Venerable Guo Dong, former Abbot-President of the Dharma Drum Organization, visited the Tallahassee Chan Center from April 28 - 30, 2023. He gave an overview of what the Three Refuges and Five Precepts in Buddhism for an audience of practitioners who participated in the ceremony of taking the Three Refuges and Five Precepts.
Born in Keelung, Taiwan, Ven. Guo Dong has had a rich and varied career in Buddhism, including serving as an attendant to Master Sheng Yen and directing various departments within the Dharma Drum Mountain organization. Most notably, he was four times elected as the Abbot-President of Dharma Drum Mountain from 2006-2015. With his open-mindedness and pleasant temperament, Ven. Guo Dong uses insightful adages and witty language to encourage people to cultivate a mind of purity.
