I really hate how negative people are about player counts. It is NOT realistic to expect any game to hold almost 200k players consistently. The game is very healthy outside of the update cycle, and plenty of divers are in reserves ready to jump back in to play new content. There are good games dropping every month and thousands of good games people have on their backlogs, ofc they’re eventually going to migrate out as they get used to the new content. They’ll be back.

It would be cool if there was all 3 factions on one planet but there is a crossfire and they all attack each other and the helldivers have to evacuate items and citizens or nuke the site
I've thought about that too, like when factions spread out on the galactic map and come into contact with one another. You could be fighting on planets that contain both terminids and automatons, or illuminate and terminids or automatons and illuminate etc. Could make for some very interesting battles. I'm all for that.
It's rather obvious it's not the "Illuminate release" but "Illuminate introduction event". They only released units that mostly tell us how the faction will play (a horde of zombies backed up by a small amount of really strong units that will keep distance). Notice how the Illuminate don't even have bases now, their "outposts" are just landed ship with some stuff set up around them in a makeshift manner and there is no super fortress or anything extra on 10. So I fully expect them to do a full "Illuminate release" after the Calypso invasion is over (hopefully we win, although the planet is probably doomed in-lore anyway to be a graveyard). Maybe on Monday? Or maybe they'll let us breathe for a moment with smaller splinter invasions and then do the full release.
They'll definitely add more unit types. The Illuminate is currently lacking in variety and they added new units to the other factions over time as well. I'm not sure if they'll do a total revamp like you're talking though. I think the landed ships are going to be the illuminate outposts permanently. I'm also quite certain they won't be making significant additions within the next month. A few tweaks, and we'll eventually have to liberate Illuminate planets which means liberation-type missions we haven't seen yet, but content won't drop for close to 2 months, be sure of that.

The fact that its only one unit that calls reinforcement and able to kill them easily as well as it has a very forgiving grace period makes squids so much easier to play against. I find myself literally going deathless in super helldives.
One funny thing that i hope it is intenionally implemented and not a bug is that if you jump with the jump pack and open the map mid air, you will fall to the ground when landing. Thats really funny to me and it makes a lot of sense. Its like driving on the phone
All evacuation missions should be in the city biomes now, even if the evacuation thing is outside to utilize the old type I think it should still include a city tile. Would make that mission type in particular much more bearable.
I noticed since they released the new update you don't get random players joining you even if you put an SOS on I've been playing for the last couple of days and I haven't had a single random person joined me in a game
The Illuminate at the moment are way easier than the other two factions at the moment. I think the reason they do is because they’re brand new and they haven’t received all the enemy type updates the other two factions received and since we’re all experienced at this point, they’re a cake walk for the time being.
For me the Illuminates feel like a good balance right now. They also get a cool vibe going during missions. Even thought they don't seem to surpass the first two factions in difficulty terms, thats ok for me, because I don't like difficult enemies that are just difficult for the sake of it. My prime example being the heavy devastator of the autamtons. This unit is a sniper with a gattling gun and a big shield. Since launch this enemy ,for me, feels unfun fightin against because it has a massive defense and still gets to be able to be more pecise and offensive than the player with most of our arsenal. Stopping rant about devastator here....
its crazy to me that only 2 months is considered a long time when the reality is the speed they somehow made all this is insane yall really just don't understand how long it takes to make content because the AAA live service space pumps out bad content by the truck load and people eat the ish up
I find the enemies really easy. On my very first dive I got 600 kills and only died to my teammate. The enemies will grow for sure and I hope they just shadow drop them in the game without announcing anything, making people share clips of new foes creating community-generated hype.
Whipping around with friends in the new buggy has been the most fun I've had since launch. As stupid as it sounds I dont I will be able to not select it for literally every non defence mission in the future once we unlock it. One gripe I have though is that the wheels pop a bit too easily. Of course it's still driveable but even when it's missing just 1 wheel it can feel quite awful to drive especially when trying to make sharp turns
Of course it’s not going to last. Everyone gets bored eventually, but Arrowhead has reignited an already popular game, which is far better than most studios. I’d rather have a few huge drops per year sprinkled with small balance changes.
it’s probably because I’m a big hell diver fan, and also that also played the first game, but with the content they added here is enough to keep my interest for almost as many months as the game has been released, just adding a vehicle was already gonna keep me interested in the game for a very long time!!
I would like to see the Illuminate experiment on the other factions like Terminids that are evolved to warp around or Automatons with their shield technology
If you look up the leaks there are a lot more Illuminate enemy types coming soon. Iron-sights leaks show a few more that we haven't seen yet as well as different illuminate biomes and mission types. The current tri-pods we see and fight against are just the baby tri-pods and the real ones will be much harder and bigger
1. They hack automatons and start building automaton illuminate hybrids 2. we start seeing Illumaton outposts where theres new tech, like jammers with shields, Energy Mortar outposts etc 3. Energy railcannon Anti Air/ship outposts/missions where you have to do timed runs before they shoot down your ship 4. They exploit Terminid biomass to build gas weapons and enhanced stormtrooper units that explode gas in a small radius when they die 5. They tame/braincontrol some of the terminids to use them as mounts of sorts, think charger with a laser gun turret on its back 6. signal towers to aggravate terminids and incite more frequent bug swarms
that’s right as far as the illuminate this only a quarter of the faction, one illuminate character I’m looking forward to see on the battlefield which is the Illusionist which was in the first game, which has a shield and shoots out little plasma bombs that do damage to you and invert your controls, exactly what it did in the first game. Can’t wait until arrowhead comes out with that unit. I’m curious to see how that will work and hell divers to third person.
Imagine you’re just fighting bugs with the boys and then you see “illuminate ship detected” mid fight and they warp in as the soundtrack with that synthesizer starts popping off. That would be wild.
I know this is just the vanguard as they say and a greater force is on the way with new enemies but yeah I agree so far they are not different at all. It’s very rare that I die against them after my very first encounter. Theres needs to also be maybe one or two more enemy types but I know thats on the way
The iluminate are easyer for now as there are only 4 enemy types for now, once they come in propper we are going to see more unit veriation that will be like fighting in a sci fi horror movie
HD1 vets will know what's to come unit wise, I'm excited for the community, just wait til they pull out the shield generator units that split you in half if you're caught in the middle when the shield is generated.
First time back after not playing for about 6 months and the weapons FINALLY feel good to use and actually do damage like they are should. The game is in a really good place so I'm looking forward to new mission types and whatever else they have planned.
Actual Illuminate snipers would make an interesting addition, if AH takes the dual faction approach. Have them spawn in like the bonus obj that don't show on mission select / deployment. Thell be like stalkers in stealth but instead of rushing to melee theyll try to maneuver amd take pot shots.
The Illuminates have not released all of their enemy variants yet. There are still more powerful enemies we've yet to encounter, and the attack on Calypso is just the first wave.
The Illuminate we are currently fighting are the vanguard. Also we as Helldivers are a lot more experienced and hardened than we were before. The weapons we have and the strategyms we use are also better. So it’s natural that they feel not as hard.
It'd be cool to see a 4th faction or an "all-in-one faction" of the Illuminate, Terminids, and Automatons all combined together. Maybe the illuminate fights both automatons and teminids and takes them over but uses its own tech to mutate and combine them all into each other. Imagine a giant Bile Titan that's blue looking and deformed like the voteless but has lasers and guns like the Tri-Pod and Automaton enemies. Seems like they would be very hard enemy types to fight in my opinion and very challenging
The illuminate are the most atmospheric enemies to go against, i really feel like im in an intergalactic war against technology superior aliens its awesome
I think the illuminate update is great, I would say they are harder than the bugs but about on par with the bots. However, if this is only the first wave, if they start adding stuff similar to the factory strider, they could get really tough. Either way I'm super excited. I also really hope they add the city biome to terminid and automaton planets also.
Not sure how it’ll be in the future, but I ended up finding one of those vehicles in a city during the illuminate invasion. Pretty fun to drive, but couldn’t for the life of me find out how to drive in reverse. Got stuck and blown up after cruising for a bit
content rate would be close to 1 drop per 6 weeks, with a slower release post new year and post the summer holidays. so I'm not expecting anything substantial until about mid February. This drop did do a few awkward things, its the first time a weapon enters the premium shop. and its the first time the armor directly affects how the weapon operates. Before this patch, no armor affected weapon stats, I can understand the bonus ammo ...you can add pockets...but what improves the reload speed? There will definitely be more enemies in that faction, there are currently only like 5-6 (zombie, possibly a weaker zombie, flying drone, flying overseer, overseer and harvester) this is really bare bones and probably why the higher difficulties are easier then the other factions (as all enemies are active as early as difficulty 3 of 10 and appear without specific missions on difficulty 4) the warbond has a lot of stuff, but I think they won't last long, placements and turrets are just not popular despite their power and shields and melee weapons are fun, but players tend to gravitate to power so their use will drop to mine level. the armor being the only thing that will last as it provides a general offensive buff.
If only we had some loyalty to helping other helldivers, I have been by myself for seven different illuminate missions that’s crazy there can’t be 70,000 people on this planet
What do you guys think about samples? This update is great and I’m super excited for the future of this amazing game but we’re long overdue for something to use our samples on. Maybe once they update the DSS we’ll be able to use samples there somehow?
Arc blitzer is really good can stun lock jetpack guys overseers walkers and crowds of zombies. No reloads needed, probably best if one person is using it the others with MGs / etc
I really hope AH didn't make a huge mistake by releasing the illuminate without any new personal progression systetm. Because the lack of things to upgrade and grind for is what I think made people leave the game in the first place.
@zemo9656 Every game needs some sort of progression, that's the most basic thing thatll added replay value. Mindless shooting with no reward gets old fast.
If anything, at least arrowhead can say a lack of personal progression is intended as a critique of closeted authoritarian nations like Super-Earth. The war will also never end because the powers that be have decided it would be easier to hold on to power if it never ended.
If i would be dev, i would announce beginning of the invasion as they. Just few types of enemies. Take a notes as how players and streamers react to those, what they hate what they love. Base on that do adjust those enemis properties and thx to that adjust those who didnt apper. This way they dont have to work on 8-10-14 types of enemies at once. And this way they didnt have to fear that there would be too much OP as f types of enemeis for their audience at once.
Big content updates are better than drip feed content imo. It fits thematically and the drip feed stuff can be done through MOs like they have done previously. Also I’m sure the illuminate rn is just the scout units like was said
See the thing about the DSS is that I fell like alot of people got way to hyped for features that Arowhead themselves didn't promise. Like the whole Guild rumor going around when it was just being built and whatnot. I also think alot of TH-camrs didn't help with fueling that..
They won’t buff the illuminate, they’ll just flesh out the faction with more enemies which will increase the difficulty. Right now they feel kinda easy because there’s only a few enemy types, and they mostly fall into archetypes we already know (overseers = devastators/berserkers, voteless = terminid chaff, harvester = vile titan). Once the weird enemies that invert controls start coming in, then they’ll be a pain in the ass like the other two
The only thing that will keep a game alive isnt content alone. Its reward factor. Helldivers doesnt have reward factor. A lot of games are falling victim to this. I played this new update for abour 5 hours and then asked what has changed in 5 hours? Nothing did. Not my guns, not my strategems, not the overall defense of the planet. This is what they need to combat and really be working on. The gameplay is peak, but the reason to play leaves tou wanting More. Wishing for a progression system to get stronger, modify your look better, create more build diversity. This game has a strong foundation, but i fear without proper progression systems it wont ever be as successful as it deserves. Id love to see illumante riding chargers into battle and such. But they will need to make us much more powerful before that happens. Another small grip i have is them locking stragems behind warbonds. Thats blantely pay to win. Especially when players take long breaks, they dont have super credits from playing the game and it encourages paying for the warbond. I love fighting for democracy but players want a reason to play. I literally have a helldivers tattoo, but it just isnt respectful of my time.
I wish they released a code red/red alert to get in the game in fight an imminent threat... hinting the illuminate just arrived... make the announcement as a emergency broadcast, keep it within lore lol
I believe the illuminate will pop up from planet to planet not just attacking from one edge of the galaxy I saw a video i believe from playstation access where they were fighting the illuminate on the planet mog a snow planet which is not close to calypso we will have to wait and see
The new environment plus the music sometimes completely reminds me of ODST I've got 400 in mission hours and it looks like AH just gave me another 400 this is the best money I have ever spent 😅❤

One funny thing that i hope it is intenionally implemented and not a bug is that if you jump with the jump pack and open the map mid air, you will fall to the ground when landing. Thats really funny to me and it makes a lot of sense. Its like driving on the phone
Haha! I didn't know that!
Planet by Planet.
Colony by Colony.
Block by Block.
The Squid Eaters are ready.
CALAMARI FOR DINNER
Imagine the whole bottom of the galactic map get taken by the main illuminate fleets showing how large the main army is
I really hope that one day helldivers gets a theater mode like GTA V so we can get videos like the old halo machinima clips
All evacuation missions should be in the city biomes now, even if the evacuation thing is outside to utilize the old type I think it should still include a city tile. Would make that mission type in particular much more bearable.
I wonder if the factions will go to war aswell.. could make for some great missions with multiple enemies fighting and attacking you
I noticed since they released the new update you don't get random players joining you even if you put an SOS on I've been playing for the last couple of days and I haven't had a single random person joined me in a game
Me and my friend had the same problem last night
For me, that has always been a problem despite them saying they fixed it.
That's because some of us are having issues it lets you play halfway and then it freezes that's why you not seeing random people jumping in
Thats an issue with your internet. Its host based So you host the lobby. players simply cannot connect to you for whatever reason
That was an old problem that's now resurfaced... oh dear.
This is only the Squid Vanguard Force !
its crazy to me that only 2 months is considered a long time when the reality is the speed they somehow made all this is insane yall really just don't understand how long it takes to make content because the AAA live service space pumps out bad content by the truck load and people eat the ish up
I find the enemies really easy.
I really believe they’re doing the slow release for the story. Not even for testing
Still got APC, HAV, scout bikes and big boy BASTION for vehicles
I love the Illuminate faction, they play in a very nice blend of the two initial factions
They'll probably do something big for the 1 year anniversary
I can feel its a given that more enemy types will shadow drop like they did in the first months of the game.
I would like to see the Illuminate experiment on the other factions like Terminids that are evolved to warp around or Automatons with their shield technology
I hope they don't fix the car physics, I have a professional car tennis career now
Sending the cars flying with the spear has been my favorite part of the update. If you dive into the bed of a car it has a chance to go flying too!
1. They hack automatons and start building automaton illuminate hybrids
2. we start seeing Illumaton outposts where theres new tech, like jammers with shields, Energy Mortar outposts etc
3. Energy railcannon Anti Air/ship outposts/missions where you have to do timed runs before they shoot down your ship
4. They exploit Terminid biomass to build gas weapons and enhanced stormtrooper units that explode gas in a small radius when they die
5. They tame/braincontrol some of the terminids to use them as mounts of sorts, think charger with a laser gun turret on its back
6. signal towers to aggravate terminids and incite more frequent bug swarms
that’s right as far as the illuminate this only a quarter of the faction, one illuminate character I’m looking forward to see on the battlefield which is the Illusionist which was in the first game, which has a shield and shoots out little plasma bombs that do damage to you and invert your controls, exactly what it did in the first game. Can’t wait until arrowhead comes out with that unit. I’m curious to see how that will work and hell divers to third person.
pls no… jus no
Imagine you’re just fighting bugs with the boys and then you see “illuminate ship detected” mid fight and they warp in as the soundtrack with that synthesizer starts popping off. That would be wild.
Hope they fix the server issues, having a really hard time playing with friends
I know this is just the vanguard as they say and a greater force is on the way with new enemies but yeah I agree so far they are not different at all. It’s very rare that I die against them after my very first encounter. Theres needs to also be maybe one or two more enemy types but I know thats on the way
One of the best content drops of all time!
Illuminate before GTA6 is wild
Arrowhead add vehicle flip button, so i can open up my recon atv and send it...
The iluminate are easyer for now as there are only 4 enemy types for now, once they come in propper we are going to see more unit veriation that will be like fighting in a sci fi horror movie
Thanks!
No we do have 2 new big things to look forward to
the gloom and the cyberstan sector
It'd be cool to see a 4th faction or an "all-in-one faction" of the Illuminate, Terminids, and Automatons all combined together. Maybe the illuminate fights both automatons and teminids and takes them over but uses its own tech to mutate and combine them all into each other. Imagine a giant Bile Titan that's blue looking and deformed like the voteless but has lasers and guns like the Tri-Pod and Automaton enemies. Seems like they would be very hard enemy types to fight in my opinion and very challenging
Squids are not that difficult at the moment cos heaviest unit they have right now is equal to chargers. There are more to come
The illuminate are the most atmospheric enemies to go against, i really feel like im in an intergalactic war against technology superior aliens its awesome
we need a zombie only map. endless hordes
When the Boss fights comes it will be glorious.
Also...imagine if they did an in universe lore alliance between the Bots and Illuminate. That would be very cool.
content rate would be close to 1 drop per 6 weeks, with a slower release post new year and post the summer holidays. so I'm not expecting anything substantial until about mid February. This drop did do a few awkward things, its the first time a weapon enters the premium shop. and its the first time the armor directly affects how the weapon operates. Before this patch, no armor affected weapon stats, I can understand the bonus ammo ...you can add pockets...but what improves the reload speed?
There will definitely be more enemies in that faction, there are currently only like 5-6 (zombie, possibly a weaker zombie, flying drone, flying overseer, overseer and harvester) this is really bare bones and probably why the higher difficulties are easier then the other factions (as all enemies are active as early as difficulty 3 of 10 and appear without specific missions on difficulty 4)
the warbond has a lot of stuff, but I think they won't last long, placements and turrets are just not popular despite their power and shields and melee weapons are fun, but players tend to gravitate to power so their use will drop to mine level. the armor being the only thing that will last as it provides a general offensive buff.
I feel like the ghouls have become the voteless
No....the ghouls clearly are mutch more big and muscular, also have 4 arms and a "common" squid head
I think the ghouls will be a late-stage voteless. Similar to the gnome being a late-stage takeover of a headcrab zombie.
If only we had some loyalty to helping other helldivers, I have been by myself for seven different illuminate missions that’s crazy there can’t be 70,000 people on this planet
They're as uncannily scary as the leaks of their existence
You've only fought like, half of the illuminate. The other half are going to piss you the fuck off.
Because the lack of things to upgrade and grind for is what I think made people leave the game in the first place.
there's more to a game than that. if they want progression and grinding there's RPGs and MMORPGs for that. this isn't what that is
@@zemo9656 he isn’t necessarily wrong tho, a good personal progression system would definitely keep the player count up
They had this in HD1, I'm sure they'll bring it back.
Squid's back on the menu boys!
Big content updates are better than drip feed content imo. It fits thematically and the drip feed stuff can be done through MOs like they have done previously.
Also I’m sure the illuminate rn is just the scout units like was said
I’m sure they will add more. We need more variety of zombies and big units 🙂👍
See the thing about the DSS is that I fell like alot of people got way to hyped for features that Arowhead themselves didn't promise. Like the whole Guild rumor going around when it was just being built and whatnot. I also think alot of TH-camrs didn't help with fueling that..
It's only the beginning
There just the vanguard the first wave of the attack and there doing gorilla warfare
Guerilla, ya big monkey 😂
These are purely a scouting force, only 5 units, no bases, no super units, etc.
The real fun has yet to begin.
I think they should focus on making the illuminate fun to fight before doing anything else
They are deff gonna buff the iluminate
They won’t buff the illuminate, they’ll just flesh out the faction with more enemies which will increase the difficulty. Right now they feel kinda easy because there’s only a few enemy types, and they mostly fall into archetypes we already know (overseers = devastators/berserkers, voteless = terminid chaff, harvester = vile titan). Once the weird enemies that invert controls start coming in, then they’ll be a pain in the ass like the other two
I cant find that interview with ign, can sb link it pls?
I like when they just drop stuff out of the blue, I hate the expectation of people and the i must know everything all the time.
Join the X-Divers! (X-Com Helldivers). Just what i call the anti Illuminate Helldivers. Fitting if you ask me.
8:10
Apparently they cant get away with anything because we absolutely SHUT THEM DOWN! 😂
where did you find that interview? pls
For me personally I don’t think the illuminate are boring it’s just in comparison to the termineds they are. Bug killing is very satisfying😂.
I believe the illuminate will pop up from planet to planet not just attacking from one edge of the galaxy I saw a video i believe from playstation access where they were fighting the illuminate on the planet mog a snow planet which is not close to calypso we will have to wait and see
Imagine a modifier that has a possible chance for Illuminati to spawn
The new environment plus the music sometimes completely reminds me of ODST I've got 400 in mission hours and it looks like AH just gave me another 400 this is the best money I have ever spent 😅❤
Stilp got to get the council member, obelisks, and whatever they got cooked up, they at like 2/3 of their potential, prob 1/2...
I think the ragdoll auto prone needs work, noticing input lag...
As long as they don’t cater to the average solo player it will always just keep dropping off until it dies.
You can play solo and have no issues so what do you mean?
Aint gon be no mix fights, the game engine might explode...
Next faction: The Dissidents! 😊
I wish they'd make the Machine Gun a primary.
