I just started piano lessons last November at 57. My grandson started 2 years ago at the age of 6. My grandson is my go to when I'm confused or stuck. I've always wanted to learn but thought I was to old. You are never to old to learn something new. My older grandson heard me say I was coming home from piano lessons and now the is starting to learn piano. The way that you and others play is why I wanted to learn. Music brings me such joy.

Many pianists can memorise most of their pieces entirely off by heart with enough practice. I personally play all of my music from memory as I simply prefer it to sheet music. What I find incredible are the pianists who can sit down and play extremely complex pieces first time by reading sheet paper or musicians, guitarists are especially fascinating, who can listen to a song once for the first time and play it back exact. Crazy stuff.

What makes a musician good is if they are able to take a moment of your time, and give you something in return, not to show off or gratify their own self importance, but to tell a story. With passion they convey emotion, and in that moment you feel as they feel, and without a single articulation you realize they understand you. So, unless you are tuning your piano to 432 herz, it will NOT sound as the original, for it is not even a half-tone difference.

I have a very cheap keyboard I play sometimes. Honestly...it was easier to jump back in to playing it than I thought it would be.
I will never be a proper pianist or keyboardist...yet I can definitely play the instrument in some form.
The difficulty is hand separation imo(and muscle memory of course, yet that is the same for every instrument). Guitar has a form of hand separation, yet it is definitely different because one's hands on guitar often link up heavily somehow. On piano, you need to truly separate the logic of left hand and right hand, and you perhaps need to use your feet in some way (sustain or staccato pedals, counting time, etc)

I love how its the ones you least expect that turn their chairs and attention to let the music flow into their souls like a river flows into the ocean adding to its diversity and ultimately saturating all it touches. Just stunning. Absolutely breathtaking
