1 Tim. 2:11-12 says: “A woman should learn in quietness and full submission. I do not permit a woman to teach or to have authority over a man; she must be silent.” If Paul says that I'm pretty sure he meant it. So I guess their not Christians. They could convert to some other religion or just become atheist because they don't believe the Bible. That alone disqualifies them.

I wonder, why specifically are women not allowed to become priests? I have met wonderful women priests and criminal men priests before. The first woman to ever exist, Eve, was made out of the first man to ever exist, Adam. Women and men are made of the same thing. Technically, women are an extension of men, therefore, by extension women should become priests as well.

@@keagaming9837 Same here, maybe the one gender who sinned would have been sent to earth? But god didn’t see them as man and female, he seen us as humans. Another thing is that Jesus could have also sent the one who sinned to hell, because there’s no point in putting them on earth because they wouldn’t reproduce and sustain the earth of humans. If they both hadn’t sinned, I would believe that the future of humanity would either all be living in Eden and we would all be family, or we just simply wouldn’t exist. It’s kind of weird because there’s so many different takes on what could happen and most of them make sense.
We women have so many gifts to share. We need more opportunities to use those gifts, even in leadership roles, but we dont have to be priests to do this.

Look at her calling the Church “the institutional church” as a pejorative. She is egotistical and when you realize this, it’s easy to see what their “fight” really is about

I'm sorry, you might have the desire to become a Priest, but you simply can't. It is not the place of us mortals to overturn what has been established by the Lord, he didn't lay his hands on his women followers. That doesn't make them lesser to the men, the most important non-divine human figure is the Blessed Virgin who is obviously a woman.; it simply means it isn't God's will to have women priests for whatever reason he has so ordained (pun not intended)

Is this not an Epistle of the same chap named Paul who people of a similar opinion to you call a sexist for his saying "women have no place to lecture in Church" (which, as proper understanding reveals, is not actually sexist). I'd be perfectly willing to deem this passage, as well as the passage that follows in Romans 16:7 as one requiring debate if it wasn't for the fact that there has never been any mention of priestesses in the Early Church. To go back to the passage itself, the operative word is "διάκονος", Diakonos. It refers to someone who happened to be a Priest in about 10% of its use in the Bible, this would not evidence one of those cases. I'm sure you'll notice the derivation of the word "Deacon" from this word and believe that women can become Deacons, to which I have to inform you that Diakonos refers to a "Deacon" in only a further 10% of cases within the Bible. In the vast majority of instances where the word "Diakonos" is used, it refers to "a person who ministers", which can easily refer to a preacher or server, perhaps a nun.
I'm sorry. You don't have it right at all. Jesus did not at all "lay hands" on male followers. Jesus did not 'establish' a church. The honor goes to Paul -- who never even knew Jesus personally. Not only was Jesus a practicing Jew, no one believed that Jesus was God when Jesus was alive. No one believed that Jesus had risen from the dead after he died. The Gospels (and there were MANY Gospels) weren't begun to be written down until after Paul completed all his Epistles (approx 70 AD), and some Catholic NT experts think that The Gospels weren't begun to be written down until 100 AD -- about 70 years after Jesus died. It is thought (by some) that The Gospels that we have today were written to coordinate with Paul's Epistles. Oh -- and The Gospels were not written by Matthew, Mark, etc. They are thought to have been written by "The Community of Matthew", etc. Even if The Gospels had begun to be written down in 70 AD, it is thought that Matthew, Mark, etc., were already dead by 70 AD. ONE LAST THING: One of the reasons that only men are Apostles is because women, in Jesus' time, weren't even considered fully human. In fact, The Church itself wouldn't think of women as fully human until sometime between 1200 AD and 1500 AD. Sorry -- I can't remember exactly.
@@FrancesRobinson-yn2ks To say Jesus didn’t lay his hands is to prove to me that you have yet to read the scriptures you intend to lecture me and the 2000 year old church on. There are several instances of the laying of hands for different reasons. One is found throughout the Gospels as Jesus blessed his Apostles with the laying of hands, a tradition they carried on to new believers in confirmation and to their successors in the Episcopate. To say that nobody believed Jesus was God during the time of Jesus begs completely the question why he was crucified. Why was it that the Jewish authorities sought the punishment traditionally reserved for claiming to be God after Jesus claimed the ability to forgive sins (something reserved ENTIRELY to God), or when he claimed to be the Alpha and the Omega, or when he said that he is eternal in saying “Before Abraham was, I AM”? I ask you this very simple question, why was he executed if not for claiming divinity? On the idea that nobody believed Christ rose from the dead, I ask two questions: on one, I’d ask what you have to say about the First Epistle of Saint Peter; and for the second, I’d ask what you have to say about the martyrdom of the Apostles. The First Epistle of Saint Peter, which was undoubtedly written by Peter (seeing as the first real objections to this came in the 1700s with the advent of a new school of Biblical criticism, and seeing as it was attested as being written by Peter from the very first mentions of the book), says “Praise be to the God and father of our LORD Jesus Christ! [another claim of divinity] In his great mercy he has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead”, are you seriously going to say that they didn’t believe he rose? I further this on mention of the martyrdom of the Apostles: if they didn’t believe Christ rose from the dead, why did they die to testify that he did? The only logical possible explanations of the martyrdom are either that they were all duped or all insane, or Christ truly did rise from the dead. You’re not saying you think they’re insane, you’re going against every possible logic to say they knew but died for a laugh. The Gospels (all FOUR of them) were written within a hundred years of the death of Jesus Christ. Decent scholars date Matthew to the late 50s to the early 60s AD and John to the 70s-90s AD for example. Saint Paul was martyred either in 64 or 65 AD, by which time the Gospel of Matthew was almost certainly completed. The earliest manuscript we have is from around 100AD, and it is a clearly not an original and is amongst many (hence the estimation that the original was completed some time before). As for these scholars you speak of, I’d rather like their names. I do have to say I get rather tired of atheist (and other) apologists claiming unnamed Christian scholars said random things. Again, on your claim it is believed that they were written by the “community of Matthew”, I’d like the names and works of tenured scholars. I’m sure you’ll understand why I prefer that over the snide and sarcastic remarks of an anonymous TH-cam figurine. The Gospel of John, for example, declares that it was written by “The Disciple whom Jesus Christ loved”, and the Epistles of Paul testify to the original authorship of the Gospel of Luke (again also giving credence to the fact that the Gospels were completed long before the absurd estimates of your lot). I don't care who said it -- it's not true. And let's go back to the foundation: no one -- to date -- has ever proven that a God even exists (I think one does -- one that is beyond our comprehension -- however, I owe my belief that there is a God to all the science courses that I took in college -- in my 40s -- I do not owe it to The Church -- not by a long shot). So until we can prove that there is a God (and it is CERTAINLY not The Christian God), everything we say about God is simply our imagination.

Men and women are not equal because they are not the same. A lot of people will say "I only mean that they are of equal value." But if God loves us infinitely, how could "equality" mean anything?

It is not about sameness at all. Can a man have 18 orgasms in day? I used to do this routinely. But the questions is whether or not having certain sex organs disqualifies someone from the priesthood. It could be viewed that women are especially well suited to the clergy as they tend to have superior verbal skills.
This is not about discrimination, that’s the way our Blessed Lord instituted the sacrament of priesthood, our Lord is a man, so priests are men.!. Our blessed mother Mary is our model as women, she is the greatest creature created by God after our Lord Jesus Christ. God gave us different roles, it doesn’t mean that we are superior or inferior, we are different, but equally important.!. The most important is to be faithful to God. We should be humble and obedient to our holy Catholic Church. It’s also important to take serious our eternal life and the salvation of our souls. Don’t get distracted with earthly things. Our life is so short compared with eternity.
The teachings of Christ are what is to be studied and followed, not the dogma of the hierarchy of the church. Mary Magdalene was Jesus’ most evolved follower. Jesus lived in a time when women were 2nd class citizens. Jesus himself did not take on that philosophy. It’s taken society 2000 years to come as far as we have: which is still not full equality, especially within the Catholic Church. Other denominations are head and shoulders ahead of the Catholic Church.

However, she and the other wonderful women followers of our Lord Jesus Christ including our blessed mother Mary, were not present at the last supper. There, our blessed Lord instituted the sacrament of the Eucharist. This is not about who is better, winners or losers. The Holy Catholic Church is the only true church, it is the mystical body of our Lord Jesus Christ, we are not allowed to change anything, not even the Pope. “Women to become priests“ is not church teaching. When we think we are too big or too intelligent in order to accept the true teaching of our church, then unfortunately we are walking the wrong path. After our baptism we are all (men and women) called to be priests, prophets and kings, to bring justice and love, to spread the good news, to be the one who speaks for God, not just in words, but by the way we live, and to bring the light of Jesus Christ to the people around us and to the dark world. It is important to highlight that Judas (the betrayer) was also present in the last supper, meaning that we will always have Judases in our Holy Church, the good seeds are growing together with darnel weeds, but nothing will destroy our church. This is the promise of our blessed Lord Jesus Christ. We should pray for Holy Priests and for the conversion of sinners and be holy just as Jesus was holy and we are called to be.
Even the Spanish lady in favour of women priests says it's a "completely different" ministry. My church (Church of Scotland) allowed women ministers in 1968. It had 1.1 million members beforehand and that has now slid to 270,000. Optimistically, it may stabilise at about 100,000. When anyone walks through the door, the first thing they see is - here is a church that has no problem doing the opposite of what it clearly says in scripture. There are other factors at work, but the view that membership would expand with a greater preaching role for women has not been borne out.
@@MiaLuigina The purpose is to speak truth, not keep up to date. The idea of a national church is an issue in Britain - one churchman blesses u-boats, another the planes sent out to sink them - so they can't both be right - though that long pre-dated the decline. Then there is multicultural Britain - when we "celebrate" Christmas - that Christ is come - and then Ramadan - that he is not come and Mohammed's apostasy is the final revelation - so that a child sees in a year that the adults don't really mean what they say. There are issues of faith being passed on in families. There is the rejection of natural theology of theology in Karl Barth. And I could go on...
Well i for one would not attend a church with a female priest, Yes they have the right to be ordained if that is what they want to do, and i also have the right to attend a church not run by a woman, hence i have not been to a church of my usual denomination since 2001 and instead attend a Roman Catholic Church, Everyone has free will and choice when it comes to religion
@@karintate Men become priests because they are chosen by God to fill the role of Mediator between Him and the people. For those truly called it is not about "man power trip." Christ chose 12 men as apostles, and that is the precedent for men as priests.
@@Reject_Modernity-qj4gl That's not, though. The argument that Christ chose 12 men as apostles and therefore only men can be priests is not really in line with the Gospels. First, Jesus had to choose 12 male apostles in order to qualify as a rabbi. That is the old order. It was before his death and resurrection, after which the old order was replaced by a new order, in which we are all - male and female - baptized into the priesthood of all believers, and in which there is neither male nor female, slave nor free, Jew nor Gentile. To adhere to the old ways is not doing justice to the world that Jesus ushered in, in which established hierarchies are toppled, and a new kingdom is established.
Women wanting to be priests is not about heeding the authentic call of God; it is all about satisfying their wants. Their call for 'inclusion' is not Christocentric, but egocentric. It is about them. We Catholics and other Christians must understand that the priesthood is not about one's self, but always about God. And the reason why the priesthood is exclusively for men is because on the night he was betrayed, at the cenacle, our Lord Jesus gave his mandate to the Twelve who were, after all, men.

If you met me 5 years ago, I would've said we might be in the end times, but now I am not sure. No one will truly know when the end times will be, and from all the things I have been through over the years, I can confirm that things can get MUCH MUCH worse societal wise. Women priests are not a bad thing, but men who are pedo****** are, we must determine if someone should be a priest or not by if they are a good or bad person. Also, for all we know the end of the world and the rapture could happen when everything seems perfectly normal. Strike when nothing seems like it could go wrong, that is the best time to strike when everyone least expects it. Yes for all we know it could happen tomorrow, or it could happen in 1,000 years. Only God knows the future, only he will 100% know for sure.

Even when those who don't reconcile with his church, remain in a state of grace and follow his will, will still curse God as they burn for all eternity, God will still be thinking of them. We separate ourselves from God when we sent him/ won't forgive our brothers/deny him/support and condone sexual immorality/abortions/ liars/and refuse to defend him as saviour and Lord.
Maybe sexual violations of young children and woman would decrease with women in the position of the Priests… just sayin’ I was raised Catholic, married and converted to the Lutheran faith. Our daughter attended seminary and is a Deacon and a very hard working deacon with a family. There was a time when men ruled everything. It appears the good old boys club does not want women as an equal. Then they no longer have absolute power. Believe me. There are some older male members that would be more comfortable without female Lutheran Pastors. One male member of the congratulation said to my female Lutheran pastors while pointing to her pregnant tummy, “I hope you are going to be able to cover that up!” Oh, he said that to the wrong pastor whose husband is also a Lutheran pastor. She made a formal complaint to the church council.

A woman cannot be a priest. It's a Sacrament of Holy Orders. All these other religions broke away from the Catholic church because some person disagreed with Catholic teaching and allowed women ministers. They are misled and are wrong. All the ceremonies these women perform are invalid. They cannot celebrate Mass, baptize, or confirm anyone. God gave women a role, but these women don't want that role. The evil one is whispering lies into these woman's ears...giving them a false reality. Only a man can become a priest...as only a woman can become a mother.

Ummm, those are denominations... not full on other religions. Also, most protestant denominations don't allow women to be priests, which is quite sad since how someone was born is able to determine if they are eligible to become a priest or not. I have met intelligent women who cannot become priests because they are women, but I have also met pedo***** men who were able to become priests with no issues whatsoever, how the way this boggles the mind. People dismiss women all the time, overall it seems like women don't have nearly as much say in the church as men do, even though women can be just as insightful and as good as men. I don't think this is an issue of whether women can become priests or not, at this point it becomes a question of if women should get the same respect as men. Fighting for female ordination is simply fighting for excommunication. St. Paul was obviously using the word in its literal sense, not its ecclesiastical. 'Female Deacons' did exist in the early church, but only to assist in the reception and catechizing of females. Most especially in the administration of Holy Baptism (which was done naked). While 'Female Deacons' were involved in a ceremony of appointment, it was not and has never been viewed as the same as an ordination to the 3-fold Holy Office. Even if the Church wanted to 'ordain' women, the Church could not because the 3-fold office of ministry instituted by our Lord Jesus Christ was designated only to men.

If a female believes God asks her to become a priest, then she should convert to a faith that allows female priests. The Anglican Church allows female priests. The Church of Sweden allows female priests. Convert and do your best in the church to which you convert! The simple fact is that the RC doesn't want them. So why do they want the RC? The only one who did was the apostle to the Gentiles, Saint Paul, formerly known as Saul of Tarsus. I personally think would be no wrong in allowing women into the priesthood. I wonder, why specifically are women not allowed to become priests? I have met wonderful women priests and criminal men priests before. The first woman to ever exist, Eve, was made out of the first man to ever exist, Adam. Women and men are made of the same thing. Technically, women are an extension of men, therefore, by extension women should become priests as well.

I'm sorry, you might have the desire to become a Priest, but you simply can't. It is not the place of us mortals to overturn what has been established by the Lord, he didn't lay his hands on his women followers. @@Fenix.1111 "Servant of the Church" doesn't mean priest or priestess. Is this not an Epistle of the same chap named Paul who people of a similar opinion to you call a sexist for his saying "women have no place to lecture in Church" (which, as proper understanding reveals, is not actually sexist).
I'd be perfectly willing to deem this passage, as well as the passage that follows in Romans 16:7 as one requiring debate if it wasn't for the fact that there has never been any mention of priestesses in the Early Church.
To go back to the passage itself, the operative word is "διάκονος", Diakonos. It refers to someone who happened to be a Priest in about 10% of its use in the Bible, this would not evidence one of those cases. I'm sure you'll notice the derivation of the word "Deacon" from this word and believe that women can become Deacons, to which I have to inform you that Diakonos refers to a "Deacon" in only a further 10% of cases within the Bible. In the vast majority of instances where the word "Diakonos" is used, it refers to "a person who ministers", which can easily refer to a preacher or server, perhaps a nun.

The Gospels (and there were MANY Gospels) weren't begun to be written down until after Paul completed all his Epistles (approx 70 AD), and some Catholic NT experts think that The Gospels weren't begun to be written down until 100 AD -- about 70 years after Jesus died. It is thought (by some) that The Gospels that we have today were written to coordinate with Paul's Epistles. Oh -- and The Gospels were not written by Matthew, Mark, etc. They are thought to have been written by "The Community of Matthew", etc. Even if The Gospels had begun to be written down in 70 AD, it is thought that Matthew, Mark, etc., were already dead by 70 AD. ONE LAST THING: One of the reasons that only men are Apostles is because women, in Jesus' time, weren't even considered fully human. In fact, The Church itself wouldn't think of women as fully human until sometime between 1200 AD and 1500 AD. Sorry -- I can't remember exactly.

There are several instances of the laying of hands for different reasons. To say that nobody believed Jesus was God during the time of Jesus begs completely the question why he was crucified. The Gospels (all FOUR of them) were written within a hundred years of the death of Jesus Christ. Decent scholars date Matthew to the late 50s to the early 60s AD and John to the 70s-90s AD for example. Saint Paul was martyred either in 64 or 65 AD, by which time the Gospel of Matthew was almost certainly completed. The earliest manuscript we have is from around 100AD, and it is a clearly not an original and is amongst many (hence the estimation that the original was completed some time before).

You can’t remember the exact date the Church recognised women as fully human because there never was a time they recognised them anything other than fully human, made in the image and likeness of God, and equal recipients of the love of God. The teachings of Christ are what is to be studied and followed, not the dogma of the hierarchy of the church. Mary Magdalene was Jesus’ most evolved follower. Jesus lived in a time when women were 2nd class citizens. Jesus himself did not take on that philosophy. It’s taken society 2000 years to come as far as we have: which is still not full equality, especially within the Catholic Church. Even the Spanish lady in favour of women priests says it's a "completely different" ministry. My church (Church of Scotland) allowed women ministers in 1968. It had 1.1 million members beforehand and that has now slid to 270,000. Optimistically, it may stabilise at about 100,000. When anyone walks through the door, the first thing they see is - here is a church that has no problem doing the opposite of what it clearly says in scripture. There are other factors at work, but the view that membership would expand with a greater preaching role for women has not been borne out.

Also, most protestant denominations don't allow women to be priests, which is quite sad since how someone was born is able to determine if they are eligible to become a priest or not. I have met intelligent women who cannot become priests because they are women, but I have also met pedo***** men who were able to become priests with no issues whatsoever, how the way this boggles the mind. People dismiss women all the time, overall it seems like women don't have nearly as much say in the church as men do, even though women can be just as insightful and as good as men. For a long time when I was little, I wanted to become a priest. I am sad that all of my friends who are girls who want to become priests someday are not allowed to become priests. :(

Fighting for female ordination is simply fighting for excommunication. Our Lord Jesus Christ, despite His unprecedented approach to women and their dignity, never made any woman an Apostle, even His Immaculate Mother or Mary Magdalene. Only the Apostles were made priests during the Last Supper. They themselves and other future priests who have the apostolic succession, are ordained in the image of Christ the Eternal Priest, in whom the words of the Exodus were fulfilled: "The lamb must be a year-old male and without blemish." He was truly an unblemished and male Lamb and so the priests are called to follow His example. Never in the history of Church were women ordained to priesthood and they will never be. God simply didn't grant the Church the power to ordain women, even if some heretical bishops perform the rite over a woman, it's an empty gesture, nothing happens except from mortal sin and excommunication latae sententiae. There's no such thing as a call to priesthood for a woman, it's the tempting of satan disguised as a pious desire. If anyone claims the Church is wrong and the know better what Jesus said it didn't say, it's pride - the source of all other sins, a sense of superiority over God. It once made the devil being cast out from heaven and now he uses it against us. The popes always supperted the only truth about female "priests" as a heresy and St. John Paul II used his papal infallibility to dispel any further doubts on this topic - ordaining a woman to priesthood is IMPOSSIBLE. There's no discussion with the will of God, one can act against it but it will lead only to hell.

@@bulbakingdoot3514 If you're throwing that verse out with the intent to suggest that female ordinations to the order of Deacon (or any Holy Office) is an ancient and Apostolic practice, you should really read it in context. St. Paul was obviously using the word in its literal sense, not its ecclesiastical.
'Female Deacons' did exist in the early church, but only to assist in the reception and catechizing of females. Most especially in the administration of Holy Baptism (which was done naked). While 'Female Deacons' were involved in a ceremony of appointment, it was not and has never been viewed as the same as an ordination to the 3-fold Holy Office. Even if the Church wanted to 'ordain' women, the Church could not because the 3-fold office of ministry instituted by our Lord Jesus Christ was designated only to men.

If a female believes God asks her to become a priest, then she should convert to a faith that allows female priests. The Anglican Church allows female priests. The Church of Sweden allows female priests. Convert and do your best in the church to which you convert!
The simple fact is that the RC doesn't want them. So why do they want the RC? They must convert to another type of faith.

@@samuelbcn Jesus never spoke against women priests, even though his apostles were male, he never spoke against women priests. The only one who did was the apostle to the Gentiles, Saint Paul, formerly known as Saul of Tarsus. I personally think would be no wrong in allowing women into the priesthood. I also have no problem with the thought of priestly celibacy coming to an end, or having that be voluntary. But keeping two certain groups of people out of the ordained priesthood is only holding the one holy Catholic and apostolic Church back. If you don't like what I have to say well that's your opinion. But I am not afraid to make my opinion known.

Anyone can quote a bible, the meaning does not translate according to your whims and fancies. A deacon in translation at the point of time is leadership, which does not make her a priest. Does not mention that she can or did perform the act of consecration of the bread and wine. If women have been allowed to become priests, Jesus would have done so by putting Mary Magdalene instead of St Peter! Women can be leaders, yes, you are called to serve. I am saying it's blasphemy because these groups of cultist claim to do the work of God but the representation of God, Jesus is misleading, diverting people from the truth, from the teachings of the bible, of the Holy Catholic church. I have no problem if women are appointed as Church's ambassador to other nations or such high leadership positions. As a matter of fact, Church should appoint Catholic women of good standing to such positions. I strongly believe some of them would do much better job than some clueless archbishops. But as priest, I will have problem accepting.

Anthony, from my point of view they are not listening to Satan, nor are they persecuting the church. All these women want to be is members of the priesthood. And no matter how much the Holy Father tries to close the door in their face I think that these women in the Roman Catholic women priests movement, will continue to grow in numbers. Do you know what happens when enough people are pushing up against a door? Let me tell you this... The door eventually gives way or is broken down. Now don't take this to mean that I am rejecting God and by that I mean our heavenly father, or his son Jesus, or their companion the Holy Spirit. I will never turn my back on God, and I will certainly never stop being Christian. And I will try to remain Catholic if I at all can. But The Church must adapt. Eventually we may have to dispense with what is said by Timothy, and with certain parts of canon law. Otherwise I fear we may have another schism, in this case the American wing of the Catholic Church breaking away from Rome.
Jesus selected 12 JEWISH men as his disciples. Why aren't priests required to be Jewish? At any rate, I think converting to Episcopalianism is the best route.
