      If you have a property survey done you can just make a copy an use that as Google not accurate

    Thank you! We have bought a house in France (we are a Dutch couple) and measuring the (large) garden is a bit of a challenge. Your tips and tricks makes it easier.

    I enjoyed this. something I learned surveying years ago. If you want to from a 90 degree or perpendicular angle. stand on a lie point your hands in both directions ,close your eyes put your hands together. open your eyes you have just made an exact angle.

    Actually I've used Google Earth pro to design parks and village squares while using the elevations that program provides to lay out existing grade lines on the site. Quite useful system.

      You can use the Gis … look up the address… then screenshot … then you have a reference… plus it has the utility line marks to an extent…

    Thank you. I usually import into Auto-Cad but this is a useful way to do it.

      It's not accurate you would need the property survey

    I love this feature but usually, I will still measure by hand to ensure that everything is accurate give or take

    Google maps has not been updated on my home in over 3 years....

  • @siliconvalleylife2.048
    @siliconvalleylife2.048 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    Those measurements aren't accurate.
    I actually had a client argue that the Google measurements were more accurate than the tape measure we had right in front of us...it was '3,000 square feet off.

    • @NinjaTenK
      @NinjaTenK 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Like I commented it would be easier with the property survey

    • @siliconvalleylife2.048
      @siliconvalleylife2.048 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@NinjaTenK that's very true. But the easiest way is to just measure it on site. Most accurate and most convenient.

    How to do this for new property in new build area when maps are still not updated?

    • @Localscapes
      @Localscapes  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      On a new build, you can get a "plot plan" or "site plan" from your builder or your City building department. Builders must file this information in order to obtain a building permit. You'll be able to start with all the measurements already done! Make sure they provide not just the lot plan but how the home is situated on the lot, preferably with any easements included so you'll be able to plan around easement requirements. All properties have easements but not all easements are in use.

      Use the property survey

    Where did you get this paper from?

  • @loganlife328
    @loganlife328 ปีที่แล้ว

    You are better off going to your county's parcel map viewer. All the measurements are there for you.

  • @tmac1660

    This works great, except the print. When I print all I get is a tan rectangle...not very helpful.

    • @Localscapes
      @Localscapes  6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Are you using Internet Explorer? If you use Chrome or another browser it will likely work better. Let us know if that does not solve the problem for you. Alternatively, you can check your County Assessor's website as they also have parcel information. The quality of that data will vary by county but it's worth checking.

    • @Localscapes
      @Localscapes  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Try it on the satellite view instead. Sometimes the property lines don't print well. Frustrating I'm sure.
