Bazooka Bill reminds me a lot of one of my classmate in elementary. He was huge just like Bill and actually two - three years older than the rest of us. He's a but dumb but nice. He was our core in every physical games and we won everytime because of him. 🙂
this cartoonist(mangaka), Mr.Tatsuya Endo says he respects Mr. Togashi (mangaka of hunter×hunter) in the interview of the official S×F fan book so it could be expected this episode is homage(reference) of the hunter×hunter dodgeball episode. maybe Bill is imaged from Razor. Catching ball by one hand is completely same as him. S×F is often drawn many homage from other mangas. As a side note, Yor & Anya's training and Damian, Emile & Ewen' training scenes (including DB homage) and Emile &Ewen's small play scene (including Slam Dunk homage) are all anime original.
