- It's been a while since I've played Street Fighter III: 3rd Strike and I decided to go through the arcade mode... with literally the worst character of the game. Let me just tell you why Sean in 3S SUCKS! Let me know in the comments below how you feel about him!

And he does not have hadoken and his shoryuken sucks
hadoken only matters if your name is akuma, that shoryu is mad trash though since he can't get knockdowns

The sad part is that even if he hadn't been good in 2I, his kit still sounds really good. He could be part shoto like Ken/Ryu, but he could have his own unique take that shows his lack of skill (like Sakura). He could even be part grappler like his sister.
Plus, in canon, he's a lot like Sakura. I honestly hope they meet someday, it would be a nice parallel to have Ken and Ryu's students (two close friends themselves) be buddies.
Isn't Sakura already a university student by the time of V? By the time 3S happens she may have already graduated and it's unclear canonically if she continues street fighting or decides to settle down.
Having said that, there could be a good interaction between an older, wiser sakura and sean on the nature of chasing your idols and defining your own path in life.
The most painful part about loving Street Fighter is thinking about how awesome it could be
Probably in the future Sean will half shoto and grappler like his sister in SF6

6:08 - for real that's one of the first things that really got me into 3s. The hadouken supers and such have the clothes that spike in the back, the artwork is SO clean
Wow, he even beat it before the difficulty lowered. (For those that don't know, if you lose to him enough times in a row he taunts to signal the game is starting to show mercy. The game actually turns down the difficulty when he does that.)
I remember when I first played 3S arcade, I got annoyed when he laughed. Now I straight up let him do it.
Also, does he still lower the difficulty even if you him him during the laugh?
Too bad it pisses me off.
He taunts because the difficulty has lowered, his difficulty doesn’t lower when he taunts.
I thought his taunt just builds meter

Just beat 3rd strike's arcade mode for the first time with Sean, didn't realize till I got to this video that he was one of if not the worst characters in the game lmao it took me like 10 tries on Gill
@@greengreninja5701 game design isnt about creating unplayable characters, bad and good depends on statistics of matchups of human players, usually it means nobody like to use this character because he is black in pink kimono
Sean is so bad in this game that even a casual like me can instantly tell just how bad he is. There's just...nothing you can do with him.
"Fun" fact: Sean's jumping heavies have about 3 less frames of hit-stun than the other shotos', making jump-in combos with Sean harder compared to the rest of the roster.

That last part was SO Satisfying. I have 4 mains in 3S and Sean is #4.
I always hated that Capcom nerfed Sean in Third Strike. He was a great character in New Generation and 2nd Impact. His double uppercuts hit hard and his ground tackle is a grab and not a hit. Now he got a lame uppercut that is not really effective and his tackle is a hit and not a grab. Even his Tatsu have recovery now.
I think they should do an updated Sean where he trained with Ken and his sister Laura and give him updated and more moves.....they ain't give my boy a fair shake

I saw some official art of Sean as a Dark Hado user and I thought that could be an interesting turn. What if he got so frustrated by his weakness and no one taking him seriously that he leaned into the Satsui? Like a kind of Anti-Dan, so to speak.

Dude doing combos with Sean using his basketball taunts is straight fire and when you beat someone who's using a top tier the feeling you get after is so rewarding...Just dont be surprised by how many people start to rage quit on you....I think in the future Sean should become the new Akuma....more since it dont seem like his current master dosent really take Sean's Training to seriously and with Ryu all ready turning down Akuma ...it seems like Akuma could just sweep in and take advantage of Seans desire to become the strongest....then you could have Sean take out Ken his former master and have Ken's son be trained by Ryu and go after Sean as revenge for his father...
Sean main here , spare yourself the trouble. just pick Ken he's what Sean should be.
You would you only get to use three buttons, any other moves, you win solely on the opponents inexperience. Coming from 2I I hated 3S and (still do tbh) but its americas favorite streetfighter so I'm stuck

Ken will surpass Ryu by training Sean to be the ultimate fighter and master of the shoryuken. This is my head canon prophecy.
Sakura is better and she only got to train with dan and blanka I think

Are we seriously pretending that most of the cast having no ground game knowledge and Sakura being in a lower weight class than Sean? 🤔🤣 and a LOT older, street fighter alpha was based in the 80s and third strike is based in the late 90s

One of the most annoying things about gill was his disproportionate long quick legs, the moment your inputs showed an opening he'd kick low with an elbow combo

if sean comes back in a future game capcom should lean more into his basketball moveset, maybe give him a growth spurt while still being a shoto at his core.
To me Sean should have a more stylized shoto-based moveset kinda like Sakura (that draws less from shotos unlike Dan in SFA). I mean even more stylized than his 3s moveset. More personal character in his animations (also kinda like SF4 Dan) and focusing more on basketball and grappling (in his throws). That kind of random mix seems ideal for him.
This is imo the best way to give the game "more shotos" but actually not really (not a shoto clone). Sakura in 1996 was the first success case of how to evolve the mindset of shoto char creation. And recently the devs finally dared to give Ken more personality to his shoto moveset. I hope SF6 take things even further with his moveset.

This is why I quit playing 3rd Strike.. His ending even show Capcom putting the middle finger on NG/2I Sean mains. SNK wouldn't do that to Marco from Garou.
He must have been your favorite to quit playing a game cause of a sad ending for a character
Ibuki’s theme is top tier.
If you parry both hits of the Moonsault Knee Drop, Gill lands closer to you and you're plus enough to dash and be right in his face. Insert favorite big damage combo here. Also...can't you uppercut Gill during Resurrection when he's at 20-25%? (Don't know the frame data on that, but I remember doing that.)
Parrying that knee drop is a big help in battling Gill.

hadou burst sean is a lot of fun. my buddy used to argue shoryu cannon was the math but not my style. i use more hurricane kick and the overhead kick so i loved your play style.

Sean isn't the worst character in the game, it's Twelve. Sean still has buttons that do a LOT of damage. Twelve does half of what other low tier characters do, while also having very unsafe buttons.
The only version of twelve that does decent damage is his xcopy against another 12

3rd Strike... recently I went to an arcade (sorta) and they had the game settings on highest difficulty, vs mode FULLY disabled and continues DISABLED... in other words, we had to make our credits count by beating the game WITHOUT losing a match, and it was a hard task on itself, given how you had to take advantage of any mistake from the AI AND knowing how to use the parry system properly (not to mention that the operator challenged us to do 1 credit run WITH the special fight against Q triggered) one of my friends and I somehow managed to pull that off by mere luck (well, my friend got it easy overall, but me?!... pure luck as I literally have a veeeery long time without playing ANY of the 3 Street Fighters 3 at all) so... of course I had to struggle the entire game, not to mention Gill made me restart the run 30 times before I completed the challenge (and I had to restart another 40 times in the previous fights before the good run).

In Toronto, more people played as Q and Urien in 3rd Strike Arcade Edition. Shin Akuma & Evil Ryu need to be in SF6 for me to opt in.

3rd Strike is hard in general. It didn't have focus attacks like in Street Fighter 4 and no guard breaking gauge where if you keep blocking the opponents attacks too much your guard will be broken

Dear Justin, if you are willing to play Sean, please try using Luke VS2 in SFV, with the goal of beating command grabs or super grabs with it. I've been watching all of Poongko's videos since he seems to be the only Luke using VS2, but he has only countered normal throws with it, and you can tech normal throws. I was hype about his VS2 because parrying a command grab is something that's pretty unique... but no one ever does it. And I feel it's a huge waste, cause honestly when it was first shown, the move generated some hype reactions. I know VS1 is better, but I just felt hyped when I saw Luke beating out Raging Demon. and I'm hoping to see some of that in actual high level matches. Heck, I'll accept unranked high level matches if you don't want to lose rating. I just want to see if the move is ABSOLUTE garbage or whether it can possibly be salvaged, or whether (crosses fingers here) it might actually somehow be a viable pick over VS1...
Heck, come to think of it, I don't mind if it's scripted at this point, as long as I can see some videos which show some clutch usage of VS2 in what you judge to be "realistic" situations... The concept of a grab parry just sounds awesome to me, and the idea that the move might sound cool in theory but be near useless in practice, that just #feelsbadman
I always liked Sean, was sad at what they did to him in part 3. It is good to see even professionals struggle with Gill. To beat Gill you HAVE to parry and use all your skills and MAYBE you'll win.
I wish I had competed more back in the day, I could parry all day and night and played at a top tier level. Now I'm trash and I'm ok with that lol. I always just wanted to play for fun. Winning is fun, but idc if Ihave bad habits. The game is fun, I'm here to have fun.

Sean is low tier for a host of semi-complex reasons. The short answer? His supers are subpar and cost too much, his normals are all worse versions of normals found on other characters, and his combo potential is severely limited because of bad frame data (a couple of his moves are - on hit, which is just terrible). What makes him unique from the other shotos isn't good or worth the trade off you take when sacrificing Ryu or Ken's power. Watch Bafaels bad balance episode on him, and you will start to get a good idea.
For less knowledgeable players trying him out, they will lose a bunch of trades they seem like they should have won or matched. Leading to invariably frustrating matches.
You CAN make him work, but you have to really, really work at it, and unless you're just looking to brag it's not worth getting that good with him. Like with Twelve, but at least Twelve is a totally unique character.

It's a shame what Capcom did to Sean through in the SF3 series. In NG he was top tier and they nerfed the crap out of him. In that game Sean almost had a re-dizzy combo. It sadly ended one hit short of doing it.
I like the basketball combo setups.

No, sean Can atleast play, twelve straight up doesn’t work, one dp or random parry punish and he’s done, it feels like playing dark souls except in street fighter

Twelve is way worse than sean, almost 0 knockdowns, no dmg, and unless your close to the opponent that your in breathing range you come out minus on HIT!

When you see Hong Kong's tournament winner destroy the European tournament winners chun li with Sean and did the daigo parry before Daigo did in the same match. You know the skill level isn't close between players.

XBOX released the Ninja Project from Temco! That's the final versions of Dead or Alive 1 - 3 and 4 for a single price. You can easily find Dead or Alive 5 Last Round for the PSN and Computer. Also Dead or Alive 6 is selling for budget now. All of the Dead or Alive main entries are readily available for cheap-- no mountain searches. No other fighting game has had all their entries ready to snatch at one time-- not even Street Fighter.
Now is the best time to hop into Dead or Alive. C'mon Justin let the world hear you say "I'm a Fighter".
