My EL has returned 10L/100km on a 400km country round trip, but around town where I live it has been dropping to 17L/100km according to the trip computer
Just got 520 out of a full tank 150km of town and rest was long country drive flat and hills still haven't filled up yet fuel lights just on had 5 people too so not to bad was 51 liters car also has 300.000ks headers and exhausts
Hey m8 would you know how much fuel it will take filling it up to the very top of the neck and i can get 200 ks to ever square of petroleum in my ef ford Fairmont 1996 model
I would say no. But you can’t actually use every drop of fuel in the tank there will always be a litre or three still left even once the car stops and I can’t see the point of filling it up that much. I usually just fill it up till it clicks off and that’s it.
@@MikesManCave oh yea and fairo I fill it up that much so I am getting the most out of my fuel you will be surprised in how much more ks you will get to a tank of fuel I get 800ks to a full tank of petrol in my ef ford Fairmont 1996 model and its stock apart from no longer auto but I got the same amount of distance to a tank of petrol when it was auto and its has extractors on it aswell and 2 1'4 inch sports exhaust on her
My EF was getting higher than that. I think it was around 14l per 100km. I ended up selling it to buy a Hyundai Accent for $500 instead, which gets 6-7l per 100km on the same trip to and from work. Oddly enough my 1998 EL XR8 tickford gets better economy than my EF 6 cyl was getting, although I use 98 only in it so I'm sure that's helping.
98 is DEFINITELY helping. In 1966, the NRMA recommended that motorists increase their octane to 100 with additives, for engines of 8.5:1 compression and above. I have since used Super/98 in ALL my cars (these had compression rations over 8.5:1). The EL compression ratios are all on or over 9.0:1, therefore with 98 your knock sensor will let the ECU advance the timing to the max without knocking. You are also covered if the knock sensor plays up.
I certainly don’t race it. I drove it from mid north coast nsw to Qld yesterday and averaged 9.2 litres per 100km on the highway. Two adults and luggage in the car just cruising on the speed limit in economy setting.
@@WilliamVandervleut Its a 23 year old car that wights 1.7 tonnes with a 4 litre motor what do you expect? If you want economy don't buy a full sized family sedan.
Comparing a VF dunnydore from rip motors to a EL Falcon is funny..... Like when Holden compared the LS23547. 3747 V8 to old 5 ltr. Holden people are so funny... RIP HOLDEN
@@roryalgate872 haha your defending a 30year old shitbox with a severaly outdated engine that blew head gaskets every 2 months. They were good 30years but times have changed and these are garbage now. Im in no way a "Holden" person, Aussie built cars are better extinct.
Over and over I'm getting 6 1/2 km per litre around town. Bullshit really. But it seems that's par for the course. Engine has only 160k and full service history.
Im a pretty low intensity driver these days because I live very close to the CBD and I just don't see the point in putting your foot down with traffic and speed cameras everywhere. There's a time and a place for shenanigans, on the school run ain't it. I expected better but that seems about right from what others are saying.
I guess it really depends on your perception. It’s one of the most economical cars I have ever owned. And definitely the most economical car I currently own.
Best solution is drive without A/C sure you’ll sweat get over it take the seats out all you need is the two front ones now it’s a two seater don’t like it piss off goons
Nice video... I'm on lpg with my BA and average around 14l/100km combined.... 20% extra with LPG. So good economy from the old EL
Wow my old EL is going great then.
My EL has returned 10L/100km on a 400km country round trip, but around town where I live it has been dropping to 17L/100km according to the trip computer
Mine does not have a trip computer, if you stab the accelerator you burn a lot more fuel.
EFII 160k always serviced. Getting 6.5km per litre round town. Done numerous tanks and it never varies much.

That’s a great effort. Thanks for the comment 👍👍😎😎
My ef fairmont got 14.5 driving around melbourne ..
My misses vr commodore got 14 in the same conditions
Thanks for the feed back.
Cruise control helps lower it as it can meter throttle inputs much more precisely than a person.
Unfortunately my car is a base model with no such luxuries. 😎
It was an option on the base model. My dad drove an EF Falcon GLi cab and it had it.
94500kms on the ODO 😮
Yep, not many left with that low mileage. Got it for the right price too.
Hey m8 would you know how much fuel it will take filling it up to the very top of the neck and i can get 200 ks to ever square of petroleum in my ef ford Fairmont 1996 model
According to Ford it had a 68 litre fuel capacity.
@@MikesManCave is that including the neck aswell becaue I always fill it up to the brim so you can't put anymore in it at all

Very nice, that’s pretty good economy. Cool to have a manual Fairmont. 👍
thanks man really helpful!!!!!!!!!! gonnna get this car NoW whoop whoop yyeeeehhaaw
Enjoy, not sure all cars of the same model perform the same way, but these are great cars I absolutely love driving it.
My AU Ghia VCT sits on nothing less than 16litres per 100. Your doing well
They do vary a bit don't they, thanks for the comment.
Must have a hole in the fuel tank
My AU vct with modified cam returns 7.1 lt per 100 highway cruising
That’s excellent economy for a big car. 👍

There are plenty of cars more economical. Driving style, fuel type and road conditions also have an impact.

Mine did 730 to a tank on highway on E10 1995 model Ef automatic. No modifications. Gatton to north Rockhampton
Thats Raymond Terrace
So it is.
Michael you must have been driving it in Angel gear! Either that or you have a really light foot!
I certainly don’t race it. I drove it from mid north coast nsw to Qld yesterday and averaged 9.2 litres per 100km on the highway. Two adults and luggage in the car just cruising on the speed limit in economy setting.
Well i thought you were going to use the Eco button?
That could be another video I guess👍👍
Around town im getting 11.8 lt per 100km modified cam .AU vct .
Stats pretty good as wall 👍
These were thirst af, 11L/100kms sounds good but for country driving thats really bad. My old VF SV6 Wagon used to get 11 city driving.
Your definition of thirst for a 20 year old car must be very different to mine.
@@MikesManCave these use like 16-17L/100kms city driving. Thats terrible

then there's my EF doing 16L/100km
That seems thirsty.
Lol I think I got 14l/100km on the first fill of my wagon last week
Amazing the different results people get.
Mines about the same city driving. 6.5km per litre. EFII 160k always serviced in excellent cond so seems par for the course.
FG XR6?
No EL GLI.

Fuel consumption can be greatly affected by the way you drive, traffic conditions, traffic flow and even how the car was run in when new.

I really love this car but it's very heavy on fuel I've never used more than 7L/100km just imagine 11L/100km it's too much
I guess it really depends on your perception. It’s one of the most economical cars I have ever owned. And definitely the most economical car I currently own.
My Maxima is 13L/100km
Most full sized cars use between 10-16 litres it’s perfectly normal.
XB coupe review please
Check my other videos. Not much has changed since the last coupe video. But I will finish it one day. 😬
Mike's Man Cave, I’ll be subscribed. Can’t wait till you make a vid on it. Keep up the content. Thanks 👍
yeah keen for that tooooo
I used to have an AU falcon on dual fuel. It got about 14L/100 on petrol and 18L/100 on LPG lol
Great old cars these things. I still drive mine nearly every day. 👍👍

It all adds up I guess. At 40 degrees C I will run my AC though no matter what.
