I am 23 year old. I don’t much influence or person to look up too. TH-cam has been my mother and father/ friend and professional mentor. That’s how much I appreciate this video. Thank you💕🙏🏾
aw thank you so much this comment made my day! Please let me know if you would want to see any other videos. My next video is actually going to be on negotiating your first tech job offer so be sure to check that one out :)
Thank you Amara, I’m a systems engineer seeking to transition to product management. Your insights are very useful and I spotted somethings that I need to work on. Thank you!

PM is certainly a very interesting topic. I also like that you give the parallel between PM and a conductor. You may have very talented musicians, but without a good conductor, they do nothing. So you are the key element to make your team work valuable. But it is a bit scary, what if you do a wrong move.
Please more PM videos, I'm starting a PM class and will start creating a portfolio to switch from my Customer Support role to PM. I need all the motivation I can get!
It doesn't feel like watching a video from youtube, instead I feel more like a mentor giving me advices and motivating me to "go get it!!" This is VERY helpful, big time! I'm a industrial designer student, and i know very well how complicated it is to make a solution from a certain problem through design. These tips were very helpful and insightful for me to understand more how I should do things if I want to pursue my career in PM.
This is a really fantastic video with great advice. I've seen a few videos about becoming a product manager and yours had the most valuable information to me. The tip about being critical of products let me know I already think like a product manager for fun and cemented that this is the direction I want to go. Thank you. I feel like down the line, I'm going to come back to this video and thank you again for where I am in the future.
Thank you for all the tips. I currently work for a tech company as a CX specialist but I am hungry for more and this gave me some actionable steps. Thank you
this video is amazing!! i have an APM interview tomorrow and i've been prepping all week~ thanks so much for all your tips 🤩 also i LOVE your analogy of a PM to a conductor of an orchestra!! i've played in orchestras for most of my childhood and early 20s and i definitely had a eureka moment when you shared that!
I’m in data now and I feel like product management may be a better fit for me because of my ability to orchestrate and communicate clear instruction/ need to action. However the dynamic between the PM and engineering team is still a blur to me. Are you managing PEOPLE? That’s what I really need to know. Are meetings typically ran by the PM or the collaborators? Are PM’s doing more listening than speaking? These details I find very important while considering switching roles…Great video!
Thank you for this video! I’m making a career chance from clinical research/academic medicine to tech and was looking at PM Microsoft internships and thank you for the insight and explaining what it means. There’s so many roles in which I’ve never heard before!
Thank you so much for actually breaking down PM in a language I can understand. I have actually been looking into PM myself and wanted to know do you necessarily need a cert for PM?
Hi Amara, thanks for tour video. Am new to Scrum. I have the PSM 1 and now looking to get unto Safe. I have some good knowledge with Safe but dont know if i should go for safe Scrum master or safe product owner. Would love to hear from you. Thanks
🙏🏾PERFECT delivery with your communication in these videos! I used that same analogy on my resume😂(Before I saw this, I didn't copy, I swear!) Did you really get this position without any "experience"?? I'm applying for marketing manager after being self-employed for 10+ years, but I just might go after this position too and see what lands! Thank YOUUU!!!
I am glad it helped :) I had an internship in the space before getting a full time role but other than that - I had no experience beforehand. I know a couple of people who have pivoted into this field with no experience and this has helped them.
Hello Amara!! Thanks a lot for this. I am from Nigeria and I want to transition into the tech industry. I want to get into PM and I literally have no idea how to go about it. Please I really need your advice! Thanks a lot.
You vidieo is so relatable and funny (such as the Game of thrones music :). Did you edit your own video? I love the editing style. great tips regarding building product to gain experience and answered the most asked questions: do you need a tech degree~
Hi, Amarachi this is amazing, you just gained an organic follower🥰well my question is can i get a PM job without a degree? I have been taking course on Pm for months now but I'm not settled with this side.
Would you say that Project/Product Management Certificates, like from google, hold any weight when applying to jobs? Specifically, would it be beneficial for someone with a technical/coding background to get one of these certificates if they want to be a PM?
HI, it was great to find your video while in search of my PM career hunt , i am just fresher have no experience , but i have innovative and problem solving and leadership skills , only thing i am lacking is no knowledge in technical tools . i am more interested in analysing and doing research about the issues than just developing the product, can you help me how can i start my journey to PM or APM from scratch?
Great info! Thank you 💕 I have a background in accounting and finance and I want to transition into fintech. Any training /certification programs you think would be a good fit?
