a match. I am wondering if it is because too many people are 'taking a break' or if there are server issues on the backend.

It's feels like the thousand sons got a nerf that they definitely needed, but I almost wish they were stronger now.
I haven't played since the end of September, so I didn't really notice but seeing everyone saying it's nearly impossible to block minoris and getring swarmed/getting nuked by the smaller enemies makes me feel a bit better about sucking on my first ever Ruthless Mission today. We did win, but by the skin of our teeth.
Pre parry adjustment I used to feel like I was John wick parrying multiple enemies and Gun a striking everything and everyone. Now I get shit on every time when I try to block a hit.
I think given enough time, most players would adjust to the fencing changes. It’s just getting used to new timing on the parry that’s the problem.
I still think blocking needs work. It doesn’t have enough utility like perfect parries/gunstrikes. Someone else mentioned it, but I think if they added some sort of stagger to a perfect block, it could help. I feel like as an assault/bulwark, you get stuck blocking in the middle of a swarm and the adrenaline stacks run out before you can use them. Maybe increase the window you have to use the stacks. But they’re also going to rework some weapon and class perks in the next couple of patches, so maybe that will add some addition utility to perfect blocks.
The bug is not with parrying, it's the controls. Parrying is fine.
It's a bug directly related to parrying.

Spamming parries shouldn’t be a viable strategy. A true Space Marine doesn’t rely on wildly swinging their weapon around and hitting away every enemy. We plan out our attack, we take our time with the coordination of our fellow Brothers and crush our enemies through superior positioning and overall force of will
Despite the changes I seem to be having no trouble with parry on the Heavy bonking them with the gun. If you're using Heavy it parries like the power sword, you want to hit parry at the very beginning of the enemy windup. It feels unnatural because it's so early but once you get the hang of it it's a breeze. At the very first sign of an attack windup hit parry. The actual parry can be waaay after you hit the button so I can see why folks miss it.

Bro, I've never had this many parries and gun strikes on the hive tyrant. I need a comprehensive video from one of yall pointing out the problem with parrying. I still use the gaunts in swarms to keep my armor up. It sounds like yall miss running in the middle of a horde and just spamming parry. The only thing broken for me is my reload.
I’ve noticed it basically feels like parry is more delayed and you can’t panic parry you gotta actually time it even with fencing but that is how it should be people truly are having a skill issue with this one block is good balance is good and fencing is good I have every weapon relic tier and all classes lvl25 I’ve already gotten all the new content and heraldry
I’ve used weapons pre buff and post buff and honestly yall are trippin saber is doing a good job and if you don’t think so then play another game I don’t need people to ruin my fun because they suck and can’t parry for shit Git Gud

Oh thank the Emperor! I went properly on for the first time since 5.0 release and thought i'd dropped a chromosome or something coz my parry timing was whacked. Glad to know its not me, lol.
I was playing assault yesterday with the fencing thunder hammer. All went well until i came across a majoris... That majoris just spammed the 2 hit combo where you have to parry twice to get a guard break and let me tell you... Doing the first parry is fine but the second swing is borderline impossible to parry (Or maybe i just suck but it really felt like its not possible)

😮Bulwark main, I also run assault so I prefer the melee combat, it has become more difficult for sure, started leveling Heavy and Tactical since the recent patch, don't spend a lot of time in melee range cause it does cause me to get frustrated sometimes, just practicing and learning the new mechanics occasionally when I feel like play melee, best we got till next update whenever that is.
Yeah, this parry bug makes playing with a bulwark very hard. It's hard to dodge with the bulwark because he can be so slow. I was doing so good leveling up my bulwark now it's been Ls 😅.
most of the time I play on ruthless or lethal and play as bulwark i parry most of the time only time I don't get a parry is if I panic and start parry spamming but I really just haven't had a problem with bulwark at all
For me, its not only this but keyboard and mouse controls being messed up. My mouse disconnects from the game, my stim button doesnt work 90% of the time, my ability maybe works, etc etc
I'm confident in my parry abilities, BUT, one bug that I have noticed was when the enemy throws a blue parry attack at me and I attempt to parry it, only for it to ignore the parry but somehow NOT hit me, then I parry the next attack but once again it doesn't go through and I don't get hit, and now the enemy is somehow gun strikable. There is a bug with the parry for sure, but I'm still landing my parries.
I've also been getting the bug where my controls just lock up. It seems to be immediately after a gunstrike. My guy just freezes and nothing works until he gets hit and staggered, then it's fine again. Happens sporadically. I'm on Xbox series s

Changed all my characters to block weapons, having no issues at all with the bugs at the time 😂 because thankfully isn't the only mechanic in the game.
Okay, I need to say something. I play on console, I have picked up heavy after bulwark, and started playing on lethal. However, ever since the game came out, I have personally not noticed any change whatsoever in the parry timings. Whether it’s average, substantial, ruthless or lethal, my parrying has been consistent throughout each update and difficulty. Maybe it’s just a console vs pc thing, but idk. I haven’t noticed any changes overtime. Anyone else on console or pc feel like this?
Edit: I also wanted to note that my heavy ability has weird input bug. I thought it was a pc only thing, but whatever. I just aim my weapon before activating the ability and it works fine from there.
I noticed similar behavior with heavy parry. Just to add, I love this class lol! It is so much fun.
Here I am, thinking I'm just not knowing how to parry. Was super frustrating, especially when playing a heavy and it is super important.
I believe it to be FPS dependent. I capped mine to 60 fps and basically never missed a single one, even against the whip warriors, doing parry spam. Either some logic got moved from "every physics frame" to "every frame", or in the parry calculations there is a problem on how the "delta" time (time between 2 physics frames) is being handled
The parry mechanic always had startup frames before the actual parry activated and I know the startup feels longer. Any attacks within that startup will interrupt the whole parry attempt. I noticed the changes while being minoris ganked as heavy and fencing bulwark - comparable IMO
Im guessing shifting to client-sided parry windows instead of server-side has been a mess coding-wise
My real problem with this if it was intentional is that it disrespects the time the players invested in learning the timing and the system, only to change it. Destiny was really bad at this for many years and I really hope we aren’t going down that road
I gotta say: As someone following the game from the outside because I lack the hardware to properly run the game, it's mindboggling how quick y'all change your mind. 1 day ago everyone was sucking up to the update saying it was the best since butter and bread, yet now you hate it lmao.
There was a lot of cool stuff in the patch, but they broke a core mechanic that a lot of people enjoyed in its prior state. Took a few days for people to catch on to it, since its a bug, so we had to figure out whats happening on our own. I still like the game, ofcourse, but it is frustrating when my favorite class got broken by accident.
The actual content drop was cool. Love the new mission, and even did it on Lethal. New enemy is one you actually need to pay attention to in a horde which adds something fun to combat with chaos. Cosmetics look amazing. All that being said, when one of the core mechanics feels worse than it did pre-patch then people will rightfully get frustrated after experiencing it for days on end.
I won’t discount anyone’s difficulty with fencing parries right now. I haven’t felt that much of difference and if there is, it’s not a difficult adjust. Whatever bug exists hasn’t completely broken parry 🤷♂️
I agree, I don't discount their difficulty with it because I also had to adjust and realise that before the patch I was mostly relying on spamming the button, I rewatch clips of how I die and notice I'm just pressing too early most of the time. On lethal this is how it should be on the hardest difficulty that we are forced to actually have skill and parry on time but I think any difficulty lower should have a little more window for parry. This maintains the power fantasy for the majority of players as by the comments it seems most people are rage quitting the whole game right now lol.

I'm not sure if it's placebo or because I'm more aware of it [and act with it in mind] but my fencing chainsword is hitting consistently compared to the power sword.
Its still over all just _off_ but idk fencing chainsword is what I'm sticking with for now.
I did notice the parry is weird, now I'm getting knocked around. I get people were only using fencing but you shouldn't nerf what works, buff what doesn't. To all the people saying we praised the update, speak for yourself. I never did that, I was on the fence right away. They need to fix fencing, buff balance, and tighten some screws on the block. As an Assault main I feel like I'm somehow always getting the short end of the stick. On the higher difficulty I'm being kicked from the groups for just being an assault.
idk man, I just lost the last 5 matches in a row on Ruthless which I can normally do pretty easily. Everyone in each match was struggling. Hopefully they resolve this soon; I'm heading home for Christmas and won't be playing anyway until next month. Right now, it's just too frustrating to deal with.

Its the input delay on the controls for pc due to the reset in keybinds for coding parrying still aint bad imo
Helldivers 2 amd Darktide, both had MASSIVE updates. Yet this game's update makes things worse. Yeah im good.
Never played Darktide, but every time Helldivers balances anything their playerbase loses their shit and calls it unplayable. People just like to cry when you remove an "I win all the time" button from their arsenal.

It’s not parry equipment & abilities are bugged too. I have had the melta bomb not go off & stay in the about to explode animation. Skills don’t work without switching weapons
The window on fencing was 0.495 now it’s 0 on bonus window timing
I played late last night and noticed the Perry was trash 🗑️. And it was on average difficulty. I was getting my butt kicked. And I'm good at Perry on all the difficulty levels. Immediately I was like - "Wtf!?! Why did y'all mess with this!?!" And YES!!! The balanced chain swords are MAD SLOW!!!
I just logged in and tried out the new patch, playing solo on Lethal as a bulwark with a blocking weapon feels borderline impossible. Well ... it is possible but very unenjoyable in my opinion.
The only thing I'm pissed about is the buggy key binds. I had to re-do a good hunk of them on PC since Q (originally my parry) just does.... well, whatever tf it wants lmfao.
Am i wrong for wanting a neutral banner that doesn't scream IM AN ULTRAMARINE on it? I dont expect a different banner for every chapter but geez could we please not have to see it constantly?
The timing is more specific, yes fencing is missing 0.17sec on its perfect window, but overall everything works just fine. Its only when you stop timing and start spamming while in a huge pack of guys that parry gets inconsistent. I generally dont bother parrying minoris, instead choosing to lunge and gun-strike/execute them. Fencing was way too broken before. Having one option being the correct choice for every situation all the time to the point that it pretty much guarantees victory regardless of player skill is terrible game design.

With the new parry system i haven’t noticed to much of a difference at least on ps5 other then a slight delay with the peek of my parry window where should have hit and i apparently did it to early so minors a little more though makes sense though since fencing prior you could spam it and kill an entire swarm of minorsus an ludicrous speed seemed a little unrealistic even for a space marine

They shoulda left parry as is and buffed the block mechanics. People get used to playing a certain way after like 3 months and like 100hrs of gameplay

There’s also more of a niche bug going around that a few people are experiencing. I use controller (on steam) and controller layout D. I can’t reload unless I sprint first. Annoying, but whatever. I switched to Assault, if I don’t sprint before reload I use my ability, and I also can’t interact with anything.
