    Extremely helpful! My daughter has the exact same leaks in her trunk. Thank you for taking the guesswork out and sharing. God bless you, sir.

    The sealer is robotically applied. Windshield front and rear are robotically installed onto the sealer. I'm Honda all products from 12 years old but this is just poor assembly control on Honda's part. Good investigation and comments. I was of the opinion that there shouldn't be a water leak from the front and rear glass due to the sealers used and both front and rear glass become a stressed member of the vehicles body.
    Once again good stuff and TH-cam popped this up because I've been looking for a solution to my 06 civic EX that has a leak as you mention. TKS.

    Thank you for this video, in Oregon it rains an average of 171 days. My trunck makes a good fish tank. I'm working on fixing this issue.

    I have an '06 Accord coupe with sunroof and man...this thing seems to leak everywhere! I have had problems with the sunroof drains just popping out of the end fittings (apparently Honda though it was good enough to have them just sit inside the fitting with nothing holding them in place), the seal around my windshield, seal around the rear window and also places in the trunk pointed out in this video. There is a seam on the roof where the window pillars meet at the top of the windshield, that seam was leaking too! This to me is what happens when you allow a good overseas product to be assembled in America. Slack ass work! I will be buying Acuras from now on which are still imported from Japan.

    Do you think if you brought it to a window glass shop they could take the rear window out and just reseal it?

    • @garyhamilton4874
      @garyhamilton4874 4 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      Yes, a glass shop can reseal. I found another leak in my 2007 accord. Unbelievable, but it was leaking into exactly the same spot as the video. I performed the actions as per the video, still had a leak. Kept searching for a solution, spending numerous additional hours investigating.
      The problem was too simple to believe, a 1 minute fix. When you open the trunk lid, there are 2 rubber bumpers, or stops, visible (one on each side of the lid). Where those rubber bumpers meet the trunk lid is on the exterior of the trunk seal when the trunk lid is closed. The driver's side bumper was not properly waterproof sealed to the trunk lid (was able to turn it by hand), thus water was entering while it was flowing around the trunk seal. I put some silicone sealant around the entire base of the rubber bumper. Next downpour, the trunk was completely dry. I hope this 1 minute fix saves many, many people from wasting hours of their time troubleshooting. I really feel like an idiot now, but it was right there in front of me and I just didn't realize that could be causing the problem. I never found it until I exhausted all other possible leak areas.

    Whats your panels wet at all for you be able to tell or was it just leaking from there and you figured thats how it was getting in? I have an 06 Honda accord same color too. Im having a leak from that smaller hole right next to the one you pointed out if you were if you have moved out to the right left one space

  • @brandonsalas6552
    @brandonsalas6552 ปีที่แล้ว

    But to be honest it’s just a 2007 Honda I think I’d rather just run some silicone all the way around the window Then open the trunk and put that inspiration on the bolts

    IF YOU HAD REPLACED THE REAR WINDOW INSULATION BY REMOVING THE BACK WINDOW AT A GLASS INSTALLATION PLACE WOULD THAT HAVE SOLVED THE PROBLEM RATHER THAN RISK DAMAGING THE AIR BAG WIRING.
