@@packisbetter90 Schrader got Jr in lots of trouble with his old man it seems lol sneaking him alcohol when underage and such, at least according to the podcast. IDK about Dale hanging out with Gordon but I know they respected each other
I had the opportunity to talk with Rusty Wallace about him and Earnhardt's prank wars. He told me about the time that Earnhardt filled up Rusty's driver side With sardines underneath the driver seat. And Rusty got him back by taking his steering wheel and nobody knew he had it until moments before the race started.
One of my favorite NASCAR memories happened at Bristol in the mid 90s and involves Rusty, Dale, and a water bottle. I'm sure the footage is on TH-cam if you don't know what I'm talking about. They were great competitors on the track and (usually) great friends off the track.
Rusty and Dale were fairly good friends off track. I was a Rusty fan and hated Dale's guts. When they got together at Talladega and Rusty flipped HARD, I came unglued, until I saw Dale stop to check on him. That showed that he had class. After watching the replays, it became obvious that it wasn't intentional like I initially assumed and that it was "just one of those racing deals" as Dale put it. I still rooted against him, but actually hated him a little less after that day.
Talladega was bad, but it was made worse by the freking putting green grass expanse in the infield. Should come as no surprise that by the time Dale had his big wreck (triggered by Swervin Ervin) at Talladega, that area was all paved.
really? I'm a professional mx racer so I have respect for everyone and I HAVE NEVER HATED ANYONES GUTS I DIDNT KNOW. To hate someone for no reason that you don't know is pretty low and if you love NASCAR you can thank Dale for that because he was the man that brought back entertainment to the sport. don't hate or judge.
I heard a story, not sure if it’s true or not but it goes like this. Rusty was at Dale’s House having a couple of adult beverages, he had a new truck and went out and did donuts on Dales front lawn. Not to be out done, about a Week later , Dale went over to Rusty’s house with a Bulldozer and proceeded to tear out Rusty’s entire front lawn!

Nascar did die the day dale died. Once dale died nascar changed everything cause of his death. Made shitty race cars and all of that. I wish they made a good race car with good safety. Not good safety and boring races. Dales death started nascars spiral out of control. Dale was the leader. He may not of been the owner of nascar but everyone listened to him. He made the whole sport go around. Dale basically ran nascar. He told them when to make changes and told them is the changes are necessary. He is the reason they held on to the rock till 04. He’s the reason something like the chase wasn’t added sooner. He kept the sport going. Once he died nascar made all sorts of changes dale didn’t allow. Dale wanted the yellow line to stay. Right after his death the yellow line rule came in. A little later the chase came in. A little later the cot came in. They got rid of the rock. Got rid of the second Atlanta date. Got rid of the second Darlington date. Everything fell apart till what we have now. Nascar 100% died when dale died. Now it wasn’t right after he died that nascar died. But his death caused all of this years down the road. Slowly his death caused what we saw today. If dale didn’t die I feel like nascar would be healthier than ever. Nascar would be just what everyone wants. But since dale had to die this is what happened. If I could have a time machine I would bring him back 100%. I would bring a ton of people around nascar back but that’s besides the point.
