Any one on the grind keep listening to podcast as such and information on well being. Last year this time I was 365 I dropped 100 lbs in 7months and am now down 120 lbs building muscle planning on doing my first marathon skipping 5 and 10k since I run those with no problem at all. Forget about supplements forget about diets focus first on habit changing and discipline and this is done through mindset 100% I am living proof of this.
I woke up in the early hours this morning, feeling weak, anxious, and defeated... Then this episode of the podcast magically appeared in my feed, like an answer to my prayers. Thank you so much for all you do, Rich, and for all these terrific, inspiring guests!
@@DP-sh3nk oh no, another totally useless pointless comment. I hope Russia is NOT trying to KILL those 1 million muslims in south-ukraine. another cover up of killing muslims like Palestine or Syria or Irak Or Afghanistan or Somalia or other TOTALLY INNOCENT peoples. feel sorry for u
"The mind will always quit before the body." this quote really puts into perspective how running can make you a savage. Learning to push through the absolute mental struggle you have with yourself to finish a race or training session really boils into life. Once you've learned to run and be in the zone, your life will become immensely easier. Like Jocko says, "Discipline equals freedom", once you have that mental toughness, you'll be able to conquer so many things you always struggled with.
I just want you to know, stranger, that this comment struck me profoundly, I S/S’d it and will make a point to listen many more times just to confirm who’s quote it is. But mostly, it’s everything else you wrote here that makes me sit up a little straighter. I’m going to print the screenshot, and put it on my mirror. The only other time I did that, was 15+ years ago & it was a portion of a LKLive transcript, it was Mic Jagger sharing how he pep-talked to himself before going on stage something about a cliff-note perspective of things and he would tell himself “… get out there and just kill it/crush it”. And it changed my life, having that paper on the mirror for 6 or so months. …your comment here is very likely to change my life too. Nothing like leveling up as a SWF cruises towards her 50th bday. IOU.
I need this today. Thank you Rich. I know I am not someone else's negativity, but holy moly, it's exhausting to be around!! And while I can't remove myself from the daily exposure, I CAN change MY mindset so I'm not feeling like a prisoner, yet instead I WILLL be the positive and joyful person that I really am! You and your guests remind me that I need to continue my positive actions and my positive & healthy mood will follow, right?!
I am so appreciative for this podcast. I have struggled since a child to overcome poverty, subsequent bad choices and insecurities. I'm thankful I don't have addictive behaviors like most of my family members otherwise my life would be so much worse. But life is hard, especially when you are raised to fail. So podcasters like you, Rich Roll, are one of my top favorite podcasters because of your ability to drill down and facilitate deep topics in such an approachable and relatable way. Your podcasts have helped me understand this life, myself, others and how I can use my mindset to improve my attitude, goals and perception on what I'm going through.
I can’t believe it took me so long to discover Rich! Through his conversations I’ve been able to completely change the way I live my life. Everything from eating, breathing, sleeping and of course shifting my mindset! Thank you for bringing the light back into my life!
It's great to see such a broad array of people offering their take. People often have this one dimensional outlook on 'mental toughness' that it's reserved for the Navy Seal Goggins type but it's really something a lot more complex than the alpha army bro.
I needed this today, Rich. It's a framework from brilliant people who truly want all of us to get what they've got. It's a recipe for peace, serenity and anything else that is important in life!
Definitely added the fuel I am looking for to help me transform to a greater level of possibility! Humble thanks to everyone, as well as the breadth and depth of this program. 🙏🏻
Rich, I avoided watching this full episode for a month because I had already seen those interviews. Needing motivation to get out the door for a run (jog at this point), David Goggins was exactly what I needed. THEN, I realized I needed to hear everything in this "best-of" podcast not once, but again, and perhaps again. Thank you!
This is super inspiring to listen to. Have chronic pain in my lower limbs for 5 whole years & so over it I spent $3000 on Acupuncture whilst daily stretching& massaging. This is week 4 of my 8 weeks of daily therapy. It will be awesome to get back into weight training again without the tiredness & associated pain. I’m gonna make it happen!!!
Exactly! I’m a psychologist and it doesn’t have to be complicated at all! Embracing your pain cave/suffering is cleansing and likely explains why so many people love endurance sports!👍
Thanks for this Rich. The timing is perfect. I am getting ready to start a career change and this has given me such food for thought around my mindset as I move forward in a different direction.
Rich just wanted to thank you and your amazing guests for sharing all these ways to become aware of and ultimately change our mindset, to help all of us create a life well lived. Ive honestly been struggling a lot right now, staying up way too late, not having the energy to wakeup early, and doing a lot of soul searching (recently lost a job as well). So thank you for putting together this compilation, it really means a lot!
This was obviously a love offering to help others and how amazingly timely it was and is for me. This video will help countless people unknowingly stuck in the prison of their minds/thinking and find new depth purpose and meaning. Finding a life more fully expressed. I will be sending this to everybody i know. I hope it will inspire them as it has me. Thank you Rich Roll you freakin rock man!!!
Great deep dive. Would like to hear diamandes' take on a hoarding and greed mindset and how to get the current hegemony of power gluttons to unclench their bloodless heartles fingers from the throat of the world. Wealth is not inherently admirable. Is longevity just another kind of greed?
Hello Rich. I have been listening watching and recommending your TH-cam channel and podcasts to everyone I know for years now. This one is amazing with the exception of Goggins cursing which makes him sound not only angry but unfortunately also arrogant. It just hurts my ears and is so unnecessary. Thank you for always putting out the best content. You are very much appreciated and loved by me and I am sure by millions of others. Thank you!!
I am so happy that I can relate way more with Rivs than David Goggins. Never in my life would I start a conversation with someone like him, no f*ing matter what f*ing wisdom he might have to share.
I'm weary of the "wisdom" of anyone who decides their best path in life is to go fight and kill for the financial benefit of the country's biggest, most anti-human corporations
Most of this breathing philosophy comes from Hinduism and the scriptures: rooted in science. Many neuroscientists particularly genx and prior studied eastern philosophies/way of life and then studied them and put them into practice... so glad you bros are catching up .. love me some modern day sages!
There is so much useful and valuable information in this Masterclass on Mindset. I will be watching this many times over...lots to ponder and think about. Interesting questions at the end that has me contemplating reinventing my life and my purpose as well. I can't thank you enough Rich for putting this together and sharing it with us. Please continue to share these valuable perspectives with us!
Courtney is so unassuming. I saw the JR episode she was on and when he asked her about nutrition during her ultramarathons she basically just said “beer and quesadillas”. Unreal! I made my sprint triathlon way more complicated than it needed to be!
Truly amazing compilation, so inspiring, only a shame that you get interrupted with an ad every few minutes. Never saw an ad that interrupted me where I thought"oh wow what a nice product, let me buy this"
10:46: While it's true that very fundamentally we cannot not act and take care of ourselves; but through trauma and grief I have learned that I did not want to act in a certain mindset because it would perpetuate it, and it was all about shifting my emotional state, processing my feelings and restructuring my thoughts and perception in order to act from a heart centered approach. It could be that DG is a very left dominated mind and that through feelings and perception is a more feminine approach. However, I wouldn't deny there is a timeline to this amount of processing and introspection before it starts to be degenerative. There is a point when we have learned the new ways of thinking and feeling and then acting on those is important. When they are not there, we have developed the pattern that happiness is real, and if we're not feeling all well, it's not about waiting for a feeling then to act, but doing the thing that helps us get back into a grateful space. In this case, action will precede thought and perception. Our underlying motivation can be based on faith and love though, and not hate, disgust, or any other 'fuel' that is based on "I'm doing because I am in a place of lack". The fuel is now, "I'm doing because I believe in the possibilities of the human spirit" ... The stress of giving birth for example is a force that happens no matter what. But is it stress? Does a plant grow through the ground and say "I'm stressed" There is a balance of opposing force energy; learning to develop the perception of "I'm growing and changing and that is a natural process" vs. "I'm stressed, and I need to move, I need to change before I die"... Death/life is for sure, growing with in and into it is the natural discomfort of life we can strive to be in joyfully :) From one grateful listener~

How does one actually stay positive? It doesn't seem like an emotion we can control. We can feign it for others but we can't lie to ourselves enough for it to feel genuine.
There are lots of positivity tools out there mostly in the form of memes, I find reading them regularly helps remind me of many things I need reminding of. For instance it was mentioned in this video 'You either control your mind, or it will control you' - I have something very similar on my bedroom wall - and the idea is to see it constantly to remind myself to stop the negative chatter. There are great positivity groups on facebook. I feel sorry for people who have never learnt any positivity type tools. I think the media's fear mongering plays a big role in our constant negativity too, you can simply stop giving it your attention, it doesn't deserve it anyway.
