    I've viewed this and the short version several times. It is possible to be brave without being stupid. This man knows his environment and knows how to deal with it. That being said, the old adage "Don't try this at home" applies. I've been close to large predators numerous times, but always with a guide who knew the respective animal's behavior. Or a critter I was comfortable with (sharks, for example). I would never go bushwalking in Africa without an experienced local guide. And I'd be more worried about snakes in a camp than lions.
    Also, I don't drink coffee. 😁

    • @bhejanenaturetraining1018
      @bhejanenaturetraining1018  2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      They have not marked their territory? There is no reason for them to enter the building. They are not hunting or looking for food. The female is just laying close to the building (which she knows makes the male nervous) in an effort to get him to leave her alone. The male is very uncomfortable around the human areas. He does not want to be there to start with nevermind going into the building. He will stay despite his discomfort however to make sure the female does not evade him since he is depserate to mate with her.

      @bhejanenaturetraining1018  2 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      Hi Peace hope you are well. Lions have a natural fear of humans and typically - even if your camp is open- they will try to avoid you. It is definately not good for them to feel very welcome or at home in the camp- that is why we tried to chase them off on this morning as well. But this was quite a rare morning. The female just wanted to discourage the male from following her and this is why she came so close to camp. But on most days they will rather walk around the camp and stay away.

      It is a tracking collar to assist the reserve in monitoring the movement of the lions. It helps the reserve to know when to investigate for instance if the movement seems to be outside of the boundaries of the park or if there is no movement for a long time.

    • @bhejanenaturetraining1018
      @bhejanenaturetraining1018  2 ปีที่แล้ว +36

      Part of what we train guides for is to live and work in such open camps so its an important skill to teach to always have good awareness. Bars and doors and fences can very easily create a false sense of security that in fact puts you in more danger than simply learning to live in harmony with nature and having good awareness of your surroundings.

      She is not particularly interrested in mating with him. So she will keep moving away. The reason she is lying in camp, so close to the building is also an effort to keep him away from her. She is quite comfortable around the camp but he is very nervous near the camp and would not usually come so close to the building.

    Sorry to say this, you can train with doors too, not having doors is putting human lives and these wild animals in danger. These wild animals could stalk and drags 1 of the humans in their sleep, they are smart and study things, and also if these animals attack the humans, I'm sure there is a gun or something for defense and will injured the animal, totally irresponsible. There is a fine line being one with nature and yet dumb.

    • @bhejanenaturetraining1018
      @bhejanenaturetraining1018  2 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      We are also smart. We also study things. There is a fine line (actually its a pretty thick one) between ignorance and education. This is not just about being "one" with nature. This is what we do professionally as do many other nature guides in South Africa. We are not trying to be "one" with anything here. There is exactly no point to training people to live and work in area with wildlife - behind closed doors- that is just plain ignorance. We do appreciate and understand your concern, and off course we agree and understand that in nature anything can happen. We know the risks of what we do. But we are also trained professionals so perphaps give us some benefit there. We have not had to fire a firearm once in over 20 years whilst living and working in such wild environments.

      The lion was only protecting the female. He was not really interrested in Dylan other than warning him to stay away. The building also represents an unknown risk to him.
