Honestly it's more obvious than it sometimes looks. We downloaded the area on OSM maps and that has the route on it. There are also several others on the trail that you can follow :)
Great video! You have inspired us to tackle this hike without guide or porter also. I’m fairly confident that barring any altitude issues, we’ll be able to manage the hiking portion, but am a bit worried about how/when to book the flight to Lukla. Did you arrange this well in advance? I am super nervous about making the trip to Kathmandu and not having this flight locked in ( and not being able to get a flight). How did you do this? Thanks in advance for your input 😀
The good news is that we didn't book in advance. We booked it 3 days before flying. But we did have to push our trip back by one day to get the flight. And this was at a time when Kathmandu domestic airport was under renovation so we had to drive 3 hours into the mountains to a random airstrip. It was both awe inspiring and vomit inducing. I think that there are a few different companies that can help you book the flight. It's very expensive so if you can line up your dates and book in advance that will help you. Good luck.and safe hiking! ☺️☺️

Hi, I loved watching your video - thanks for posting it. I’m planning on a solo trek to EBC in November and my only concern being a solo traveller is staying on the beaten track. If there were no other trekkers around is the route easy to follow? Especially higher up?
It is always very easy to see the track and it is often signposted. We went at the end of may and there was barely a moment when there wasn't at least one person in sight.
Nepal was incredible. Such great people, prices and scenery. Because the trek took so long to prepare for and do, we didn't get much chance to see all of Nepal. But what we saw was really nice. More videos to come. 😀
The journey has been so great Nepal is a very easy country to be in. Everything you need is convenient and the people are just great! Would definitely recommend! 👍
It's called a buff and it protects us from the sun, keeps you warm when you get higher and most importantly keeps the dust out of our lungs! We went at the end of May and it was great weather!

Hey Rob & Jenny congratulations for this amazing trekking. I would like to do this solo trekking. Will it be safe for solo if i wont take a guide. Or what difficulties i might face? Thanks
A lot of people do it solo. The most important thing is to give yourself enough time. Extra days for the trek. This is because it is hard to know how your body is dealing with the altitude and you should take time to acclimatise as much as possible.
Very amazing video! Sorry but the website of your EBC packing list is currently unavailable.. My wife and me are planning to do this trekking on our own too and we want to prepare very good for it! Thanks

The flight to lukla was the most expensive thing. The prices may have changed but it was a few hundred pounds each for that. The accomodation and food was very cheap (and very basic) along the trail. All in all we probably only spent about 40 dollars a day between us for the trip.
Hey. No experience needed at all. Just enough time to take your time and not over work yourself against the altitude. Total cost for us was only about 500 pounds for the whole two weeks I think. Check out our website for more details. Robandjenny.co.uk

About guides and porters: there seems to be some kind of misunderstanding about the role of a guide when hired for an independent trek (not a fixed group). Guide is not there to boss you around (unless you let him), he is a fixer, interpreter, helper, consultant, cultural/nature/history teacher (in ideal case), contact to local culture, even a friend. I have walked Himalayan trails for almost a year in total since mid eighties, always with a guide & porters, and never has the guide told me where to go and when. I make all decisions. Naturally if someone wants to turn him/herself into a lamb that is also possible. Not me.
@@TClubbyCalicutColumbus1998 yes, but this can actually be confirmed on the way There are two checkpoints which you need to pay for a permit to continue along the route. More details are in the blog (see video description) if that helps 👍 Let us know if you decide to hike!
Hi, Hope you guys are well. This video was absolutely fantastic and you guys did really a good job. Will you suggest me.. can I go for EBC trek as a solo traveler ? without guide how much the cost will be for EBC trek? How can I get permission for EBC trek & from where? I must say, this video is so much inspiring for me. I wanna go there. Stay safe guys. Thank you so much...💖
So glad you enjoyed!! We actually wrote 2 blogs with loads of details which I think will answer your questions, link is in the video description. In short though, this is 100% possible for a solo traveller!
We think we saved a lot of money!💲 Probably cost about half as much as if we had gone with an organised trek. There are upsides to taking a guide+porter though if you can afford it! 👍
Great video. As an experienced hiker I STRONGLY suggest you DO NOT attempt without a guide and porter unless you are an experienced advanced treker. Odds are that you'll survive but it is a foolish risk. Many people get sick, regardless of fitness level. I did this trek plus Lobuche Peak in December 2019. Have fun, be safe, be smart. A Sherpa can save your life. A porter will make trek more pleasant and reduce chance of injury.
Thanks for your view. Having done it independently, I would say that a guide and porter is definitely not necessary, and as long as your are sensible and follow the well known advice you would be fine. The only people we saw have issues were those in groups with a guide because they were forced to keep up, even though their body wasn't ready. I think a guide and porter can definitely enhance your enjoyment, but it depends on who you are and where you get your sense of achievement from.
@@RobandJenny Thanks for your reply. I like to lean toward the more conservative side when attempting something new. With the knowledge I gained on EBC in 2019, I'm confident I could do it independently. The two of you are young and healthy and prepared properly by doing proper research before the trip. I just wanted to avoid encouraging a first timer that thinks it's a walk in the park without some serious potential risks. I actually went on a solo trek, just me, a Sherpa, and a porter. I wouldn't want to go in a group for the reason you mentioned. Pace is very important and being slowed down or forced to rush would be a drag. The two of you have a great synergy. Also a great talent for video, editing, and making it flow so the viewer can enjoy a pleasant journey with you unlike a boring technical documentary. Wishing you both all the best in your future adventures!

Very amazing video! Sorry but the website of your EBC packing list is currently unavailable.. My wife and me are planning to do this trekking on our own too and we want to prepare very good for it! Thanks
Hi! Sorry for that. This link should work: robandjenny.co.uk/index.php/2019/07/04/everest-base-camp-trek-packing-list-and-shopping-guide-ebc-independent-trek-2019/
Will try to fix the other link as well! 😀
Love it ❤
Hi Rob& Jenny
How much did it cost to be on top without tourist guide???
The flight to lukla was the most expensive thing. The prices may have changed but it was a few hundred pounds each for that.
The accomodation and food was very cheap (and very basic) along the trail. All in all we probably only spent about 40 dollars a day between us for the trip.

@@RobandJenny than k you so much

End of may, early June 👍
Do we need any permits during the trekk ?
Yes! But you purchase them en route, it's very clear and simple :)
Super sir....wt is the budget Sir...plz tell me...I want to go there
Check out the blog link in the pinned comment where we give all the details 😁

Amazing.

I love you guys!!!
Thank you! Thanks for the lovely comment, you made us smile 😊
Can I know bro that need any experience for climing base camp?
And tell me total cost with climbing gadget. Tnx
Hey. No experience needed at all. Just enough time to take your time and not over work yourself against the altitude.
Total cost for us was only about 500 pounds for the whole two weeks I think. Check out our website for more details. Robandjenny.co.uk

@@RobandJenny Tnx bro.
Can climber see the green boot dead body when the climbing from north side?
I think that's only something on the trek up to the peak.
@@RobandJenny Tnx bro.
Not me.
Hi. How much hour u walked in a day
It was different every day! Some days as much as 7+ hours but one day it was only about 2!
Is there any permission needed to hike
@@TClubbyCalicutColumbus1998 yes, but this can actually be confirmed on the way
There are two checkpoints which you need to pay for a permit to continue along the route. More details are in the blog (see video description) if that helps 👍
Let us know if you decide to hike!
Thank you for your support. Am glad 😊
Awesome journey 🤘☕

Stay safe guys.
Thank you so much...💖
So glad you enjoyed!! We actually wrote 2 blogs with loads of details which I think will answer your questions, link is in the video description. In short though, this is 100% possible for a solo traveller!
Omg so beautiful my tears come from my eyes seen this .
Aw thank you! Genuinely the most beautiful places we've ever been.
What an adventure! 😃
Well done! 😃
Thanks so much 😁
Sorry I don't understand
Sawagat cha 🙏🇳🇵
Stay safe
Wow

What do you think how much money you saved without Porter and guide then people who take porter and guide?
We think we saved a lot of money!💲 Probably cost about half as much as if we had gone with an organised trek. There are upsides to taking a guide+porter though if you can afford it! 👍
I will put a post on our blog about the cost breakdown too.
@@RobandJenny sure! Would love to know about your budget breakdown!!!

With the knowledge
I gained on EBC in 2019, I'm confident I could do it independently.
No guide, no porter so what. Ebc trek is sign posted like central London streets.
We aren't saying we're special. Lots of people do it! But we found videos so useful to inspire us when we were worried we couldn't do it so we made one ourselves to prove to others it's possible and straightforward.
Crossing the Khumbu Glacier without a guide is pretty reckless
I love my nepal🇳🇵🇳🇵🇳🇵🙏🙏
It's so beautiful. Probably one of the best parts of our year.

I thought it was great that you didn't take a porter or guide and could set your own pace.
It made it for us, it really did. I think it's possible for anyone to do it themselves!
