  • Yamaha has had a challenging start to the 2024 season, but it was still able to sign Quartararo, the 2021 world champion, to a new two-year contract that extends past the end of the current campaign.
Quartararo has won two MotoGP races at Jerez. Despite a string of crashes ahead of him, the Frenchman finished an unexpected third in the 12-lap sprint, although he was later docked to fifth for breaking the minimum tire pressure regulation.
Quartararo battled to get a single point in 15th place from a career-worst 23rd position on the grid, so there were no similar heroics in the Grand Prix.

Please stop using content from video games @3:15. It’s really not necessary.

Hopefully Yamaha can close up the gap because it would only be exciting if they could.
And I also really want VR46 to switch to Yamaha but I can understand why they don’t want to. Though Pramac is the only hope for them now.

V4!!!!!! They’d were all 2t V4s in the 500cc 2t era. The reason being it was the superior configuration. Don’t go V4 and they will not win.

They already have a V4 from the V Max, come on Yamaha use your brains.

Honestly no offense, however comparing a VMax as a base for a MotoGP engine is like roller skates to an F1 car.

@@user-gz9vv1nl3b I guess but my point is they have successfully built a V4 and are absolutely no where with the current engines. I wouldn't have thought it impossible to create a new race engine. Is not as if they would be needing to homologate them. Otherwise they will have some leans season's and its not to say the new regulations will work for them. But we will see.

@@fireblade1329 Maybe, maybe not. 21 & 22 it came down to the last race so the Yamaha engine couldn't be so bad. It seems the Yamaha is having issues with aero and electronics and handling now more than engine issues. Doesn't help that Yamaha only has two bikes on the grid as opposed to Ducati with 8 and Aprilia and KTM with 4. Honda seems a lost cause at the moment, sadly. I think Fabio is encouraged by team members changing more than anything, something Honda needs as well imo. Not knocking a Yamaha V4 however I think it does matter that a manufacturer sell what they race so I wouldn't mind seeing a Yamaha V4.

@@user-gz9vv1nl3b if it wins on Sunday it sells on Monday. The Euro V4s seem to have it right, why Honda are so bad amazises me. But we need to see how the new rules impact, I personally would like to see Kawasaki and Suzuki back in the mix.

But I hope they keep the I4 engine because it will be boring with only one type of engine.
I hope they will figure out to extract more power from the i4.

I don't think you understand how difficult/expensive it is to design an engine from scratch, even a prototype like for motoGP.

No reason for Yamaha not to use a v4 now that the r1 will be discontinued no need to keep the brand image maybe we’ll se it when the new regulations come into effect
