The topping is like 3 or so years older which basically answers most of your issues with it in the beginning, I'm curious to see what an updated version looks like, as i hope it would have a balanced outputs etc. Also with K11 people have to be wary of the output impedance of the headphones especially on the balanced headphone out...
I'm also looking for a configuration for competitive games like valorant and cod on my topping dx3 pro +, I have available a hd560s, TT crinacle blue, moondrop aria snow, dunu titan s. I would like to try a configuration with better spatial sound, the sound of louder footsteps with a good sense of distance and direction, as well as lower gunshot sounds.
In terms of the filters, have done a tone of testing with the FIIO K11 and believe the best spatial audio and directional awareness comes from using either (4) Slow roll-off, Phase-compensated filter and (6) Non over-sampling filter. I have been testing with the following headphones (Truthear Crinacle Zero Red IEMs, Sennheiser 660s2, and Beyerdynamic DT 900 Pro x Rated in this order from best to worst for Call of Duty MW3 and Warzone. This is my opinion following lots my own testing and preferences. 4 - Very wide and precise sound stage with good imagining, verticality. excellent for both FPS, Music and critical listening. 6 - Similar to 4 in terms of sound stage, imagining and verticaliy and other points mentioned, but with some slight roll-off of the highs but very natural sounding. 5 - Flattens the frequencies response across the audible range so not as dynamic sounding, but performances well in terms of imagining and distance, maybe a little tighter in terms of width compared to 4 and 6.. 1 - Wide stage with good distance but less precise and muddy in terms of exact positioning 3 - Somewhere in between 1 and 2 not ideal 2 - Good directional audio, but with a much tighter sound stage making the sound stage congested and harder to determine exact proximity of sounds. 4 and 6 offer the most spacious sound stage with excellent directional audio. I hope this helps and saves some time.
I'm interested in the xDuoo Mt604, but until now, despite watching several videos and explanation, I'have not fully understood the topic of balanced/unbalanced headphones and amps. I know you are not supposed to connect unbalanced headphones to a balanced amp, but I do not even know what that is supposed to mean. When I put an adapter on a pair of balanced headphones with either XLR or TRRS 4.4mm, bringing it to common a 3.5mm TRS or the more rare unbalanced 4.4mm TRS, does this still short-circuit the amp? Edit. Oh, and wouldn't the xDuoo Mt604 also require a dedicated DAC or something, cause it's a preamp, not a DAC/amp combo, which i can directly connect to USB or the soundcard of the pc?

I looking to buy a dac amp for gaming but I don’t use a gaming headset I use headphones and a usb/xlr mic which at the moment I just plug my headphones straight into my mic. How do or can you use a dac to use my headphones and microphone. Audio newbie sorry for the long question
I have a k eleven and schiit magni 2 , I tried a bunch of different ways to connect them together.But still been unsuccessful.I don't know anything about optical input Maybe that's what I need the k11 only has line out rca so still trying to figure it out , they're both dac amps I'm pretty sure so does it even make sense 4 me to connect them together? I was just thinking it would give a little bit more power if they worked together because I have them both sitting there. Or if it's a waste of time maybe I should just not do it and sell one to purchase something like a pre amp or other compatible stack style device , what do you think ?!? Thanks
I find my topping to be really fatiguing and a bit sharp with the highs in some situations, looking for an alternative how does the K11 handle that area? thanks! more for music less for games.
I dunno man, I think the K11 may still make things spicy and fatiguing if your current set is doing that already. I would try a tube amp tho, might help
I recently bought fiio k9 and the highs were sharp that is why I'm sending it back. Used it to these 4 headphones: dt770 pro, dt 990 pro, hd600 and hd650 and the highs were quite sharp and fatiguing overtime.
Hey mate about to pull the trigger on the 490 Pros! My main use will be gaming and FPS games like call of duty. If you had to pick from there DAC/AMPS which would you choose? where I am there all about the same price. I have fallen on either Topping DX3 Pro+, FiiO K11 or the Zen dac v3 appreciate any advice :)
The DX3 Pro+ will produce closest to the true sound, while the Zen Dac V3 will color the sound the most. I haven't used the K11, but it's really all down to personal preference.
Ive had the sound blaster and i can truly day i hated them för gaming. Im using dt 990 pro x and had the ifi zendac v2 and was satisfied with that. Now looking to pick up the pro + instead for just some more juice.

For iems do these desktop amps improves sound over the best dongle dacs or do these more powerful desktop dac/amp only make sense for high impedance headphones ? Thanks
I genuinely think it’s really difficult to tell the difference between these and the dongle unless you’re really tuned in to audio for gaming at least. I use the apple dongle and I think the best you can do is tune the audio using an equalizer and then something like soundlock to deaden some of the really harsh sounds in competitive games. The reason I was considering the K11 honestly is just to have a dedicated volume knob and a question that wasn’t answered, to easily switch the output from speaker to headphones, not sure if that’s something these do
Nice video but when did we stop talking about bass and trebble? Is the sound low and bassey? With piecing high trebble? What the hell does colourful mean in sound? This video isn't for your average gamer it's for Autiofiles who want to be some upper class art snob. Thanks for the technical info though.

IMHO Fiio BRT17 made these amps obsolete, unless you have a hard headphone to drive but 650mw of brt17 is a lot!
