Sometimes, you get a new job and it's HORRIBLY stressful. Getting a higher paying job doesn't mean you'll be happier.

I remember the Duggars in Arkansas used to say in my own words, save for high cost, hope for a lower cost, then save the difference. I am trying to save for a used car, hopefully better than my $4000 clunker.

In my experience you will only get paid more in a company if you change positions in the company. Most of the time if I want to get paid more I go to another company.

I don’t really agree with this. I think a raise is good but you need to ask what the company will require of you. Sometimes maybe doing something else on the side is the option

Just look for another job. You'll never make a bigger jump in pay than going elsewhere. You hurt yourself staying at the same place.

Companies only respond to requests if you have another offer in hand. I have even been literally asked 'Do you have another offer? ' before making a decision how to respond.

Exactly. Why why ask for a progress plan (or whatever he called it) and work harder to get just what you deserved in the first place? Especially when another job will pay you more.

While I see your points here, I will say that the philosophy of walking on egg shells around your boss in regards to money is what has caused so many of the resignations I have seen. If people (both workers and bosses) were upfront and honest about their expectations and desires, most people would be a lot happier. Work doesn't have to be a game. If you truly had a leader at your job, they would hate the idea of you having to waste your energy on playing some bs game. Spend your energy on solving problems and getting things done. Let's move past this culture of fakeness.

Gas prices are not up due to the Ukraine conflict. It’s due to this administrations war on oil and gas. Shutting down down keystone pipeline. Ending new leases on drilling. Unwilling to tap into Alaska’s vast oil oceans. It is however true that the Russia v Ukraine conflict has increased prices for fertilizer. This will probably affect our food cost for the next few years.

There's a few assumptions here. 1) That your boss has any power to give you a raise. 2) That your boss even knows if they have the power to give you a raise. 3) That your boss would even know how to give you a raise even after they knew 1) they had the power and 2) they knew they had the power to give you a raise.
If I tried to have this conversation with my boss he'd probably say something along the lines of "I don't know, talk to HR."
