Going through the process of elimination I was able to determine where water was leaking into the trunk. Until now I have never personally come across this cause for a water leak. I would have assumed the taillight gaskets failed and were now leaking.

Thanks for the video. I just discovered my 07 accord had a trunk leak when my kid could not get the spare out. Called roadside assistance and the two truck operator used, "A huge hammer" and just went to town. To anyone who has experienced this leaking issue, MAKE SURE YOU CAN GET THE SPARE OUT!!!... DO NOT WAIT UNTIL YOU ARE STRANDED ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD!!! Apparently it was no mean feat.... and if it is stuck... HAMMER TIME~ That said, a Dremel with a cutting blade would probably be a lot easier...

"Through the roof" sealant is perfect. You can apply it when it's wet and down to 20 below. Last way longer than silicone

Good stuff. New Honda leak for me looks like the sealer Honda used was insufficient, under applied or poor. However Honda trunk leaks I've repaired so far were 15 years old or older. 06 civic EX I bought new is as weird as the one you showed but follows a similar root cause. Tks Again.

I think my '04 Accord has an analogous problem where the old seal gave out. I gave this a shot because the main weatherstrip didn't look like the culprit. My end result wasn't as cosmetically pleasing as yours, but I'll see if it gets the job done.

Not on this car but on others I’ve had the drain channels that run near the front door hinges get clogged with debris like pine needles and leafs. The channel drains at the front mid flap. If it gets clogged your floorboards may become wet.

These civics are know to have leak issues. Just fixed many of mine on my 2008 civic. Used FlexSeal on all the body seams. Had to remove the rear window removed, clean the window cutout opening and the glass itself. Flexsealed the body seams under the glass, had the glass reset. Now dry.
Still can't get door window leaks stopped even by installed new seals. Grrrrrrr!
