Master Star Citizen's New Pip Targeting in 2 Minutes | Star Citizen 2024

- Fixing the pip with one keybind!
In this video I cover how Star Citizen's new pip system works, and while I think it's overall pretty well thought out, there are some blind spots. I go over a simple keybind change that prevents your pip from fading and allows the pip to appear on a target at all times, allowing for easier tracking, targeting, and mostly importantly: putting lots of damage on your enemies fast.
Some of the changes under master modes in Star Citizen are complex -- but this one isn't. Changing your pip to function this way will give you a huge dogfighting advantage over anyone who hasn't figured it out.

I've been playing for 8 years, and consume a lot of sc content. This is S tier, non clickbait, informative. Thanks dude
You're totally welcome man. This means a lot to me to hear.
Yea, looking forward to trying this tomorrow night!
Let me know how it goes.
How do you have fun in this game? I wanted to get into this game for a loooong time. Purchased myself an Aurora starter pack recently and hopped in.
Turned out it's completely and utterly absurd how the game is bugged. I'd rather call it a troubleshoot simulator where the game is bugged on purpose. I've spent about 7-8 hours trying to earn up to 50k. I managed to complete only 3 quick delivery missions in that time wasting massive amounts of time due to bugs.
Tractor beam not working,
boxes teleporting back to my hands after I place them,
warping into planets,
not being able to power up my ship,
crashes,
elevators not coming when called,
character being stuck and not being able to move after server swap,
missions simply not counting/completing even though I did what was there to be done,
character teleporting back to the train,
falling off the map after teleporting back to the train that already took off,
weapon stuck in a strange position in the character's body,
hangar that never opens so I'm stuck outside.
And I just started playing the game. How and why would anyone justify to play this bugfest? Or maybe I'm doing something wrong? I don't see anybody on youtube having so many issues. How do you manage to play this game? It's unplayable from my experience.
@@redrocker1582 i have fun by training with my org in Arena commander until meshing hopefully fixes the PU.
No opening, No "Hi I'm (insert channel name), today we are (insert title here)", Straight to the point. 100/10 would recommend. would watch again.
HEY HEY ITS YOUR BOY SKINNY PENIS HERE AND IVE GOT THIS FIRE SETTING FOR YOU THATS GONNA UP YOUR GAME BUT FIRST GUYS I NOTICED THAT ONLY 10% OF MY VIEWERS ARE SUBBED SO PLZ SMASH THAT SUB BUTTON IT REALLY HELPS ME OKAY OK NOW TURN THIS SETTING ON BYE
@@BuzzCutPsycho lmao this is hilarious!! Because it's true
@@BuzzCutPsycho Subbing just for this comment right here.
@@btr003 LOL TY
This is exactly the type of short form content we need. Straight and to the point. Big kudos ❤
I love the pip lines and magnification. Helps me understand what orientation enemy fighters are flying in at!
although to me it seems that the 'precision lines' always shows the target at 90 degrees of their actual orientation?
Glad to hear it!
It's a bit inconsistent, but it helps me visually to some degree. Personally.
Best 1:46 of my month.
based
Clear, concise, non-clickbaity. Thanks man!
You're welcome.
Good advice. I'm gonna combine these with my toggle lag pip as well. I always forget until I'm in the middle of a fight, but hopefully these visuals will also help me remember.
Glad to help. I love em.
That's how you do a tutorial. Quick, easy, informative.
Thx man !
Glad you liked it!
OMG you just took my dogfighting experience to a new height.
It’s been bad enough I been stuck on Star Citizen ever since 3.23 update and loving every minute of it.
It’s people like you that keep me in there when I have uninstalled SC so many times over a decade.
I see your posts and I am well aware of your experience from the Planetside days, your a legend.
Thank you for everything you do and I look forward to seeing you Star Citizenside.
Thank you so much! Even as a jaded man this made me smile. This is such a sweet comment, thank you.
Short and sweet, straight to the point, LOVE this!
Wow this is the second one of these I've ever received. Thank you so much! I actually hope this helps you out a lot and makes the game better for you in some way. I've got a few more lined up I'm working on. I take for granted a lot of the information I have and thanks to some commenters in previous videos I'm learning to be a bit more open to sharing knowledge I think others may already know. This is an example of that.
@@BuzzCutPsycho That's great to hear! Looking forward to seeing more from you!
Dude, you are a godsend. I’ve been riding the struggle bus big time, this will help immensely. Thank you!
Glad it helped! Now you too can own.
Finally a SC video that's both useful and short. Great advice thank you.
You're welcome!
Short, informative and to the point. Plus no click bait. Thx
you are welcome! new one coming soon
This is one of the biggest issues i had with this game besides bugs. No idea that circle is called target pip, so very happy to have watched this
I am glad you did.
One of the best less than two minutes I ever spent on a SC video. Great stuff, thanks a lot!
Glad you enjoyed it! I keep them as short and long as they need to be.
1:36 "Think of this like a preflight button" gave me an idea. Instead of Insert key, I use Left Alt+N paired with the On instead of Toggle versions of the hotkeys. Now whenever I get in a ship and call ATC with the default Left Alt+N hotkey, all of my settings from this video are set. I also have Lag Pip On set (preferred playstyle), and also switched Flight Systems On from its default Right Alt+R to Left Alt+N. That button does everything when I first board my ship!
Damn that's really slick actually. Good thinking.
Awesome video!!! I didn't even know these buttons existed. They finally made pips for old people to see lol. I already had a G-Safe Toggle button on my stick so it I didn't have to find a new button. I did do it slightly different. Instead of using the toggle options I used the Lines On, Magnification On and Fading Off keybinds so I can never accidentally turn them back to default. Thanks
Glad I could help! I saw you joined our Discord too. Check your DMs.
.....ummm goddam thats a very quick, extremely useful, concise video.... I appreciate this very much. Liked and subscribed. NICE!
You are welcome!
This was very informative. Thank you. Its times like these i wonder why someone would downvote help. Thanks mate, please keep sharing useful knowledge like this.
Probably because they hate me. :)
Excellent tip. I'm going to rebind this when I get off work.
Excellent! Let me know how you like it.
This Sir, is prolly one of the most helpfull, no bullshit tutorials :)
you are welcome!
Great video subbed! I really hope SC has an overhaul of the controls soon and streamlines the process.
I hope so too! It is not good for new players to experience such unnecessary hurdles.
The world needs more people like you.
I dont know about that. There is only enough room in this world for one me. ;)
Great heads up. Configuring a Turtle Beach Flight Deck which is turning out to be a fantastic joystick/throttle combo for Star Citizen and had GSAF toggle as a separate keybinding. I just added the PIP ones you mentioned to it. Nice.
Nice setup you got there. Its like a real life MFD.
Holy shit Buzzcut, you never cease to amaze me with your videos. You are the exact kind of youtuber this game needs!
I could write an essay on why you are the best SC youtuber, keep doing you❤
You flatter me. I don't need an essay, but maybe one day if it happens i'd like to see it :D
NOTE you have to be in SCM mode for this, for you newbies out there. And this is the kind of information I like to find. Don't need an hour long commentary. Succinct, to the point, clear instructions and done!
Thanks! I'm gonna begin work on a few more short ones Monday. People been asking for some specific stuff.
Neat trick! I had 4 keybinds on ALT combos for these, and this made it so much clearer. Also expanding your example to my ESP and decoupled keybinds as well. Subscribed too!
Thanks! Cig really sbould make this something you can keep disabled as opposed to a keybind. Should do that for a lot of things actually.
thanks a lot, I didn't know the pips disappear as I haven't played SC for the last couple months. keep up the good work.
I know right? It is SO WEIRD that they fade!
@@BuzzCutPsycho makes you wonder wth are CIG thinking.
They aren't. They think so many options is good but it is just bloat that leads to a bigger barrier of entry. Total nonsense.
Man. This is just brilliant. Amazing. THANKS!!!!!!
You're very welcome!
Thanks for doing these kinds of vids! Very helpful!
Glad you like them! I like the short form because I don't think much more is needed.
you where the first youtuber I saw when I first started playing in December I think it was your keybinds have been my gotto every time. Great voice always clear in what to do and what things do. A big thank you for your uploads o7
Wow, thanks. This means a lot to me. Always a nice ego boost when people tell me I have a great voice too. ;)
Great to the point video. Nice audio quality as well.
Thanks! I been working on audio a bit more.
Love it. After the 3.23 update I struggled to see the PIP. This greatly helps and I really don't understand why CIG doesn't make this default or give us a gameplay option to have this as default instead of hiding it in the control menu.
I dont know either but it annoys me that players have to deal with this
Thank you SO much! Combat was frustrating the hell outta me precisely because of this. You good sir are a saint. Liked and subscribed.
Thanks for the sub! I like to try and make this game better for as many people as possible. Was actually the inspiration behind the channel. Seeing comments like these are why I do it.
Well, that was incredibly helpful and straight to the point. Got my sub :)
Thanks. I like to keep it short here. :)
I had the pip settings but never noticed UI magnification. Holy crap what a difference. Adding that to my 'power on and fix my ship' toggle for gsafe off/lag pip/faster landing gear. Thank you!
You're welcome! Good idea on the landing gear too.
What's the faster landing gear toggle?
@@Spelljammer1 flight movement - auto precision mode. Disabling removes the speed limit for landing gear.
@@ritorix9458 oh I see what you meant, I thought somehow the gear comes down faster
Good work man 👏👏👏
Thank you🍻
No problem 👍
This video ended up on my "watch later" list. This is the highest honor that can be given on a company laptop.
Well be careful I wouldn't want you to get in trouble for watching youtube on a company asset. ;)
Nailed it again. Thanks and please keep up your good work. ❤
Thank you! Will do! I am working on some others between work.
There is also a key in the flight movement section called Toggle Precision Mode, this disables the 30 m/s speed limiter when the landing gear is down.
Good find with the G-Safe, super helpful video as I had G-Safe previously set off before the update, so I am highly annoyed right now that I missed the fact that for the past week or so I been playing with G-Safe on all this time. I am annoyed that I oversaw this fact, and that the update changed the menu area for it.
Thanks for the info! I didn't know that one. I'll check it out and see how it works. I am hardly in PU so landing gear isn't something that bugs me lately.
Good video, thank you. Losing sight of pips has become a real issue with 3.23
You're welcome. Ton of garbage on the UI lately too.
Wow, It never occurred to me that I could put theae settings on the same keybind, here I was using period, the number 8 and front slash for these settings and hitting them individually before. Thanks again for the straight to the point video.
You are welcome. I want everyone to have a chance.
Plz I need more of this kind of vids, the settings and key bindings are too much and frustrating in SC.
Soon as new ones come i make them
No bullcrappery, just straight to the point. Amazing.
Who has time for BS nowadays?
Holy shit. I would never have found this out if you hadn't made a video about this! This is awesome!
I'm guessing they're unbound by default because they intend these to be options in the new MFD rework in 4.0. Either way, they need to actually tell people about this.
That's what I'm here for brother
this is very handy, thanks man will be changing mine to this
Please do. You'll love it.
Absolutely crucial video, that this isn't default is mind boggling.
It should be default and all it does is hurt new players by not being default.
thank you very much for this short and precise explanation
Glad it was helpful!
quick, to the point and VERY helpful. subbed
Thanks for the sub! More videos coming. prob precision mode next
Awesome, thank you! MORE COMING!!!!!

Good idea binding them all to the same key!
I think so too!
Thanks man. Missed this option completely.
Also love how short, straighforward, informative right to the pount you are. Tired of other channels where you listen 5 minutes how happy he is we watch it, thanking patreons, than 5 minutes of BS about sponsor followed by 10 minutes of general crap to tell us go to option and change 4 options. I already started blocking channels wasting my time. Love your channel.
No problem 👍 I don't do any of that other crap channels do. This isn't my job it is a hobby. I keep videos only as long as they need to be. No bloat.

This is awesome information. Thanks for sharing.
Glad it was helpful!
GreekBoy sent me here. Bless you for this.
Love my Greeks.
Zomg i missed this, i just figgured targeting and pips were bugged, this will be a great addition
Nope not bugged just poorly done by default
I feel like half of Star Citizens keybind options could just be toggles in the game settings instead. I don't get CIGs weird obession with moving everything to keybinds and then not even binding them by default. Thank you, this helps alot, very much appreciated.
They used to be settings lol
What a rad video. Thank you.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Brilliant. Thank you!
You're very welcome!
Thanks for the vid! Great joB!
Glad you liked it!
Best tip of 3.23 until now :) thanks
Glad you think so!
I think a couple of these offer a default setting in Option/Game Settings. Already found my preferences.
It is amazing what you find and learn, when you go into the keybinds and experiment with them. So many still don't know Y exits any seat.
Now, about those weapon presets. Haven't figured out what they do yet.
And can't seem to see an obvious difference in the pitch ladder. I recall one before, some time ago.
There are way too many keybinds and settings in this game and I think it is very off putting to the average new player. A lot of this stuff is hidden too.
@@BuzzCutPsycho I agree. But it is a game many of us want, with as many options and controls we can get.
The only way to overcome and become proficient, is to step out ones comfort zone and try. The more one knows, the better one is.
Now can we have the option to switch to Nav Mode and not automatically be in Qtm.
I did find a way to make this work that way with Game glass and my Virpil buttons.
Super helpful Thank you so much
Glad it was helpful!
Good shit. Subbed.
Based ty
your channel is the best!
You're the best!
Fantastic. Thanks you!!!!
You're welcome !!!!!
Very Nice. Many Thanks!
Thank you too!
I've got an extra tip. I got really annoyed at the precision flight mode limiting speed to 30 when landing gears are down, so I set it to turn it of when ever I press n, the same key as landing pad. you will instinctually close landing gears when taking off anyways so by setting all the ships "ready up" buttons on N or R it is way easier and smoother
Great tip. I will look into that one as well.
We don't deserve the quality of content you produce, thanks for sharing your knowledge to us KB+M srubs
One day us MKB scrubs will rise up

Glad you think so! This stuff needs to be visible.
With all these keybinds, settings really need a search feature.
Needs less binds honestly

Your videos make me wish I could hit the like button 10 times
Awe. I appreciate just the one. :)
Good stuff but the wonders of SC got them out of sync somehow. Took them off toggle to a off / on setup and it works perfect. Just remember G safe is the opposite for the on/off cycle.
That's so weird. I'll check mine too.

Another straight to the point guide this helps A LOT for me to prep to go back to space combat
Now I just need to wait for your percision targeting guide so I can bring my fat redeemer back out again😂
Hopefully they buff your redeemer too, it needs it.
@@BuzzCutPsycho im already used to fly it like a space turtle but if they can buff the avionics ill be extra happy sure, even if it means sizing down the shields to 3 size 2 or smth idk
I think it will lose some shields gens, most will, they are rebalancing all the shields again. But honestly it will be in a better place once they gold standard it.
@@BuzzCutPsycho wait the redeemer is not gold standard?! I thought it was coz all the components are there 😂
If so hope they make it like 3or4 size 2 shield and fly slightly more sluggish than a MIS ill be super happy
@@terriorx I bet it will perform better at the cost of shields if I had to guess based on hints from cig.
OMG you are a monster of tips! hahaha
I try!!!!
Why are they making unbound toggle keybinds for everything that should be a menu setting?
No clue. And I'm gonna make feedback about it.
Thank you very much. I am missing a "GSAFE off by default" option and have set a button for that, but for some reason I sometimes find it to be on again...this forces you to keep an eye on it all the time. When couple with other functions, might this lead to a mixed up state?
Also, why the UI gunnery magnification toggle? What does it do? I assume it means the zoom?
Makes the pip bigger. And they remove gsafe off as a setting. Gotta toggle it every time. So silly.
What is GSAFE and why is always off a good thing, or always on a bad thing? Is it a safety governor or limiter to keep your ship from maneuvering in ways that would induce loss of consciousness? Just curious - thanks!
It is intended to prevent you from pulling so many Gs you pass out. In order to do that it limits your performance. You're much better off managing your Gs without sacrificing performance.
thanks for super tip
Welcome 😊
