    Andy "aTrippyFarmer" Dole is a 6th generation farmer from Central Illinois. On this farm, Andy works alongside his father, Marty, his uncles, Chris and Jeff, and his sister, Katie, to grow corn and soybeans on some of the finest dirt in the world. Andy and his family are deeply rooted in the area, operating a large farm that traces it origins back into the 1800s. Although some tracts did not stand the test of time, Andy and his family still grow corn and soybeans on fields that have been in the family for longer than even the oldest members of the farm have been alive. We do, we have, and we always will take tremendous pride in calling this piece of paradise our home. Andy was a Bronze Tablet graduate of the University of Illinois in the field of Crop Sciences, following the same path as his father and late grandfather.
    It would be misleading for Andy to claim that this life is one that came by chance; rather, as a member of two multi-generational farm families, it was simply in his blood. His passion for agriculture traces back to his early youth--some of his fondest, earliest memories being of days spent riding in the combine with his father and grandfather. Although his understanding of the lifestyle was much less complex in the beginning, the love he has for farming, and its industry has only appreciated through time. As this dream blossomed into adulthood, Andy now works relentlessly, and tirelessly, to chase his own dreams and to build a farming operation of his own alongside his family.
    We, as a whole operation, are handymen, electricians, mechanics, landscapers, accountants, economists, caretakers, stewards, and, most importantly, farmers, and we take an incredible amount of pride in our work. There is no challenge too overwhelming, no situation too stressful, and no problem too difficult for us to take on, and we want to take you along with us. Welcome to our farm and welcome to our lives. You have the best seat in the house to watch the everyday chaos of farming unfold--we usually only get concerned when things aren't going wrong!

    Thanks for the commentary about older equipment Andy, I manage to raise some 200+ bushel corn in southern Illinois with my old Massey Ferguson tractors and 8-36" case in air planter.

      I stand by that. New equipment is great for cool features and productivity, but final yield has nothing to do with the equipment it was planted/maintained with.

      Right you. Are, I definitely enjoy keeping up on the latest greatest technology. , but in a way farming with old stuff is easier,. Like I'm pretty sure I won't screw up the look ahead settings for my old early riser planner monitor. Lol

    Wish you would have shown the older tractor and planter. You're absolutely right, well cared for and properly operated equipment can and will do a good job regardless of age.

    For the flat tires, maybe it's coming or not, but could the machinery conceiving teams think to add TPMS valves in the tires so that right away you would see from the cab if your tires are low? That would help

      Deere doesn't offer anything like that standard. It probably wouldn't be hard to buy an aftermarket system for a very reasonable price.

    Not a farmer...but why would you need to replant after a rain? Do the beans actually get washed out?

    • @aTrippyFarmer
      @aTrippyFarmer  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      A hard rain can compact the top crust of the soil making it very hard for the soybeans to break through without injury. Saturated soils can also kill the seedlings if it is prolonged. There are a few bad things that are possible with large rains.

    I have a question. I see on the drone shot that in the field there is a stroke of gras. Why aren’t you make that also farm land? Looks allot easier then driving around it. Sorry for the question I don’t have much knowledge of farming 😅

    Don't you have to clean the road of you make it muddy? Here you could get a fine for not doing. Funny is that people get mad if you don't, but when you do with shovels and such, they don't even slow down a bit.

    • @aTrippyFarmer
      @aTrippyFarmer  ปีที่แล้ว

      I've never heard of someone getting in trouble for leaving mud on the road unless it was huge gobs of it.

    Andy... I have a question that may seem stupid but here goes. Why do ya'll have to buy new corn and soybean seed each year? Could you retain some corn and soybeans from the previous years harvest to replant the following season? I'm assuming it only takes one seed of corn or soybeans to produce hundreds of new seeds from each plant. I don't know how many soybeans a single plant can produce, but based on my fading memory of when my uncle farmed in central Iowa each corn plant had anywhere from 3 - 5 ears of corn and each plant and a ear has what maybe a hundred kernals of corn per ear. Does each variety of seed pull different nutrients from the soil thus why you vary what is planted each year? I'm just guessing since my time visiting my uncles farm was when I was 5 - 6 years old and I'm 70 now.

    • @stevenk7934
      @stevenk7934 ปีที่แล้ว

      The typical corn plant has one ear with 14-20 rows 40ish kernels long. Most of the big seed companies make you agree not to replant it. It wouldn’t work with corn but could be done with beans.

    Stop eating your nails. Get some sand-paper or a sanding-sponge & rub off the dead-skin & unwanted nails, using your mouth(my assumption) is nasty[though I apologize if I'm inaccurate but the nails look chewed to the flesh]. I'm studying cesspit people(outdated sewage-people [people stuck in the 1970s]), so I look at the nails & for bright(irritated)-pink in-between fingers.

      Chewing on my nails is one of my worst habits. I've done it my whole life, and I haven't had much luck in stopping.
