There's this Pantera tribute band that sounds just like them. The singer and guitar player both sing and they both sound like Phil. Sound wasn't an issue because it was at *The House of Blues*. It sounded like being inside the speakers

if you haven't seen it yet, Dimebag's entire Randall clinic where he gives up every secret asked and unasked is on YT somewhere; if you find the video that's around an hour, that's the one. ;-)

MetallicA changed my life back in 1991, November 14th, at the Maple Leaf Gardens. When James walked out, and started the riff for Enter Sandman, the crowd of thousands erupted, and it was the craziest thing I'd ever seen. I thought to myself, THAT! That is what I wanna do! That moment made me decide to learn guitar, and I've since been on stage, and had the crowd go crazy from an opening riff, and it was everything I hoped it would be, and I can't get enough of it. James made me the musician I am today, and I'm forever grateful❤ MetallicA is the best!

There's a video from the following night on the 15th, and it's an identical show, and the opening view is EXACTLY what I saw. th-cam.com/video/Z8qnK3EIoGk/w-d-xo.htmlsi=uLnsncvyoJjBefYz

@@greenerdays God, how lucky is that especially to see the same exact show you were at! My first ever concert was 1989 And Justice tour and then it musta been 1991-92 for the Black album in Lacrosse, WI. Then they blew up and never came back to my lil town. But I went to this Minneapolis show on Friday the 16th and I fuckin lucked out cuz the morning I was gonna leave my ma said she won two tickets to the Sunday show so I went to both shows that weekend! 🤘🏼 ✌🏼

I seen them with GNR at the CNE in Toronto they blew GNR off the stage , good old Maple Leaf Gardens seen many of shows there AC/DC For Those About to Rock , many Iron Maiden gigs, and prob one the loudest gigs was Van Halen Hide your Sheep Tour supporting Diver Down at Maple Leaf Gardens, the Gardens was a magical place for gigs, I miss it , I been to ACC its greats but something about the old Gardens the horse troughs in the men's washroom now Ryerson owns it , there's a Loblaws there also

Hey Mike, night one I was able to be by James’s guitar tech, Chad, which was sweet to see all his guitars and surreal to see James nearly 5 feet away from me, I even tried to deflate a ball at the end but some lady took it from me. Second night I won pit tickets and it was even more surreal to “ride the stage” and see the band so clearly, I even saw you after the show and was surprised you recognized me from the Megadeth show, great video and here’s hoping Metallica returns!

Ha Mike. What’s up. This is your farmer bass player From your very first band back in ninth grade. Remember breaking my string on my bass guitar that I bought at JC Penney’s. In their catalog long time, no see or hear just found your channel here , I went to both Metallica shows too. brings back old memories. I remember walking back home from junior high to your place with Allen. Thinking of a name for your first band. Love what you are doing. Keep it up. See u at the 30 year class reunion?

Hello fellow amputee... i first saw Metallica live back in 1991, but the first show i saw as an amputee (also leg- BKA) was the Metallica 40th anniversary shows. it was a very cathartic experience. They have been a massive part of my journey as an amputee.
i have seen them 12 times on this tour so far (three times in GA, once on the rail and once in the snake pit). The shows have been absolutely amazing. The best part about it is the community you build, and the friends you make.
Say hi to your leg for me. Be well...

I was fortunate to have seen Metallica play The Variety Movie Theater Feb 2 1985. A small venue that was built in early 1900s definitely not for loud metal, they were so loud ceiling tiles and art on the walls were falling. I will never forget bc I met Cliff.

hell yeah man i was there too. i was right above where the band came in and out right infront, eye level to James’s first mic if that makes sense. i couldn’t believe the little interactions i had with the band man, while i was there and thinkin back it still feels so surreal as James is a huge inspiration etc etc to me man.

I love too,how the Load-era songs resonate better over time with people, having their live airings over time giving new leases of life, and separating those songs from the album and any perceptions of the band from that time. Fuel, Outlaw Torn, Hero of the Day, etc. Classic, brooding melodic Iommi enfused heavy rock. The Load-era songs are amazing live, and I think 72S has songs that will set in better over time too.🤘👍

Sounds like a great time. I learned a long time ago that being on the floor and close to the band sends most of the sound over your head.
Opening acts always only get 25%-50% of the light and sound reinforcement, which really has to suck when it's a band like Pantera.

I was there! Bucket list concert for sure. I wasn't far from the rail on the south side of GA, just in front of where the main mosh pit was. I was about 20ft away from Tre Cool and what appeared to be the rest of Green Day on Day 1. Lars yeeted a drumstick at him and he somehow caught it. The sound was excellent because there were line array speakers pointing right at me. Only bad part about the experience was I got COVID from attending the concert for the first time ever. Shoulda worn a K95 mask.

I saw Metallica last year in Phoenix at State Farm Stadium. It was my 11th time seeing them. I go way back. First time I saw them was in 1983 at the Metro in Chicago. The last time I saw them was in 2021 at the Metro at the pop up show in Chicago before I moved out to the Phoenix Valley. Then I saw them last year in September. Lots of nostalgia and yeah that feeling of" well this may be the last time they tour..." Mammoth WVH was good. I hope they come back and play at a smaller place. The Pantera tribute was good. Again I saw the real deal in the 90's. It took me back. Metallica well they were fire that night. Great show.

I saw them once. "And Justice for All" tour, Thomas and Mack Center in L,V, ,
Faith No More opened for them
As they were winding down, the lights were shutting down on stage until it was just the guitarist with one spot light on him , the rest of the stage was black, {they probably put up curtains). He played for several minutes with the volume getting lower.
Then we hear another guitar join in (where is that coming from?)
The two guitars are jamming together with the volume going up again and changing the style (still only one spotlight), then the spotlight is only on the new guitar player... Kirk
Then the whole stage is lit up ( it had been changed to the "And Justice for All" stage) and then they continued to Kick Ass for 2 hours straight.

Now that the M72 tour has been and gone in Seattle I've finally been able settle in and watch your review. Really cool to see the view from inside the snake pit. One of the coolest things at night one here was seeing the Seattle Seahawks drum line, Blue Thunder, join Pantera on stage during Walk. It was super cool! Also, the giant balls were quite a surprise. I love this entire video so much! I'll bet this took a TON of work.
It honestly made me so happy to see you witness Metallica play live again, with your longtime friends/ bandmates and your nephew as well, I bet it was an utterly incredible and unforgettable night for him. Ecstasy of Gold always gives me chills too.
I hope you all had the best time. So nice of you to give the pick you caught from Kirk to your nephew, picks are such a great thing to have as a show memento.
I know for sure that the experience of the build up to both nights, and the performances themselves will live in your hearts and minds forever. I only wish I could've been there to experience it with you all 😊.
That slow bend part in Orion is just 👌🏻. Sad But True is so energetic and energising. I knew Blackened is your favourite, super happy they played it.
I've been seeing lots of photos and video clips of both shows from other attendees this past week, it gives me goosebumps while watching.
Fingers crossed Metallica will come back to the UK soon, they are THE ONE band I simply have and desperately want to see live. It'll be the first time for me when it happens, so I'm living in hope for the announcement of some UK concert dates, I hope I can get as close to the stage as you did, at least pick catching distance hehe.

I also noticed when leaving the snake pit that the audio was a lot better. Also be glad you weren’t at the MA show, we went to the second night and it took 2hrs to get from the parking lot to the highway. We were guests of the artist so we didn’t have to pay for tickets, but if anyone is debating between GA and snake pit I would personally go GA or very low level seating, unless you don’t mind spending the extra money.

i was in the snake pit at the second Seattle show, and the sound was great for me (i was right in the center between drums 3 and 4). i also wear those earplugs that filter out certain frequencies but still makes things clear, so that could be why. i love that when you're up close you can actually hear the acoustics of the instruments, versus what being put out via the sound system. Rob's bass is powerful!
i don't even think the sound was bad here, but personally thought the sound was better in the snake pit in Seattle than GA (i was in GA/rail for both Foxborough shows). i was on the ADA platform for the first Seattle show (i forgot my prosthetic, so i decided to go on the platform), and it sounded great as well. it was like being in a larger club, still pretty intimate.
The first leg of M72 i had seats, and the sound was great for me as well. i think it's because of every show, i've been pretty close to the towers, so there was no sound bouncing at all for me.
i have also been in the snake pit prior to M72, and i feel like the pit on this tour is a bit easier to get around (since it is significantly larger than past snake pits). People tend to be a lot more chill in the snake pit, versus GA... where people ARE generally nice as well, but don't really care if you're disabled, a child, etc. when it comes to getting those picks!
Seeing Metallica every time is like one big family reunion. i've made some great friends in this community.

I fell out with metallica from being a mega fan in the 80s to even dropping on them when the black album came out but you're video was interesting just to see what's going on with them these days.

I was there for the 2nd night only. I won seats in section 216 from a radio station, KJ108, in Grand Forks, ND. Then I registered to win Snake Pit or Meet and Greets on Metallica's website through the 5th Member fanclub. I won the Snake Pit passes too!!!! What an awesome show/experience! I actually saw myself for about 2 seconds when you were talking about 5 Fingers Ivan Moody. I took my 20yo daughter, it was her 2nd Metallica concert. We also hit up the Green Day show the night before...had I known Pantera was at 1st Ave. I would've probably went to that show, although I did catch the original Pantera lineup in 92 in Fargo. Anyway, great breakdown! I wish we couldve caught night 1.

I saw Metallica back in 96’/97’ and they played an acoustic set right in the middle of the show. One of the songs they played in that set was “The Four Horseman” which blew my mind. Listening to you talk about how long it took you to leave made me chuckle bc when I left that show it took over 3 1/2 hours just to leave the parking area and get on the road. It was totally worth it!

Absolute Spot On, about songs taking on new leasings of life later on from the initial listens. Something else later in life, some distance from the song inbetween, and suddenly , Bang! The song sounds new, relateable, it has something new to say. 🤘

We also went both nights, my 2 brothers and I. We flew all the way from Montana! It was such a great show. Especially because we don't even have a venue in our entire state that could house 70k people a night😅 . I was so impressed with metallica. Definitely was most excited for Pantera but all the openers were good (Andy James is one of my favorite guitarists pre-FFDP so it was awesome to see him and his success) the first night we were right on where the 50 yard line would be 3rd level and Honestly it wasn't bad! That stadium is so well designed that there really isn't a bad seat anywhere. On the 2nd night, we got the idea to look at floor tickets. Low and Behold, we got 3 floor tickets for $100 each day of and then sold our others! Being on the floor was WILD! You are right, Mike. GA was the best spot. Honestly, I'd give the show a solid 9/10!

I was there for Sunday night - a week before my brother and I decided out of the blue to take my nephew to see Metallica. I have seen them 8 times - first time was opening for Ozzy on the Puppets tour. We drove 7 hours from Kansas on Sunday and then 7 hours back on Monday. Loved every damn minute. Metallica is my band - forever and alway - and connecting with fellow fans was the best. 'Tallica forever. Thank you for giving us a touchstone.

I know the stadium manager at Cardinals Stadium in AZ. Dude hooked me up with 4 free tickets and a parking pass. Thanks, Eric! I took my adult kids. My daughter used to sing Enter Sandman when she was about 4 years old. She went nuts when they started playing this. My first Metallica show was Master of Puppets tour when they opened for Ozzy and yes, I got to see the mighty Cliff Burton. Benefits of being an old metal-head. 😂

DUDE. Glad you mentioned it. The last bit of the blackened solo is my favourite Metallica studio moment ever! These guys haven’t played that part since 1990. If I could ever ask the band one question, it would be why that part was cut.

I bought my tickets about 2 years ago as well. Thought it was for one night. I was surprised to see they were for both days. So I took both my sons, and it was both of theirs first concert. I’m in Seattle and they wrapped that up last night. I loved the show and all opening acts. It did feel laggy in the middle (setlist) on both nights. Great mix of all albums- sans saint anger. 😂

Coming from a kid who got into guitar and Metallica only like 2 years ago, it was an absolute dream to take my dad to this show with me. Seeing Metallica was on his bucket list, he just never got the chance and he also never got really into them, was just a huge fan of the black album. Although he didn't know a lot of the songs, both of us had a great time, and it was essentially my first concert experience. Hoping this isn't the last Metallica show I get to go to.

This tour was a disaster for Metallica. Multiple audio engineers have reached out to Metallica about the bad sound quality. Hopefully they iron that out for next tour. Overall a bad sound design.
Glad we met Vinnie and dime on December 7th. The lack of energy for Pantera now is painful to watch.

This Snakepit experience is awesome but opposite from mine. I sat in the Snakepit for 7 hours, leaving only once. Held my spot at the edge stage the whole time. James did the breakdown of puppets pretty much above me, lars high fived me, I got one of James' picks. Rob started his crowd surf right next to me. Awesome experience. (7 hours both nights, i felt it after)

Nice to hear you talk about the concert, as I was at some, but haven’t been able to go since death magnetic. I always used to meet Lars since I met them on the st. Anger tour, where I persuaded him to let me do an official remix for it. I actually ended up with the studio recorded tracks from the band and made a remix. The only one done from the original studio tracks. Sadly it took me some time and although the band apparently loved it the management had decided not to promote the album anymore due to all the criticism that took place. But I got the permission to put it on TH-cam.

I was at both of those Minneapolis shows, too! I really wish I would have come over and said hi to you. We won upgrades for the snake pit for the Sunday show and I saw you there. I may or may not have had a few too many adult beverages that night so I wasn't completely sure in the moment if it was you or not. It clearly was, LOL. I got lucky and scored 3 Metallica picks on the last night. This was my 9th and 10th time seeing Metallica and I agree, I made every effort to soak in the moment because who knows how long the band will continue.

The bands all came onstage from the same way you entered the snake pit. I had GA tickets and the first night I ended up coming in while mammoth was playing unfortunately, but the next night I got the corner of the barricades right where everyone came onstage. I was headbanging like hell the whole time since I couldn't mosh without losing my spot. it was super sick-- I got to fistbump the guitarists from Ice Nine Kills and FFDP, and Lars waved at me when he went back onstage after he switched drumsets. Rob Trujillo also leaned into the audience while playing right behind me at the beginning of their set. There were little curtained off rooms under the stage where the members of Metallica went to get water between songs, and Kirk Hammet came out of the one right in front of me when the show started. I caught some guitar picks at the end. truly one of the best nights of my life.
edit: wrote the comment before you said where they came onstage lmao-- also, no mention of Rob's killer Ozzy impression???
