I don't think it's safe to say this gamemode is completely gone just yet. I've actually managed to get in contact with someone in the Rocket Racing team and ask a few questions around the matter. I'll run through the important ones. Q: Why was trading removed from Rocket League? A: Epic was forced to pay a fine to the Dutch Government as trading inside of Rocket League broke the law and thus, the removal of trading was done more as a defensive measure against future fines. Rocket Racing played no part in the removal of trading, the timing was purely coincidental. Q. Why is it that Lego Fortnite has had many more cosmetics, content, and overall attention? A. The development team for Rocket Racing CURRENTLY is around 10 people, and was even smaller pre-launch, forcing us to work 7 days a week in the month lead-up to launch. Q. Why were there so many flaws in the game upon launch? A. Since Lego was the massive collab gamemode, most developers were sent to work on it rather than help tackle the problems that lie within how Fortnite itself is set up. (To better explain this - Rocket Racing is actually non-deterministic as it isn't server based. This allows for many many many glitches to get through (such as those that make your car faster, finish instantly, and remove the barriers), as well as slowing the map making process due to the inability to implement UEFN maps into map selection. This is to change in the future and one of the current things they are working upon.) I think the developers have been hit with criticism too heavily. Yes, it's not the BEST arcade racer right now - but what it has is potential. I think the community need to be patient and see what happens next (I have some insight and it sounds AMAZING), they're a small team with a big project at hand. If you're still reading this - the thing that's most likely to help the gamemode is if you jump in and actually play. Even if it's for 10 minutes. The gamemode got off on the wrong foot through a lack of communication, but regardless of if they communicated or not - their hand was forced. As a community if we genuinely want to see this mode thrive - we need more players on the mode. If you have any other questions about the mode - leave them below, I'll answer those that I don't think give away too much and are more about why the game is in the position it's in.
This was very informative and gives a lot more information than I found when researching. I think that’s awesome that you managed to get into contact with some of the dev team for RR. This mode has potential to be a lot bigger with some of these changes you mentioned they’re working on. I’d be interested in making a follow up on this video with some of the information you’ve put out there.
@OldPets. from what I heard, it was proposed - they had a concept fully fleshed out. But it got rejected, saying something like that would never be added. Then when Lego got theirs added, they started developing the concept. Bit disappointing it got rejected originally or it would've been in game already.
The thing is , that epic kept us (rocket league players) hyped for a new racing game mode and everyone thought that it was in rocket league ( and that they finally will start updating rocket league), not in fortnite , and they keep updating fortnite and just leave rocket league with nothing and the game is dead now I forgot to mention that when they started stopping updating rocket league a while after they tweeted that it was BECAUSE OF rocket racing a new racing mode for rocket league Everyone got hyped after and then we discovered its a mode in fortnite and thought that trading got removed because of it (which I think they even said that but the guy you contacted said the opposite)
Epic decided to make this mode in Fortnite instead of Rocket League as an excuse to take away trading to promote their item shop, but also to get Rocket league players away from RL and into FN. Epic is actively trying to kill RL and promote FN. They failed miserably as RL players hate the mode, and instead the player base consists of FN players, and when they want to get items they hop over to RL, attracting more FN players to RL compared to RL players to FN.
I agree heavily that they removed trading to promote their item shop. It's a shame they removed trading because it effectively killed a good chunk of the RL community. RR should have been a RL mode in the first place. The mode is too competitive especially when you hit the higher ranks. I'm in Elite and man is it a struggle trying to get into champion let alone unreal!
@@Twisted_Yeti except the way it was made, the RL community would hate it in their game. They thought it was being created with the exact same precise and perfect physics that RL has, but instead it was a brand new game.
They could do so much more for Rocket Racing, like give us a casual mode, a Racing Pass (for example with the Ferrari they announced months ago and never came), a Power Up mode (like Mario Kart has) and very important: More cosmetics should transfer over!!!
Definitely agree. The thing with a pass though is you can level up the rocket pass in Rocket League and that stuff should transfer over. You should at least be able to level that pass up in Rocket Racing so you don’t have to play Rocket League just to get the stuff. And a Mario kart mode would be super fun!
I’m pretty sure they do have a casual mode it’s the other maps not the ranked rocket racing but it’s quite boring because nobody plays unranked rocket racing and they did state they are considering making a rocket pass

I think most of us knew at least one of the three new modes would kick the bucket after a short lifespan and as time moved on It became more and more obvious on which one it was gonna be.
In my opinion, I sorta like how LEGO Fortnite is going? I kinda wish it was a story based game similar to a traditional LEGO game that would take you through the lore and story of Fortnite rather than the Minecraft-like approach. Just wishful thinking though. 😇
I would say Festival and Lego did great, I’ve played until reached champion on Rocket Racing, I wanted to unlock the rims, decals and different colors. Now that I’ve unlocked, I stopped playing because: I’m over level 200 (mode was good to farm 3 daily quests giving 15k exp each) and the grind to reach to unreal is abysmal (people flipping vehicles mid air, cars hitting the corners of checkpoint portals and bouncing to the next one cutting seconds of a match). How are you suppose to compete on a racing mode like this? I like Zero Build, I started playing Festival because I used to play guitar hero 1, 2 and 3 on PS2 and I “used” rocket racing as xp farm + car items farm. He’s just there as an official mode for these 2 things, nothing more than that.
The problem that you didnt mention of the removal of trading is that there is a big big rocket league community plays the game mostly for trading when they took out trading these communities just died

It’s kind of a pointless game mode like he has legit no similarities to rocket league. It’s just a racing game. And even when they dropped the creative version for players to make maps off you can still only make racing maps.
I still like playing it for the rewards you get because you can also use them in rocket league and I play a lot of rocket league with my brother and the concept is also a mazing, but not many people play it😢
I often see people say "Just add mario kart items to make it better" but i feel like they would have to alter how the cars drive because it's so focused on speed and boosts. Let's say they do add a mode like that and have a green shell esc item, how can you aim it at drivers who are drifting all over the place and boosting ahead.

It’s a fun mode just very competitive. It’s really hard to grind the ranks out when you hit higher ranks like elite. Can also be respective after awhile which is understandable.
Big issue is that Epic thinks people want to race in fortnite, we DON’T for the most part, especially a boring repetitive mode with incredibly hard quests and a “Simulation” Mode for finishing a map as fast as possible, Rocket Pass and Rocket Racing should be combined and Rocket Racing should of been part of Rocket League if they don’t wanna put the Rocket Pass and Rocket Racing together.
Not being able to grind the Rocket Pass in Fortnite or even letting RR have its own pass is not helping the mode. If there was a reason to grind RR besides ranked, I think RR would at least average 10k.
I have ALL of the base game bodies from when Rocket League came out years ago that I grinded out on PS4 and I'm pretty sure the only stuff I've got on Fortnite is a booster effect and a drift effect. Just one of each btw.
Rocket Racing should have been in Rocket League. Fortnite should have gotten Fortnite Kart. Use your own skin, sell kart skins, use the MANY consumables of fortnite as items. I'm still baffled they didn't go with this instead of the weird thing rocket racing is that ultimately caters to nobody.
I think it would’ve seen more success with a Fortnite kart mode. The current setting of Rocket Racing is more niche for sure but at least it’s gotten better. There’s finally a casual racing mode so it’s hopefully not as sweaty.
i swear making a good game is not only the thing you wanna do if you already have a game like fortnite which is not only known for collabs but for interaction, in rocket racing you can't even see your own skin driving or interact with anyone, is just a driving game so of course it feels out of place, like it doesn't belong between lego fortnite or festival. at least those two you can interact face to face its an ambitious idea for the sake of making an ambitious game but without thinking about interaction, because how can you posibly make a driving game feel like youre there with others compared to hitting the griddy as your character and another players crazy character in a band?
Very true. RR is not really a fun game in terms of playing with other players. It's competitive at best in the current state it is in. If they went a different direction with the mode such as a mario kart like mode, it would be doing a lot better than it currently is in my opinion.
The worst part about rocket racing is that it ruined fortnite car collabs just basically making epic games lazier to not create a car that is unique and cool but just reskined versions of cars come into the item shop but in reality it is not a ferari, lambo, cool car it is just a whiplash that epic games made to look different. 😢
Even as an experienced RL player, I just disliked the thought of them doing Rocket Racing. I owed a friend a decal, and now I can't even give it to them because trading's gone 😭
What was good about Epic Games getting to own rl was that it was free to play now. But I knew stuff like this happened right when I heard that epic is buying rl from Psyonix.
Yeah it was fun to try when it went free. I was never a huge RL player but pretty sad to see how it's going because of what they want for Fortnite. Hopefully the game is in a better state eventually.

And it's completely optional if you wanna play it or not. Only thing is that it's $18 but at least you receive vbucks from the Quest books. All in all, 8/10 from me! (Ive had it for 1 year btw)
As a person who plays Fortnite and Rocket League simultaneously, this is a stupid addition to promoting Fortnite. If this and the Lego mode were gone, it wouldn't bother me one bit..
What's bro waffling on about? Rocket Racing is a great mode and it's doing fine. I get into games fast except when playing late at night (I was Unreal last season). Rocket Racing wasn't meant to pull numbers like BR. The "problem" which isn't really a problem is that when you start playing, the maps are far too simple and easy so people assume there's nothing to it as you aren't introduced to the mechanics straight away. FN has so many modes and FN Festival was added alongside RR. Yes there's not many cosmetics in RR and cars from RL haven't been added to RR but again, there's so many modes you can't be expecting them to add so much more, it will take time. Epic is trying to have their own "Metaverse" in Fortnite and everything is going to plan. If you actually pay attention to what they're doing and think about it properly, it's clear that RR hasn't failed and neither have other modes
I like rocket racing , A LOT , and am not even a car guy all that match . I just like how better it gets EVENTUALLY OVERTIME and I NET if give it its time to shine it will become VERY succesful , new maps , new modes , POWERUPS , new mechanics , rocket league pass grindable IN Rocket Racing and A WHOOLE of other chaanges ! Also I ve seen the mode in prime hours and not night hours , achieving over 10l and 13 k sometimes , the mode is NOT dead yet and it wont be , if eventually the do those changes I mentioned above . Stop doing videos abou trendy topics when u dont even care about rocket racing
I assure you I do like Rocket Racing. Out of the three new modes they launched though, RR was the failure of the three. I believe it has a future if they pivot the direction they’re currently going in. I appreciate you taking the time to watch the video :)

the worst part about it is that the rocket league devs started working or rocket racing back in July 2021 and because of that rocket league had no update for over 3 years because the devs weren't working on rocket league so the game died.

@@Blue_eyeofficial For reference, Smite was moved to UE5 from UE3. Unless Psyonix publicly announces that they're cancelling the project, I find it harder to believe they're returning to an outdated engine instead of remaking it as Rocket League 2 on a new engine.
As a high level rr player, I really wish they didn't actively alienate the entire rl audience with the launch, that on top of the high levels of jank early on completely nuked the playercount before it started. Also, 90% of people who are interested in racing games don't want to download 50 gigs of fortnite just to try out a cool new game. It's just really sad overall because the gameplay is incredible but the decisions made around the launch of the game remove almost all of the game's potential audience (fn players don't like car games, rl players mad about trading, racing game players don't want to install fortnite).
100% agree racing game players don’t want to download all of Fortnite just to play RR. I think at one point they said they would make it to where you can download just the separate modes to try them but not sure if they went through with it.
The creation of Fortnite wasn’t hust a game, the Battle Royale is the main attraction while the Lego, Festival and Rocket Racing being the secondary games creating a whole ecosystem around BR. This was the vision of the creator, he talked about this before leaving the development team. This vision will be implemented to keep Fortnite alive, a main game attached to 3~5 secondary games.
BR is def the main attraction to the game. These secondary modes are there to keep people in the Fortnite ecosystem as you said. RR is just not doing as well as the others, and by a noticeable bit. It’s rough to see a paid game (STW) beating out RR since it’s so new. It’s more sad they don’t even update STW.
For those who didn't know, the reason Epic has been so slow to bring car bodies to Fortnite is because Rocket League still uses Unreal Engine 3; so they have to completely rebuild the car models from scratch so that they're more compatible with Unreal Engine 5. This could also be a contributing factor to the higher prices of cars in the Fortnite item shop; making the higher-fidelity (UE5) variants of cars add extra cost when it comes to bringing new cars to Fortnite, so they may need to raise the prices to make up for it.
that is if rl is actively trying to get to ue5.. but with all efforts on fn or other epic games, i think its a very slim chance of acc being a big improvement for rl.
@@Hava.a1 Rocket League being ported to UE5 would be absolutely legendary! I've always wished Rocket League could have the graphics of more recent games. But that'd take a lot of work. It could happen, but I doubt it'll happen any time soon as well. You never know, though... maybe Epic's been working on it...

I’m a top 500 rocket racing player and although the rocket league situation is sad I also really enjoy the new update, added casual racing and a lot more quests so there’s more things to do that also transfer over to rocket league, they occasionally sync more items from my rl garage but there’s a ton of items and a very small team so that will take a while regardless
Yeah I was pleased with the new update. A casual mode is definitely a good step in the right direction and the new maps are pretty fun. Still wish unreal players could get some kind of car body. Regardless, the game is going in a better direction since I made this video and I hope it continues to!

I think they truly undermined the basis of Rocket League after buying it in 2019, it's barely gotten any updates besides the season updates since then and having the long awaited racing mode be put in Fortnite instead just ruined the community in both games and they both keep losing player counts because they are just so uninteresting to play for casual users anymore.
Completely agree. I can’t speak too much on the RL side of things, but in RR its just a racing mode. It gets really hard to rank up the higher you climb and pointless once you hit unreal. If they went in a different direction with the mode such as putting it in RL or even making it similar to Mario kart, it would be in a much better position!

As someone who doesn't care about cosmetics I find this mode to be very fun. If you don't like to play the game then some extra cosmetics probably aren't going to make you like it any more. Calling the game dead is a bit of a stretch too. Racing games are a niche and for that niche this game has a consistent player count.

The most popular Metaverse mode is the newest mode called Fortnite Reload and it may stay as popular as it is right now as the updates for the mode look really good meaning the most successful Metaverse modes are Fortnite Reload, Fortnite Festival, and Lego Fortnite and Rocket Racing is sat as not successful and with the Metaverse expanding with even more modes like most likely a Fall Guys mode and Fortnite is most likely getting an Open World mode most likely in ch6 that will hopefully expand on BR'S story I see Rocket Racing loosing even more players most likely leading Fortnite to discontinue the mode or add a new mode to Rocket Racing kind of like Mario Kart that has weapon attachments from the current BR season and powerups however seeing as that a bunch of people don't like the current BR season cause of the vehicles and vehicle attachments I feel like if Rocket Racing gets a mode like Mario Kart vehicle attachments shouldn't be added and only powerups should so more people actually play it the Metaverse is really good as it brought a mode I really like called Fortnite Reload
I like Rocket Racing. I think it's a cool concept. But the problem here is that this mode gets hardly any attention and is splitting a community. I want it to be a mode that people enjoy and they need to rethink their strategy on how to do it.
The thing is the trailer showed parts where it looked like it would be a Mario kart mode! I really hope they make a mode for that in the future. Would definitely bring some life back to RR!
With the last fortnite update rocket racing experience earned overall, was increased, in everything you do in that mode. They also recently added a metallica collab, a addias collab an a free bonus jam track reward in ranked for those that reach silver 1 in ranked. Already reached silver in ranked? Just do one ranked race an youll automatically get the reward. So, they are currently trying to increase the incintives to play alot more so now. Will see if the trend continues or not soon enough. Imo it needs to, with the extention to the season, seasoned players dont have much to play for once they get everything else. Upside: we can all get 1 easy level up per day by just doing the rocket racinj dailies. Which only takes about 30 minites or less to do. Often its less.
I do like they’ve been doing more with the mode lately. I made this video about a month ago just released it recently which is why I didn’t cover the recent updates. Hopefully the trend reverses because I honestly like Rocket Racing. It just needs to pivot into a different direction for a chance to survive with long term success.
@Twisted_Yeti after learning this, u find it messed up that epic would push out lego skins every update by alot, and neglect rocket racing at the same time, while also letting down tons of people. This whole time, fortnite crew has had rocket racing in it an it's not even doing ehat epic stated it would do.. Whixh is carry over all the cosmetics from rr to fn.. It's beyond messed up. An I believe alot of people just don't know the full story as to why an how this had effected us in general. Weather your a rr player or a fn one. One way or another were getting screwed out of what we should be getting from crew an epic dont seem to want to acknowledge it even. We deserve to have something of equal value in its place of that's the case. Why not lego pass or festival pass. Mae's no sense for them to push lego stuff so hard an not include it in the crew when they can't meet their other obligation in regards to rr an crew.. Other than they just want to make easy money. Be lazy basically.
What I really wish is the ability to progress the rocket pass while playing rocket racing. I don’t see why we shouldn’t be able to. It gives you something to grind even after hitting unreal.

Should've made it Mario Kart with RL mechanics, not Forza with RL mechanics. It's fun for like the first 2 matches but after that it gets immensely repetitive.
Rocket Racing to me an alright place to get XP when you're still grinding for the battle pass. That said the newest update made it so you need to do 9 daily missions to get all the quest XP. Instead of 6, which I'm not a fan of. They did increase the XP, but it means more time playing if you really want it.
I didn’t know they increased dailies from 6 to 9. Sucks that they did that. People would probably play more if they decreased that rather than increase. At least you get a tad more xp though.

I feel like you can't call them seasons at this point. Yes, we get new maps with a new theme but that's about it. Feel like they need to add a little more to justify calling it a season. That's my personal opinion.
I think this video is good content wise but stretches the truth quite a bit, true they might have removed trading from rocket league which is unfortunate, and true they tried to add the mode into Fortnite which flopped a lot, but they added it along with 2 other modes to complete their story line of having parallel demensions or smth. As of skin / cars in game, they have around 30 - 40 cars to choose from, most of which are obtainable from rocket league and they even have another version of car now such as the SUV. The queue times have mostly been fixed and pros and people high in ranked have ways to counter this such as playing private tracks to practice or doing casual racing. As for the glitches / bugs, they are annoying and major errors have since been fixed, but if you learn what they are they are also easily counterable. The game gets updates somewhat frequently but they are slowly making good improvements to make the game more enjoyable for everyone
I agree that they’ve been pretty good with changes lately! The new RR season has been a major improvement on the last, and I look forward to more changes for the better!
I also feel that a main reason rocket racing failed was the whole idea of it. When making a racing game, there are very important attributes to add to make it successful. Since it’s Fortnite, Rocket Racing should’ve taken more of the cartoony approach like Mario kart. Mario Kart has the main focus on the drivers, which is one of the main keys to a successful racing game, memorable characters. Since we don’t see our skins the only thing we can customize is a car which not many players care about, including me. They could’ve added items to the game as well, but they took it too seriously.
my favourite gamemode from the 3 that got added was rocket racing and i still play it sometimes, but my friends dont like it from some reason, they only wanted battle royale, and one even to my disgust lego... i hate lego fortnite, it just feels off
I am also pissed it’s not in RL as if it was it would have been so much better as you would have to use rocket league mechanics to go faster and it would be much more skill full.
They should have a crossplay like thing with rocket racing, where people playing rocket racing via rocket league, can race against people playing rocket racing via fortnite

The game is just boring and doesn’t have anything that makes it unique. The best thing about rocket racing is that I get to use some of my rocket league cars in BR
I recently hit unreal In Rocket Racing and it can takes up to 3 minutes to get one match to not just have enough players or you get a bad placement and lose 3% in champion

Words can’t describe how much hate I have for Tim Sweeney, like NOBODY ASKED FOR THIS, these metaverse modes are the reason why Donald mustard left, I still enjoy current Fortnite but WHAT THE FUCK THESE MODES HAVE TO DO THESE MODES HAVE TO DO WITH BATTLE ROYALE!? Fortnite was supposed to be a battle royale game where you just have to be the last one standing. Epic games needs to listen to their community and get rid of the modes all together instead of this metaverse bullshit
I don’t think they need to get rid of the modes all together, but just more emphasize BR than any other mode. At the end of the day, people know Fortnite as a BR. The other modes are just a nice addition as long as they don’t become the primary focus.

I disagree, I think for Rocket Racing to succeed it needed to be supported by Rocket League fans. Buying every colour option for a car at the prices they are sold on Fortnite is more appealing by design for Rocket League fans the problem is the removal of trading which convinced the majority of rocket league players to steer clear of Rocket Racing leaving Fortnite fans who aren’t likely to dedicate their time to a barebones arcade racer in Fortnite let alone spending upwards of $20 just for a car they *might* use in Fortnite BR
Yeah the game really needs the support of RL players to continue on. Otherwise, it'll keep headed in its current direction. Car prices also need to come down! The new Nissan Z bundle that released is 2800 vbucks wish is insane!
They need to make the Rocket League pass attainable in Rocket Racing, like make where the rocket pass can completed through Rocket Racing so people won't have to install a entire game just to get cosmetics to use in Fortnite. (Not a lot of people like Rocket League or want to play it because it's honestly different & difficult.)
i personally love rocket racing, but there is no real incentive to play it other then some cosmetics, i never really trade in rocket league either so i didn't really care personally that trading was removed, but i will never understand why epic is so against trading, if people get scammed thats completely on them, and i don't see how that would lose money for epic, in fact back in the day i remember trading was one of the main reasons some of my friends kept spending money on rocket league to get cooler items and trade for just as cool items
100% agree that RR is cosmetic driven. There’s not even a whole lot you can earn since you can’t progress the Rocket pass by playing RR. Plus the rewards you get for playing ranked aren’t crazy to begin with. Wish they would give more car bodies out, especially if you hit unreal!

This is my old gameplay too! I’m currently in Elite and almost champion. This was when I was in gold 1. So it’s a lot better than what you see here. I appreciate you saying I know how to play though 😅
I don't think it's safe to say this gamemode is completely gone just yet.
I've actually managed to get in contact with someone in the Rocket Racing team and ask a few questions around the matter. I'll run through the important ones.
Q: Why was trading removed from Rocket League?
A: Epic was forced to pay a fine to the Dutch Government as trading inside of Rocket League broke the law and thus, the removal of trading was done more as a defensive measure against future fines. Rocket Racing played no part in the removal of trading, the timing was purely coincidental.
Q. Why is it that Lego Fortnite has had many more cosmetics, content, and overall attention?
A. The development team for Rocket Racing CURRENTLY is around 10 people, and was even smaller pre-launch, forcing us to work 7 days a week in the month lead-up to launch.
Q. Why were there so many flaws in the game upon launch?
A. Since Lego was the massive collab gamemode, most developers were sent to work on it rather than help tackle the problems that lie within how Fortnite itself is set up.
(To better explain this - Rocket Racing is actually non-deterministic as it isn't server based. This allows for many many many glitches to get through (such as those that make your car faster, finish instantly, and remove the barriers), as well as slowing the map making process due to the inability to implement UEFN maps into map selection. This is to change in the future and one of the current things they are working upon.)
I think the developers have been hit with criticism too heavily. Yes, it's not the BEST arcade racer right now - but what it has is potential. I think the community need to be patient and see what happens next (I have some insight and it sounds AMAZING), they're a small team with a big project at hand.
If you're still reading this - the thing that's most likely to help the gamemode is if you jump in and actually play. Even if it's for 10 minutes. The gamemode got off on the wrong foot through a lack of communication, but regardless of if they communicated or not - their hand was forced. As a community if we genuinely want to see this mode thrive - we need more players on the mode.
If you have any other questions about the mode - leave them below, I'll answer those that I don't think give away too much and are more about why the game is in the position it's in.
This was very informative and gives a lot more information than I found when researching. I think that’s awesome that you managed to get into contact with some of the dev team for RR. This mode has potential to be a lot bigger with some of these changes you mentioned they’re working on. Do you know if there is going to be a battle pass for rocket racing? Since there is for festival and lego.
@OldPets. from what I heard, it was proposed - they had a concept fully fleshed out. But it got rejected, saying something like that would never be added. Then when Lego got theirs added, they started developing the concept. Bit disappointing it got rejected originally or it would've been in game already.
The thing is , that epic kept us (rocket league players) hyped for a new racing game mode and everyone thought that it was in rocket league ( and that they finally will start updating rocket league), not in fortnite , and they keep updating fortnite and just leave rocket league with nothing and the game is dead now
I forgot to mention that when they started stopping updating rocket league a while after they tweeted that it was BECAUSE OF rocket racing a new racing mode for rocket league
Everyone got hyped after and then we discovered its a mode in fortnite and thought that trading got removed because of it (which I think they even said that but the guy you contacted said the opposite)
Epic decided to make this mode in Fortnite instead of Rocket League as an excuse to take away trading to promote their item shop, but also to get Rocket league players away from RL and into FN. Epic is actively trying to kill RL and promote FN. They failed miserably as RL players hate the mode, and instead the player base consists of FN players, and when they want to get items they hop over to RL, attracting more FN players to RL compared to RL players to FN.
I agree heavily that they removed trading to promote their item shop. It's a shame they removed trading because it effectively killed a good chunk of the RL community. RR should have been a RL mode in the first place. The mode is too competitive especially when you hit the higher ranks. I'm in Elite and man is it a struggle trying to get into champion let alone unreal!
@@Twisted_Yeti except the way it was made, the RL community would hate it in their game. They thought it was being created with the exact same precise and perfect physics that RL has, but instead it was a brand new game.

They could do so much more for Rocket Racing, like give us a casual mode, a Racing Pass (for example with the Ferrari they announced months ago and never came), a Power Up mode (like Mario Kart has) and very important: More cosmetics should transfer over!!!
Definitely agree. The thing with a pass though is you can level up the rocket pass in Rocket League and that stuff should transfer over. You should at least be able to level that pass up in Rocket Racing so you don’t have to play Rocket League just to get the stuff. And a Mario kart mode would be super fun!
I’m pretty sure they do have a casual mode it’s the other maps not the ranked rocket racing but it’s quite boring because nobody plays unranked rocket racing and they did state they are considering making a rocket pass

In my opinion, I sorta like how LEGO Fortnite is going? I kinda wish it was a story based game similar to a traditional LEGO game that would take you through the lore and story of Fortnite rather than the Minecraft-like approach. Just wishful thinking though. 😇
I would say Festival and Lego did great, I’ve played until reached champion on Rocket Racing, I wanted to unlock the rims, decals and different colors.
Now that I’ve unlocked, I stopped playing because: I’m over level 200 (mode was good to farm 3 daily quests giving 15k exp each) and the grind to reach to unreal is abysmal (people flipping vehicles mid air, cars hitting the corners of checkpoint portals and bouncing to the next one cutting seconds of a match). How are you suppose to compete on a racing mode like this?
I like Zero Build, I started playing Festival because I used to play guitar hero 1, 2 and 3 on PS2 and I “used” rocket racing as xp farm + car items farm. He’s just there as an official mode for these 2 things, nothing more than that.
Next one to die in my opinion is festival. It has very repetitive gameplay.
The problem that you didnt mention of the removal of trading is that there is a big big rocket league community plays the game mostly for trading when they took out trading these communities just died

It’s kind of a pointless game mode like he has legit no similarities to rocket league. It’s just a racing game. And even when they dropped the creative version for players to make maps off you can still only make racing maps.

I still like playing it for the rewards you get because you can also use them in rocket league and I play a lot of rocket league with my brother and the concept is also a mazing, but not many people play it😢

I often see people say "Just add mario kart items to make it better" but i feel like they would have to alter how the cars drive because it's so focused on speed and boosts.
Let's say they do add a mode like that and have a green shell esc item, how can you aim it at drivers who are drifting all over the place and boosting ahead.

I been enjoying playing rocket racing since last year when it first came out so I don’t know why people doesn’t like this game
It’s a fun mode just very competitive. It’s really hard to grind the ranks out when you hit higher ranks like elite. Can also be respective after awhile which is understandable.
Big issue is that Epic thinks people want to race in fortnite, we DON’T for the most part, especially a boring repetitive mode with incredibly hard quests and a “Simulation” Mode for finishing a map as fast as possible, Rocket Pass and Rocket Racing should be combined and Rocket Racing should of been part of Rocket League if they don’t wanna put the Rocket Pass and Rocket Racing together.
Not being able to grind the Rocket Pass in Fortnite or even letting RR have its own pass is not helping the mode. If there was a reason to grind RR besides ranked, I think RR would at least average 10k.
I have ALL of the base game bodies from when Rocket League came out years ago that I grinded out on PS4 and I'm pretty sure the only stuff I've got on Fortnite is a booster effect and a drift effect. Just one of each btw.
Rocket Racing should have been in Rocket League.
Fortnite should have gotten Fortnite Kart. Use your own skin, sell kart skins, use the MANY consumables of fortnite as items. I'm still baffled they didn't go with this instead of the weird thing rocket racing is that ultimately caters to nobody.
I think it would’ve seen more success with a Fortnite kart mode. The current setting of Rocket Racing is more niche for sure but at least it’s gotten better. There’s finally a casual racing mode so it’s hopefully not as sweaty.

i swear making a good game is not only the thing you wanna do if you already have a game like fortnite which is not only known for collabs but for interaction, in rocket racing you can't even see your own skin driving or interact with anyone, is just a driving game so of course it feels out of place, like it doesn't belong between lego fortnite or festival. at least those two you can interact face to face
its an ambitious idea for the sake of making an ambitious game but without thinking about interaction, because how can you posibly make a driving game feel like youre there with others compared to hitting the griddy as your character and another players crazy character in a band?
Very true. RR is not really a fun game in terms of playing with other players. It's competitive at best in the current state it is in. If they went a different direction with the mode such as a mario kart like mode, it would be doing a lot better than it currently is in my opinion.
The worst part about rocket racing is that it ruined fortnite car collabs just basically making epic games lazier to not create a car that is unique and cool but just reskined versions of cars come into the item shop but in reality it is not a ferari, lambo, cool car it is just a whiplash that epic games made to look different. 😢
They’ve done decent with the car designs, the real problem is how much they cost. For example, the Lamborghini was 3,500 vbucks. That’s way to much!

What was good about Epic Games getting to own rl was that it was free to play now. But I knew stuff like this happened right when I heard that epic is buying rl from Psyonix.
Yeah it was fun to try when it went free. I was never a huge RL player but pretty sad to see how it's going because of what they want for Fortnite. Hopefully the game is in a better state eventually.

As a person who plays Fortnite and Rocket League simultaneously, this is a stupid addition to promoting Fortnite. If this and the Lego mode were gone, it wouldn't bother me one bit..

What's bro waffling on about? Rocket Racing is a great mode and it's doing fine. I get into games fast except when playing late at night (I was Unreal last season). Rocket Racing wasn't meant to pull numbers like BR. The "problem" which isn't really a problem is that when you start playing, the maps are far too simple and easy so people assume there's nothing to it as you aren't introduced to the mechanics straight away. FN has so many modes and FN Festival was added alongside RR. Yes there's not many cosmetics in RR and cars from RL haven't been added to RR but again, there's so many modes you can't be expecting them to add so much more, it will take time. Epic is trying to have their own "Metaverse" in Fortnite and everything is going to plan. If you actually pay attention to what they're doing and think about it properly, it's clear that RR hasn't failed and neither have other modes

For the most part yes. There are a few dedicated players to the mode but a very small fraction of that player base.

I like rocket racing , A LOT , and am not even a car guy all that match . I just like how better it gets EVENTUALLY OVERTIME and I NET if give it its time to shine it will become VERY succesful , new maps , new modes , POWERUPS , new mechanics , rocket league pass grindable IN Rocket Racing and A WHOOLE of other chaanges ! Also I ve seen the mode in prime hours and not night hours , achieving over 10l and 13 k sometimes , the mode is NOT dead yet and it wont be , if eventually the do those changes I mentioned above . Stop doing videos abou trendy topics when u dont even care about rocket racing

the worst part about it is that the rocket league devs started working or rocket racing back in July 2021 and because of that rocket league had no update for over 3 years because the devs weren't working on rocket league so the game died.
I didn't know they were working on a racing mode for RL way back in 2021. That's crazy. They fumble is even crazier knowing this now!

Unless Psyonix publicly announces that they're cancelling the project, I find it harder to believe they're returning to an outdated engine instead of remaking it as Rocket League 2 on a new engine.

As a high level rr player, I really wish they didn't actively alienate the entire rl audience with the launch, that on top of the high levels of jank early on completely nuked the playercount before it started. Also, 90% of people who are interested in racing games don't want to download 50 gigs of fortnite just to try out a cool new game. It's just really sad overall because the gameplay is incredible but the decisions made around the launch of the game remove almost all of the game's potential audience (fn players don't like car games, rl players mad about trading, racing game players don't want to install fortnite).
100% agree racing game players don’t want to download all of Fortnite just to play RR. I think at one point they said they would make it to where you can download just the separate modes to try them but not sure if they went through with it.

The creation of Fortnite wasn’t hust a game, the Battle Royale is the main attraction while the Lego, Festival and Rocket Racing being the secondary games creating a whole ecosystem around BR. This was the vision of the creator, he talked about this before leaving the development team.
This vision will be implemented to keep Fortnite alive, a main game attached to 3~5 secondary games.
BR is def the main attraction to the game. These secondary modes are there to keep people in the Fortnite ecosystem as you said. RR is just not doing as well as the others, and by a noticeable bit. It’s rough to see a paid game (STW) beating out RR since it’s so new. It’s more sad they don’t even update STW.
For those who didn't know, the reason Epic has been so slow to bring car bodies to Fortnite is because Rocket League still uses Unreal Engine 3; so they have to completely rebuild the car models from scratch so that they're more compatible with Unreal Engine 5. This could also be a contributing factor to the higher prices of cars in the Fortnite item shop; making the higher-fidelity (UE5) variants of cars add extra cost when it comes to bringing new cars to Fortnite, so they may need to raise the prices to make up for it.

@@Hava.a1 Rocket League being ported to UE5 would be absolutely legendary! I've always wished Rocket League could have the graphics of more recent games. But that'd take a lot of work. It could happen, but I doubt it'll happen any time soon as well.

I’m a top 500 rocket racing player and although the rocket league situation is sad I also really enjoy the new update, added casual racing and a lot more quests so there’s more things to do that also transfer over to rocket league, they occasionally sync more items from my rl garage but there’s a ton of items and a very small team so that will take a while regardless
Yeah I was pleased with the new update. A casual mode is definitely a good step in the right direction and the new maps are pretty fun. Still wish unreal players could get some kind of car body. Regardless, the game is going in a better direction since I made this video and I hope it continues to!

I think they truly undermined the basis of Rocket League after buying it in 2019, it's barely gotten any updates besides the season updates since then and having the long awaited racing mode be put in Fortnite instead just ruined the community in both games and they both keep losing player counts because they are just so uninteresting to play for casual users anymore.
Completely agree. I can’t speak too much on the RL side of things, but in RR its just a racing mode. It gets really hard to rank up the higher you climb and pointless once you hit unreal. As someone who doesn't care about cosmetics I find this mode to be very fun. If you don't like to play the game then some extra cosmetics probably aren't going to make you like it any more. Calling the game dead is a bit of a stretch too. Racing games are a niche and for that niche this game has a consistent player count.

The most popular Metaverse mode is the newest mode called Fortnite Reload and it may stay as popular as it is right now as the updates for the mode look really good meaning the most successful Metaverse modes are Fortnite Reload, Fortnite Festival, and Lego Fortnite and Rocket Racing is sat as not successful and with the Metaverse expanding with even more modes like most likely a Fall Guys mode and Fortnite is most likely getting an Open World mode most likely in ch6 that will hopefully expand on BR'S story I see Rocket Racing loosing even more players most likely leading Fortnite to discontinue the mode or add a new mode to Rocket Racing kind of like Mario Kart that has weapon attachments from the current BR season and powerups however seeing as that a bunch of people don't like the current BR season cause of the vehicles and vehicle attachments I feel like if Rocket Racing gets a mode like Mario Kart vehicle attachments shouldn't be added and only powerups should so more people actually play it the Metaverse is really good as it brought a mode I really like called Fortnite Reload
Fortnite reload is a lot of fun for sure. It's more to the tune of BR which is why I think that mode will stay popular for quite some time!

I like Rocket Racing. I think it's a cool concept. But the problem here is that this mode gets hardly any attention and is splitting a community. I want it to be a mode that people enjoy and they need to rethink their strategy on how to do it.
Absolutely agree. If they had gone with a Mario kart like mode I think it would’ve done a lot better now and in the long term.

The thing is the trailer showed parts where it looked like it would be a Mario kart mode! I really hope they make a mode for that in the future. Would definitely bring some life back to RR!
With the last fortnite update rocket racing experience earned overall, was increased, in everything you do in that mode.
They also recently added a metallica collab, a addias collab an a free bonus jam track reward in ranked for those that reach silver 1 in ranked.
Already reached silver in ranked? Just do one ranked race an youll automatically get the reward.
So, they are currently trying to increase the incintives to play alot more so now.
Will see if the trend continues or not soon enough.
Imo it needs to, with the extention to the season, seasoned players dont have much to play for once they get everything else.
Upside: we can all get 1 easy level up per day by just doing the rocket racinj dailies. Which only takes about 30 minites or less to do. Often its less.
I do like they’ve been doing more with the mode lately. I made this video about a month ago just released it recently which is why I didn’t cover the recent updates. Hopefully the trend reverses because I honestly like Rocket Racing. It just needs to pivot into a different direction for a chance to survive with long term success.
@Twisted_Yeti after learning this, u find it messed up that epic would push out lego skins every update by alot, and neglect rocket racing at the same time, while also letting down tons of people.

It's beyond messed up. An I believe alot of people just don't know the full story as to why an how this had effected us in general. Weather your a rr player or a fn one.
One way or another were getting screwed out of what we should be getting from crew an epic dont seem to want to acknowledge it even.

Why not lego pass or festival pass. Mae's no sense for them to push lego stuff so hard an not include it in the crew when they can't meet their other obligation in regards to rr an crew..

What I really wish is the ability to progress the rocket pass while playing rocket racing. I don’t see why we shouldn’t be able to. It gives you something to grind even after hitting unreal.

Should've made it Mario Kart with RL mechanics, not Forza with RL mechanics. It's fun for like the first 2 matches but after that it gets immensely repetitive.
Especially when playing ranked and you get to the higher ranks.
Rocket Racing to me an alright place to get XP when you're still grinding for the battle pass. That said the newest update made it so you need to do 9 daily missions to get all the quest XP. Instead of 6, which I'm not a fan of. They did increase the XP, but it means more time playing if you really want it.
I didn’t know they increased dailies from 6 to 9. Sucks that they did that. People would probably play more if they decreased that rather than increase. At least you get a tad more xp though.

I feel like you can't call them seasons at this point. Yes, we get new maps with a new theme but that's about it. Feel like they need to add a little more to justify calling it a season. That's my personal opinion.
I think this video is good content wise but stretches the truth quite a bit, true they might have removed trading from rocket league which is unfortunate, and true they tried to add the mode into Fortnite which flopped a lot, but they added it along with 2 other modes to complete their story line of having parallel demensions or smth. As of skin / cars in game, they have around 30 - 40 cars to choose from, most of which are obtainable from rocket league and they even have another version of car now such as the SUV. The queue times have mostly been fixed and pros and people high in ranked have ways to counter this such as playing private tracks to practice or doing casual racing. As for the glitches / bugs, they are annoying and major errors have since been fixed, but if you learn what they are they are also easily counterable. The game gets updates somewhat frequently but they are slowly making good improvements to make the game more enjoyable for everyone
I agree that they’ve been pretty good with changes lately! The new RR season has been a major improvement on the last, and I look forward to more changes for the better!
I also feel that a main reason rocket racing failed was the whole idea of it. When making a racing game, there are very important attributes to add to make it successful. Since it’s Fortnite, Rocket Racing should’ve taken more of the cartoony approach like Mario kart. Mario Kart has the main focus on the drivers, which is one of the main keys to a successful racing game, memorable characters. Since we don’t see our skins the only thing we can customize is a car which not many players care about, including me. They could’ve added items to the game as well, but they took it too seriously.

I recently hit unreal In Rocket Racing and it can takes up to 3 minutes to get one match to not just have enough players or you get a bad placement and lose 3% in champion

Fortnite was supposed to be a battle royale game where you just have to be the last one standing. Epic games needs to listen to their community and get rid of the modes all together instead of this metaverse bullshit
I don’t think they need to get rid of the modes all together, but just more emphasize BR than any other mode. At the end of the day, people know Fortnite as a BR. The other modes are just a nice addition as long as they don’t become the primary focus.

I disagree, I think for Rocket Racing to succeed it needed to be supported by Rocket League fans. Buying every colour option for a car at the prices they are sold on Fortnite is more appealing by design for Rocket League fans the problem is the removal of trading which convinced the majority of rocket league players to steer clear of Rocket Racing leaving Fortnite fans who aren’t likely to dedicate their time to a barebones arcade racer in Fortnite let alone spending upwards of $20 just for a car they *might* use in Fortnite BR
Yeah the game really needs the support of RL players to continue on. Otherwise, it'll keep headed in its current direction. Car prices also need to come down! The new Nissan Z bundle that released is 2800 vbucks wish is insane!

They need to make the Rocket League pass attainable in Rocket Racing, like make where the rocket pass can completed through Rocket Racing so people won't have to install a entire game just to get cosmetics to use in Fortnite. (Not a lot of people like Rocket League or want to play it because it's honestly different & difficult.)

i personally love rocket racing, but there is no real incentive to play it other then some cosmetics, i never really trade in rocket league either so i didn't really care personally that trading was removed, but i will never understand why epic is so against trading, if people get scammed thats completely on them, and i don't see how that would lose money for epic, in fact back in the day i remember trading was one of the main reasons some of my friends kept spending money on rocket league to get cooler items and trade for just as cool items
100% agree that RR is cosmetic driven. There’s not even a whole lot you can earn since you can’t progress the Rocket pass by playing RR. Plus the rewards you get for playing ranked aren’t crazy to begin with. Wish they would give more car bodies out, especially if you hit unreal!
