Church of England ordains first female bishop, protest

- (26 Jan 2015) The Church of England consecrated its first female bishop on Monday.
The Reverend Libby Lane became the eighth Bishop of Stockport in a service at York Minster.
Her consecration comes after the church ended a long and divisive dispute by voting last year to allow women to serve as bishops.
The Archbishop of York, Dr John Sentamu, led the service to consecrate Lane, which was briefly interrupted by a man shouting, "No, not in the bible."
Sentamu simply moved on.
Dozens of bishops gathered around Lane, laying on hands and offering a sign of solidarity.
Lane was ordained in 1994, one of the first women to become a Church of England priest. Her husband is also an Anglican priest.
The 80 million-strong global Anglican Communion, whose members range from conservative evangelicals to supporters of gay marriage, has long been divided on the role of women in church leadership.
The Church of England's national assembly, the General Synod, voted for the measure in July after a previous attempt two years earlier had failed.

There is evidence of female clergy in the Bible. Romans 16:1.

samuel kho women have been in ministry since the days of the early church. The forbidding of certain groups of women (the Corinthians mentioned in 1 Cor. 14, and the Ephesians mentioned in 1 Timothy 1-3) were only a small group. Paul mentions and commends women in ministry in Romans 16, pastor Prisca (aka Priscilla in Acts 18, 1 Cor. 16, 2 Timothy 4), deacon Phoebe, and Apostle Junia are some examples.
God doesn’t care about gender, He cares about ones heart, Biblical Orthodoxy, and obedience!
If women or men start teaching things contrary to Sacred Scripture (like permitting homosexual “marriage” in the church), then they are not truly called by God.

Lol. Abesses are Bishops in the Roman Catholic and Orthodox Catholic Communions. They are not ordained so cannot perform Sacraments because in the 6th century Christians became fixated on the ritual purity of the Sacraments and banned even priests from sleeping with their wives 24hours before Mass. Eventually they banned women and men who were married from Ordination. Monastic Women could however hold office as Deacons (Sisters), Presbyters (Nuns ) and Bishops but without Ordination. It was later relaxed that married men could be ordained to the Diaconate and Priesthood but under no account the Episcopacy.
Anglicans have relaxed rules on Clerical Marriage so why not Women's Ordination. My only reservation is the female habit should resemble that of female religious rather than male clergy

Being confirmed as EPISCOPALIAN is *the best decision I ever made in my adult life* I implore you, don't "dis", chastise, rebuke, or berate my opinion in any way. I am FERVENTLY tired of religious fundamentalism, and *old-school Catholics are tantamount to religious fundamentalists* Progressive Catholics are not as offensive as old-school Catholics, but I'd rather *avoid* Catholicism 100%.
Avoid the Catholic Church and you avoid God and the joys of Heaven. Outside the Church there is no salvation. Your female "clergy" are no better than pagan witches. The Anglican Communion will be dead in a few years anyway.

Looking further back, the Prophetess Deborah - the leader of Israel whose story is subject to significant elaboration at Judges 4 and 5 - stands out in the Old Testament as a spiritual leader clearly and repeatedly exercising authority over men, completely undermining the notion that God never chooses women for such positions.
When all things are considered, I must begin to wonder how sustainable the traditionalist position is in light of Scriptural criticism. In my view, the traditionalists have as many questions to answer as the liberals, but are doing a worse job of it because they're so convinced (as a glance at other comments on this page will tell you) that anyone who disagrees with them is a heretic.

By the way, the KJV is as inaccurate of a translation as the Non Inspired Version (and that’s just based on the OT alone, Acts 12:4 is one translation error in the KJV NT translation). Yes I did insert pastor before her name, however the evidence is quite clear as is the evidence of Junia being an apostle, and Chloe being a pastor in a house church (1 Cor. 1:11 “by them that are of the house of Chloe” indicates Chloe being the leader of the house church).
