Listening to question period in the House of Commons is so trite. When our leaders speak out they do it as if no one had ever said those words with so much pomp.
But here I get the sense it’s two individuals having a conversation. Even if one of them is the prime minister and a millionaire. I’m not gonna vote for him but it’s good when the leader of your country speaks like this. It’s like Harper in 2013/2014, realizing it’s probably his time and he’s just gonna lay it all on the table just so can’t say he didn’t try.

I agree partially but you can't discount some of those events from the problems that the entire western world is experiencing right now as they have definitely contributed to the current situation. The pandemic obviously created an economic slowdown and the war in Ukraine has had an impact on food prices. Ukraine was a relatively significant producer of agricultural goods (wheat, sunflower oil, etc.) to the global market, and the war has caused production to decline significantly.

@@hawksm2783 I also "partially" agree but Canada emerged virtually unscathed from the world financial crises of the 1990's because after Canada was threatened with intervention by the IMF for indebtedness the Liberal Chretien/Martin government went on a years long mission to put Canada''s finances back in order which the Harper Government maintained.
This time we are experiencing inflation with the rest because like the rest Trudeau went on a massive spending spree doubling Canada's debt with the PBO saying fully one third of the spending was non-pandemic related not to mention Trudeau increasing the size of the Federal Government by 40% since 2015.

He is so hard to listen to. He has failed miserably. She is asking all the right questions but you can tell he is well rehearsed in what he is saying. His home accelerator plan is 1 1/2 years old and the first deal has just been made in London ON. What he is saying iare things he should have been dealing with for the last 8 years because we all knew, except him, that this was coming!! So few people are eligible for the $10 day care. Very few young families are eligible and they have 2 children and both are working and scrapping by to make ends meet. On top of that, many women have not been able to go back to work because there wasn't any daycare spots available for them to do so! This government goes on and on about childcare but in the real world we know it's a failure. Grocery stores are not making record profits! They are making 2% - 4% per year. Their revenue has gone up because groceries are more expensive therefore more money is coming in. There are 1 million plus more people in the country to feed. This is such a manipulation of the information. What is that called??? Misinformation or disinformation. I can never quite figure out what that is but they are definitely 2 of Trudeau's favourite words! LOL! So so much of what he says is so ridiculous!

Give us a break! I've never voted for Trudeau - but Conservatives accusing him of being unqualified and disconnected from ordinary people is the height of hypocrisy! Poilievre is the most unfit and unqualified party leader that Conservatives have ever put in front of voters. He's been a rabid right wing ideologue since he was 14, and the sum total of his real world experience outside the political realm before entering politics at age 25 - was doing corporate collections over the phone for Telus - *that's it!*
Poilievre is a millionaire career politician who's been gorging at the public trough and serving the interests of elites for *19+ years* and qualified for his full taxpayer funded lifetime pension at age 31. This guy is completely disconnected from ordinary Canadians.
Poilievre pretends to care about working Canadians and about the housing and affordability crisis and yet voted 3X against building affordable & low income housing - voted 2X against minimum wage increases - and voted against dental care for children from low income families - when he himself has had taxpayer funded dental care for 19+ years! Let that sink in!
Conservatives have no track record of standing up for working Canadians - they have a long track record of delivering for their Bay Street buddies over the people! Just look at the recent party convention in Quebec - Conservative delegates elected lobbyists for major oil, pharmaceutical, real estate and anti-union companies to nearly half of the seats on the Conservative party’s top governing body. A grassroots movement within the party to exclude lobbyists - was quashed!
Don't be fooled - Conservatives aren't working for ordinary Canadians!

I do understand Y he’s bringing them in (or at least the reasons given) but when Sooo many are already living on the streets ~ and MANY MORE ARE ABOUT TO AND WILL BE ON THE STEEET ~ … and NOT DUE TO ANY SORT OF ADDICTION) but due to the government ie: no rent control, not enough affordable living, double the cost of rent, had to chose between mortgage/rent and food, etc etc.
This problem needs to be addressed while he puts his immigration policy ON HOLD 🛑🛑🛑✋!!! It’s a state that he created and it can never get better all the while he brings in more ppl!
Plain and simple do 1 thing and stop bringing them in. Then Get ppl who are homeless proper housing ~ long term and not shelters ~ another one of the problems as we need a PERMANENT HOUSING SOLUTION and not shelters.

Why is the price of food increasing, it is driven by the main culprit the Federal Liberal Government. Carbon tax on farmers to grow our food carbon tax on trucking to delivery supplies and food additional fuel tax for truckers carbon tax for retailers to keep food cold or hot heating stores increase payroll taxes, cpp & ei, for employers to pay in addition to wcb Carbon tax to increase in April 2024 Then you wonder why grocery is prices are so high.
    Brian Cousins
Very well said, I farm for a living, and we are being faced with the most expensive year yet to produce a crop. This is just about the stupidest bunch of so-called leaders I have ever seen. He creates inflation with taxes and the bank of Canada has to put up interest rates to try to control it. It's a double edge sword.

Is he ever! He has been delinquent in his duties and now he is making it about other people. The Liberals are constantly talking about consulting, studying, complications etc. etc. There he goes again talking about the complexity of the world we live in. He has a group of people that are common people elected by common people and not experts in any of the ministries that they are in charge of. That's why they can't make decisions and course corrections. They haven't got the expertise or the wherewith all to do so.

Finally some actual journalism from this state funded entity. A welcome change from the endless panel punditry and sparse lobbing of softball questions to the people who are supposed to be working for Canadians. Major kudos to this interviewer. One small step towards regaining some credibility as a news and journalism outlet who’s function is supposed to be to question and hold government to task on behalf of its citizens. While I find this snake difficult to listen to, it’s been fascinating to watch him pander, deflect and squirm in that chair. This guy is a complete narcissist who would be a dictator if he could.

15% vote for 1 party they like... 15% vote for a different party they like... 30% vote for the "lesser of two evils" or a 3rd part option... and around 40% of the voter base does not even bother to vote because they don't see anyone they like.
