The Clippers are getting Russell Westbrook after he got a buyout from the Jazz. John Wall failed for them this year so they hope Russ will answer their point guard problems. He hasn’t worked for any team in years but this is a look at what’s in store for Westbrook now.

But now with the massive fines for going over the luxury tax every team except the Clippers will start operating the same as the NFL. 17 million over the luxury tax will be considered a hard cap for every other team. Also the new arena and facilities will help them bring in more talent. I see them trading Kawhi this winter for Siakam and picks. Siakam, Paul George and Kyrie would be really good. I disagree. It's a minimum contract lol the clippers aren't losing anything or getting worse. The clippers desperately needed a playmaker and someone who could allow their stars to load manage and without Kawhi and PG, the clippers can be that scrappy type of team Westbrook excels on. On top of that, he and PG have good chemistry and the clippers have the shooting and defense to back Russ up. The lakers' mistake was being too top heavy and relying too much on their big 3. WIth the rockets, Russ was good when he was healthy and I believe they just got outmatched that year against the eventual champs. Going to the wizards would've killed Russ's career IMO since he'd be going to a mediocre team and everyone can point to him being a regular season player and a stat padder again.

The most realistic and one of the best outcomes is that Russ plays OK, not great, and hopefully Ty Lue reduces his role quickly enough that it doesn't cause too much damage. Would love to see Russ make a big comeback though

The actual problem with Russ on Lakers was the cap space. he was getting too much money (ofc AD and LBJ also did) to fill the roster. After buyout he is on cheap contract with loaded team.

As a Clips fan I'm sickened. You are correct in that he's a disaster despite his stats. No defense, turnover machine, can't score outside the paint consistently and can't even finish at the rim like he used to.
But I disagree this is a desperation move. This is a case of the front office kowtowing to PG and Morris because they want to play with their buddy. (Apparently they haven't seen the Lakers games )
KD to the Suns doesn't make them a lock. They've lost key defensive role players and are pretty thin now. They'll have to plan on outscoring opponents which is not usually a winning strategy in the playoffs.

Play like Ben Simmons? 😂.. Right now the Nets probably wish Ben would play like Russ. Ben is 26 making over 30 million to come off the bench. He averages 6 points on like 5 shots while shooting 50%. If he was anything like Russ the team would look so much better.

If they waste their talent during this era, the number one reason why isn't the point guard, its the fact that these guys never play. Over the last 4 years, here's a list of games played: Anthony "street clothes" Davis 173, PG13 177, Kawhi 143. You have to play to maximize talent. You can't sit on the bench all year then show up for the playoffs and win. The NBA isn't rec league.

I disagree it's a panic move. It's a complete confidence move. They were fine and believed they were fine (even won both games with the new look) with the rearranging and upgrades they got at the deadline. They believe, foolishly or not, that they can integrate Russ into their insane depth and still be better or the same. They definitely are in win now mode but they still have a great roster for next season. Not a desperation move.

In a way, I feel like the sole purpose the clippers got Westbrook was to defend against KD if they ever play the suns. Whatever bad decision he takes in the game, he still guards KD pretty well. Something that not a lot of guys have done as well as Russ.

Russ bullies CP3 on a regular basis in the playoffs. Only time Chris looked good against him was when Russ was on no big man Rockets. This is his best chance since 2011 he has the deepest team he has ever been on. Now that he can be a pure playmaker and not have to score in the paint as much, he can bring consistent defense again. Ppl don't remember but Russ always has been the best defender on Steph Curry at the pg position, purely because he really sticks on him all game even through all those screens
