I have got myself a nice Cabin in the Woods just outside of Aviemore, Just nice warm and dry with the basics is all I need.
So I will be heading out into the mountains into the valleys looking for ptarmigan mountain hares red deer and any other wildlife I may come across one of the hard things to find will be the crested tit, these little birds are often found on their own, and do not like the company of other crested tits, as when you may see them you will notice that they're chasing each other away and only like to be on their own.
I could of course pay to go and, photograph the crested tips at a hide location but I much prefer to do my wildlife photography out in the wild exploring and finding the wildlife in its natural environment.
I have used hides in the past don't get me wrong when you're struggling to find a a picture of a particular animal or you just want to get some photos of a particular bird or animal then I think hide is acceptable to do that but when you're going out and creating wildlife videos and adventure and exploring then finding it out in the wild I don't think there's anything better than that.
So that is what I'm doing this week I have spent many hours scouring the Internet reading other people's blogs and adventures on their trips around the Cairngorms of Scotland finding wildlife and I've noted down a few vague areas that I will be going out and exploring and hopefully finding some wildlife but also finding locations for me to go back to in the future where I can spend more time on my own on a one to one basis with just me and the wildlife, and this is what this trip is all about.
So follow me on this video and Part 2 where I explore the Cairngorms and found the wildlife that I have come here to photograph.

Watching your films in the freezing cairngorms whilst I'm in Antigua photographing the diverse birds here. Such wonderful images, film and commentary. Thank you
haha lol don't get sunburnt 😎, hope you're having a great time over there, have you managed to see the Frigatebird
Good tip about the lens hood and warm air. I'd never considered it.
Lovely video, its an awesome place thats for sure. I spent a wonderful week their last winter. Certainly got me interested in those filters👌 roll on the next episode.
Very nice video once again Ashley, another bucket list place to try and visit, so many great places and so little time 😀 looking forward to Part 2.
Absolutely brilliant photography
All your preparation, travel, hard slog, concentration, just everything, has been rewarded in this wonderful video.
What a blessing for us who will never see such beautiful sights in the wild: deer, white hares, red kites, ptarmigan...
Scotland looks magical through your lens, Ashley, thank you so much. (We will be looking into those KF magnetic filters.)
Thankyou Joan, yes it's certainly was a fantastic week out in the Cairngorm mountains, yeah and those filters certainly do make a big difference on bright sunny days, and with them being Magnetic just makes it effortless and so easy to use.
Simply stunning vlog. Class stuff Ashley 😎📸
Great video again - looking forward to part 2 😊
Great images
Lovely video again
Enjoyed that Ashley!
Top vid loved it 👍
I’ve only been on the Cairngorms tops once and unsurprisingly in total whiteout. I was proud of my achievement of walking a bearing for 1km with 20m visibility and hit the summit bang on.
The best bit was getting into Orange survival bags and thundering down the Ski Run back to civilisation.
I had my first ever digital camera with me, but a Nikon Coolpix 885 did not cut the mustard with the hare and Tarmigens I came across.
Great work
