Last Thursday I discover a rat in my house. That day I bought 2 bags of Rat X, a Victor kill Rat trap, a live mouse trap (just in case). I setup the traps with peanut butter plus a live rat trap I had, scattered some Rat X, and setup the cameras. The rat was careful and smelled the traps but stayed away from them. Then on Friday it took just one pellet of Rat X. On Saturday I found the rat outside barely alive. I disposed of it humanely and set the body outside to see if an opossum would take it. Only ants wanted it. Problem solved!
I'm very surprised that the skunks rejected the gopher. I thought only moles were persona-non-grata. The flickers are one of my favorite birds. Thanks for showing them.

I work in the animal removal business. I didn’t even know victor made these gopher traps. Will definitely be trying them out. I’ve always had the most luck setting 6-10 macabee-style pincher style traps within their tunnels- to good effect

i love these traps. I had to wear surgical gloves after washing my hands and rub tomato leaves from my garden (strong odor) on trap and hands to get rid of my scent. I had minimal success unless I used this method. Also, stick a wad of tomato leaves in the trap -- it is like crack for gophers! I killed many, but never enough. There are always more down there.
My buddy had pocket gopher problem. Finally he had enough, so he took out the acetylene welder. Then dug out the mound, put the rosebud tip down the tunnel and ran the gas down for a minute, then hit the starter. You could see the ground jump above the tunnel, 20 or so yards. Problem solved. Used to do that to tunnels in viet nam too.
my mom had my old metal lunchbox from when I was a kid. Said she looked it up and it was worth like, $1,000. But that was a long time ago. I looked it up and found one in much worse condition than mine. Mine is pristine, still has the thermos, and the glass inside the thermos is NOT broken. The Munsters. I'm glad she gave it back to me. Still upset she sold my beautiful green Schwinn banana boat seat bicycle.

I knew a guy that had a horse that would chase down wild rabbits and eat them. Also heard of a an island over in Europe somewhere that the deer will eat baby sea birds.

i think moles voles and gophers look and smell fairly different from mice and rats, that's probably why they don't eat them. maybe you could try to skin then or just open them up so they smell like meat and blood, that would probably at least attract a fox, a coyote or something.
gophers are easy to catch, I was doing it when I was 11. All it takes it identifying the main hole and escape holes (As many as 3) and finally 2 5 gallon pails of water.
If a gopher would eat invasive plants, maybe you'll let it live, Shawn? I see it really did a job in your field, because you know... that field was looking so sharp before.
I will never use those traps (they look pretty efficient, but i won't have any problemn like that one), but i still watching your videos because you are carismatic and i like your voice 👍

Been trying to catch a woodchuck with a have a heart trap with no success. only getting possums and raccoons. any suggestions? doing a lot of damage.
