Excel Date Format Won't Change | I Can't Change Excel Date Format!

In this video I explore a problem with dates and times, where Excel will not allow you to change the date/time format. This problem is caused by the dates and times being entered as text values.
The solution is to use Text to Columns to convert the dates and times to numeric values. You will then be able to apply date and time formats in the normal way.

Thank you, this saved me a lot of time manually correcting dates that would not convert into numbers or work on formulas as they were recognised as text with a time at the end after the date. The text to columns option as delimited file and separator as space allowed me to separate the time from the date and next choose the right date format option for the problematic dates. Thanks again.

HUGE help! So relieved to get that format changed to a date, thank you! Although, know when I take that newly formatted data and try to plot it on a graph it plots it as a number up to 5000??? How do I put it into a graph now that it's formatted as a date????
