Interesting finally hearing a 100% correct version. Makes me realize every single version I’ve heard since this has forgotten the breath marks and some other stuff Makes me wonder who made the first midi of this piece, and how
@@marisa-yu4oz fym “obviously” just play it? The original piece was on literal paper piano roll on an ancient player piano. How do you get from that to a standardized midi sequence?
Dear Sebastian-Flore, Actually -- there is a video of 2 human pianists playing probably 95 per cent of the piece. More feasible with three -- with a slightly reduced tempo.
@eddyvideostar I can imagine one trying to take up the challenge, but I would say that surely only 10% of the notes would be played! Looking at the human pyramid canon/fugue and that ending in particular is terrifying stuff...
It was written by one of the greatest classical pianists. It’s cool and interesting, but it’s not that out there compared to classical music of the last 55 years.
As a piano teacher and performer, I am addicted to the Circus Gallop… I always laugh at the insane amount of technical demand this would pose to perform, although it’s definitely doable on four pianos for 16 hands. Also, I love M.A. Hamelin’s sense of humour, he is hilarious and has a very sympathetic character if you watch interviews with him.
@@Viktorvelat95 It's probably doable on two pianos eight hands, or maybe even seven or six hands. Edit: Probably three pianos actually, sorry. But can definitely be done with four people.
This and QBIC's version (the one that the composer himself said was correct) sound really different to me for some reason, maybe it's just because this one's a MIDI
There is a triplet in the last bar, but it sounds different to me. Is this your musical expression or did Keyscape render it that way? Anyway, thanks for a nice upload!
The final triplet must be played on a "G clef", but for more than ten years, the MIDI in which the final triplet was played on F clef was prevalent. According to the composer, Marc-André Hamelin, this is one of the most well-known mistakes in MIDI of Circus Galop, which made he a bit upset...
@@Yubin_Lee_Doramelin Thanks for the explanation! I just didn't word it right, but I was referring to the rhythm. It doesn't sound like an exact triplet, so I was wondering if this video is the most 'accurate'. It does sound natural, though.
@@nibitas Whoops, sorry for misunderstanding! I read only the first sentence at the top... Yes, there are two possibility that the VST could delay the sound output, or the MIDI maker deliberately put the rhythm like that. In my humble opinion, VST couldn't stand this complex classical player piano work. I attempted to play it by Garritan CFX but my RAM reached its limit very quickly...
For the 4k resolution, I say thank you. But it seems to have become a classic: *hesangasong* never has the video in full screen mode, black bars are always present
This video is 16:9 which is typical for youtube video. But you’re correct in saying there’s always black bars for most of my other videos because I use 4:3 ratio for those which tends to be more compatible with mobile viewing experience

obviously they just played it and had notation software record it for them.
Dear Catseye06: It's 2024 now.
It was Marc Andre-Hamelin, and it's meant to be tested on player pianos as a test of the ability.

ah, the arrangement that i first found your channel from! cool to see it once again, great work updating this one :D

This must've been annoying to typeset, nice work 💀 So glad that I came across your channel, your arrangements and compositions are inspiring
The last page having "the fatal accident" written on it is so funny 😂
Excellent!!! Next, I would like to hear this played by an entire concert band!!!
The zaniest composition I've ever heard.
This piece inspired my composition final in 2014
Wow, he really made sure this couldn’t even be played on two, or maybe even three pianos...

From what I know there’s a video out there of someone doing a cover of this with the parts individually overdubbed
Somehow, somewhere, The Five Browns have heard and accepted your challenge 😂
Excellent!!!!! This is so funny!! I can't stop laughing!!!

I once saw a comment from Hamelin himself being sad that his piece is always wrongly played (the recording on spotify is a correct one too)
beautiful typeset!
Seems fitting for this song to receive a software update

I think this song is what got me into mathcore
I wanna orchestrate this for a small ensemble any tips
Anyone up for an orchestration of this? 🤪
Dear Fortemusic: It's been done. I'll link it to you.
The purpose of the piece is for a player piano cobweb cleanout.
@@eddyvideostar I have also had a go at orchestrating it as well. It might not be entirely impossible to play…
