I walked up and played this guy playing Astaroth and mopped him with Talim. This grown ass man really tried to fight a 10 year old me till my friend’s dad stepped in. Shit was hilarious.

We went to the arcade before the movie started, and I played some Soul Calibur 2. Grown ass man comes up with his lady, picks Mitsurugi. He beats me two rounds, but I downloaded him and ended up taking the next 3. Dude threatened to beat my ass lol. Embarrassing.

I used to play Servbot a lot back then, it was hilarious how bad it was, but nobody could beat me cause I can just use 2L while nobody can hit me due to them not knowing how lows work.
I mean like...even if you DO know how to hit him, he is surprisingly powerful. Imagine just walking through hypers and beating enemies in the face? To say nothing of that Summon that frees your character up, so you get full hits on that AND a full additional one for some very nice damage.

I CONSTANTLY see Zangief struggling to do much of anything, except die. Doubly so with how little range his Hypers and Moves have. Hell even Iron Zangief is MUCH less useful compared to Servobot's Giant Mallet Hyper as we saw. Not to mention few Characters, if any, have that whole "After I use my Summon Hyper, I can IMMEDIATELY do LITERALLY anything else. Including another Hyper, BEFORE this one is done!"
They gotta Git Gud as the saying goes. Though Zangief was still trash. Why Servobot is considered worse than him, I'll NEVER understand. Like seriously that Mallet Hyper is FAR better than I thought, along with his "Summon Servobots" allowing you to get your FULL initial Hyper AND a Second one simultaneously! Normally you need to tag team to get that!

His shk is a good anti air, good pressure, cancelable and us also extremely good and comboable. The only thing bad about Gief is it's semi hard to get in and that he can't combo into super. It still baffles me how Capcom didn't think this one thru and actually let him combo into super. Other than that, he's 100% better than Servbot. Servbot doesn't have good normals or range. And the only good tool he has going for him is his normal jump canceling ability and super cancel DHC. Other than that, he's absolutely trash here.

As someone who also hung out at Chinatown Fair circa 2000, you're dead on. A dangerous place at times. I'd love for you to do an extended video on the arcade scene there. The way you shit talk and have fun reminded me of hanging out there as a teenager, now I know you grew up around the same fighting scene.
Per the arcade convo: If we're talking about Chinatown Fair, I went there a few times a year, every year, starting in 2001. I saw at least a couple fights, but I remember a shocking amount of people selling drugs in there before it came under new management. I feel like the last three times I went there with dates, dudes came up to us trying to sell us stuff.
Great that you are going on with the low tier runs. I'd like to see CvS2, A2, A3, KoF 95/96, etc. Those are more fun to try that idea than the Marvel games.

When I was younger here in Vegas, we had this dank-ass dark arcade called Mary K's. It was a total dive but the games were cheap and always operational. I witnessed a few throw downs inside and outside. The cops would occasionally come to stop some nonsense. One night, while playing Project Justice, the cops came in to arrest this kid who was causing shit earlier and was playing the game next to me. In the middle of my match, I see a 9mm flash by my head as they were cuffing this dude. Fun times.

Roll isn't as bad as ppl think, she's Pretty quick, her special moves are good and can be deadly If you lose focus, she's little so hitting her won't be easy, and the supers are really good, especialy beat plane with it's massive blockstun/hitstun, option coverage and possible damage
Never been to the China town arcade , the little Tokyo arcade , down town la on 7th street , family arcade (on Vermont ) , pac man arcade in Pasadena were amazing for fighting games but dangerous. You get beat up by salty players or for your money.

I just got a mvc arcade1up and modded it to play either Dreamcast mvc2 or Naomi arcade mvc2 but don’t really see too many in depth tutorials how which buttons to press to learn bread and butter combos

holy crap! the fights commentary was on point! growing up in hawaii i saw a lot more than 10 fights at the arcade! people would fight for small stuff like stealing a quarter off the cabinet we used as placeholders who got next. fights if someone bumped into you when you were playing and caused you to lose the match. catching someone trying to pickpocket another person who was playing. shit talking people. yeah, the arcades back in the day werent nothing to fuck with! a lot of asian kids took martial arts and most of us had knives or brass knuckles too. amazing how it was nothing big back in the day but now with social media and camera phones its a lot different!

I remember playing SF Hyper Fighting, was brand new, at a donut shop and looking outside as the next round was starting and these guys were straight stomping another guy's ass in.
