    Needed this reminder. Last year, in February, I decided I was going to see table toppers, and fix table clothes to fit my table each month. It was part of my healing process from dealing with loss. It wasn't much but seeing my dining room with new decor each month made me smile every time I walked thru the room. Which was constant because my dining room connects all the other rooms in my house. I had planned on creating pillow covers for my living room throw pillows for each month. Again, I just need things to brighten my life and stop dwelling on my losses, at least for a little while.

    My sewing goal is to use up my existing fabric to make myself clothes that fit me well and that I feel good in. I have so many patterns and so much fabric I just need to get to work

    • @ThoughtfulCreativity
      @ThoughtfulCreativity  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Same here regarding the fabric - been working on it for a few years! I think we can do it, I also sorted my fabric recently and gave away/gifted what I know for sure I won't use for different reasons! It is better if other people get to use!

    I have set a goal to work on growing my sewing at least 1 hour a day 5 days a week. I hope to do more than that, and most weeks I do, but one hour a day is the goal. I count learning a new skill by looking at tutorials or reading dressmaking books, pattern drafting also counts,so not all of it is hands on sewing. I started this a few months ago and have learned many new skills and honed what I really want to work on.

    • @ThoughtfulCreativity
      @ThoughtfulCreativity  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Liz, this is inspiring - exactly! Not everything needs to be hands on by the sewing machine, since a lot is learned from observation, but I love what you said about 1 hour a day! And... You have seen progress - that is amazing!

      After listening to this video I came up with the same approach, a hour day so I can complete a project in a week. And being motivated by my why is what I’m hoping will do the trick!

    Great video!!!! My goals: not focus on making a whole quilt, but to focus on making a block daily. Then the blocks will all come together to make the quilt. I also have a goal to teach my daughter more about sewing. She loves trying to hand stitch. We could sit together and learn together for 30 minutes a day.

    I loved this video! I started doing this last year. It began with getting the house cleaned. My physical decline made it difficult to clean it all in one day. So I have the goal to get the whole house done in 2 weeks. Each day I clean a different room. It has been such a blessing. I also did it with my sewing. Joined a Facebook group to complete a sewing project each week. Sometimes it is only mending, or something really small, but I made it last year and sewed something every week last year. It works people!!!

    • @ThoughtfulCreativity
      @ThoughtfulCreativity  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Susan, great to hear that! And... you don't have to have a goal, maybe an idea or an outline? Some people do better with an approximate idea of what they want and some do better with a concrete definition!

    The Road map is a great suggestion. Will work on tht.
    I read in the comments by someone saying her goal is to sew min of 1 hour a day ..
    That is something i have been trying to but haven’t been able to build that habit yet.
    I will try and work on that and I hope to feel proud if my sewing journey by end of 2021 ..

    • @ThoughtfulCreativity
      @ThoughtfulCreativity  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      That's awesome! And it is totally possible! 10 items breaks down to about 1 garment per month! About the top, yes, if you type in "bishop sleeve too tutorial" on TH-cam - you will see my top tutorial in first 5 search results or so.

    Totally off subject...but do you do anything special in order to use your serger threadsppols in your Singer sewing machine?

    • @ThoughtfulCreativity
      @ThoughtfulCreativity  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hello, hello! No, I just put the big spook in an empty, clean coffee cup next to my sewing machine and then thread it like normal. I have heard some people use straw cups the same way, just remove the straw and thread your thread through it. I hope this helps :)
