Happy New Year everyone and thank you so much for being the most fantastic, encouraging and positive audience. If you want more muskoxen, check out this guy - Gunnar Dresler: th-cam.com/video/rt6z9WTEfzE/w-d-xo.html He has also been on Dovrefjell, and I like his approach to the animals and the way he respects nature. He obviously puts a lot of effort into making his films and he deserves a much bigger audience. Check him out please:)
Well, I don’t even know what to say but thank you, Morten. For all the inspiration and all your work. I guess it’s my biology background but also people like you that have a big impact on how I want to treat wildlife. This video makes me scared of the winter up there, but I also would like to try it… with the right gear and mindset! Cheers 🙏
You're such a lovely person, Morten. Your photography is gorgeous, and I'll always treasure your magnificent book, but I would happily watch your videos just to witness the landscape through your eyes and your genuine, unfettered love of its pure, raw, grandeur.
I will never get to see wild musk oxen. They were one of the first animals I knew about as a child from a book. This is very wonderful to me. Thank you.
Dear Morten, I just wanted to say how emotional it is watching your incredible film. Your storytelling, scene setting, your joy at being in such a beautiful place and most of all you care for what your creatures you are filming is second to none. We saw the kind of logistical help some filmmakers have. You produce and present this to us on TH-cam on your own. Incredible. Thank you for every second of your effort.
And mark, pay heed, these videos and the picturesque places you visit evoke the feeling of renouncing the city life and embracing the life of silence in nature. Keep up, brother. We admire your work here.
Morten, Before I start to watch your video, I click on the 'like' button so that I don't forget after being mesmerized by your content. That's the reputation you have created for yourself. Thank you.
Morton, simply amazing. The pictures you got were stunning. The care for the well being of the animals is great. I, like others have said, cannot believe videos of this quality are on TH-cam. These could very easily be NatGeo. Thank you for allowing us to see you adventures so we can get a feel for what it might be like.
Awesome work!! I'm 55 and now unable to walk. So today I did some macro photography in my garden, and now it is time for a fantastic adventure with your video!
Dear Morten, I'm Jacopo, i'm 17 years old. I am also a photographer, I follow her for about 1 year, I have seen many of his videos, and i could say that for me her is the best nature and landscape photographer on the face of the earth... keep it up, I love it.I hope sooner or later to be able to meet her in person.
Man, I‘m so happy for you that you are in a place you love, doing what you love. And I‘m happy for us, that you share these videos with us, letting us experience the beauty of nature. Thank you, Morten, once again.
Hey Morten, My wife and I have been watching your videos together. We are both really enjoying them. Spending most of my life in Canada’s Yukon, I learned to love hiking and exploring in the back country. When I met my wife many many years ago, we began to share that experience together. This video was awesome because we could imagine exactly how you felt in that beautiful winter land. The fact that I am also an avid photographer just adds to the enjoyment. Anyway, we wanted to say that we really appreciate your down to earth videos. Definitely one of my favourite photography channels. Thank you.
Very nice, a new video. I've just come from outside. I took some photos and made a TH-cam video. Now I'm relaxing in front of the fire and watching your video. The beginning is already promising! You're a good role model. 👍🏼😉 Wishing you all a great start to the new year. Keep up the good work and be who you are. I'm very excited to see what you implement this year on this wonderful channel 🙂. Greetings Max
Thank you for sharing your journey really enjoyed watching the Musk oxen . When you were feeling the cold all I could think of was heated pads and flasks of coffee 😂
Like how is this a thing?! You are so crazy… I can not wrap my head around the effort it must take. 1camera capturing amazing animals 1 camera filming your journey… it’s like watching two Oscar movies at once! Thank you for this
I'm amazed by the great footage and quality of the muskox. I'm watching it in 4k and it's so clear, its incredible. Thanks again for enabling the rest of us enjoy your adventure and witness the amazing wonders of God's creation.
Can't wait for episode #3. Don't think I could handle the cold but I am right there with you in spirit! Nothing is more satisfying than a great picture especially if it's yours.
Imagine going to take this kind of photography with such gear, in such extreme conditions and then still be able to film it for us in a great way, from different angles and distances and go home, edit it all, tell a story and share it!!! Mind blowing 👌💪 master level!
@@MortenHilmer keep them coming - also the vlog style ones you did. Norway is my dream country and exploring all the Scandinavian countries in a van is a big goal, so it's amazing to watch your videos also cause of it 🙏🙏
Morten, what a joy to see this. Anyone who has ever been in more or less harsh outdoor conditions gets a sense of recognition. Mind you, I say more or less, because these are extremes. Your military background is essential to undertake this type of activity or someone must have internalized it in some other way. The joy of finding the animals-in your case, the Musk Oxen-is also recognizable. But the same rewarding/sensation is there, for example, when the Badger shows itself after you first find the castle and then you have to do all the work to: first, not disturb the animal, second, be prepared to wait a long time and to make good recordings when the Badger shows itself. So well thought out that occasionally standing up shows you're there, so the Musk Oxen are aware of your presence. What I also like is to resist the temptation to put yourself in a better position. The only time I take someone with me I get annoyed that that person wants closer and closer, that's why I go alone from now on. The images of the Musk Oxen and especially the young ones are so beautiful, it brings tears to the eyes. It can be seen that you are really cold and having a hard time, but you want to use every minute, which I think is great, but also dangerous if you don't have the experience to be in such conditions, luckily you have more than enough experience. It's a fine line between being very cold and hypothermic, then there's a serious problem, especially if you're alone. I look forward to the next videos, fantastic to watch and above all educational and motivating. Thank you so much.
Morten, this is another exceptional documentary of an amazing and beautiful species and the habitat that supports their continued survival. Thank you for sharing your personal insights and experiences in such a creative and inspiring way!
Holy cow Morten - of course I’m ancient, but I could never have pushed through those elements to get the images you were persistent enough to get. Thank you for bringing us along with you. Getting those photos/videos must have been difficult enough, but filming yourself doing it, setting up, walking away, then returning to retrieve your equipment, added a great deal more difficulty to your work. Lastly, your respect for and knowledge of the animals is evident. We’ll done.
Beautiful as always, you truly are the best at conveying the feeling of being there in those wonderful places! And the small muskox has to be one of the cutest things I've seen!
Beautiful animals, in a beautiful setting combined with excellent music. I commend your tolerance of a very inhospitable environment to bring this to us. Thank you.
Dear Morten, at my home, on a Sunday evening, under 22'C warm, I felt the minus 20'C deep in to my bones. You have reflected the complete atmosphere in to us. Your sipirit and dedication are certainly inspiring to anyone people no matter what they do. What a great footage and efffort. You stayed almost a half day staying still under such atmosphere. We are so thankfull and I appreciate all you did and doing. All the best for the new year. By the way, I can wait for the next sunday to see the third episode.
I’m glad to be here watching rather than there, my bone marrow is freezing just watching. Amazing to see the effort you put in to get some amazing pictures. Cheers buddy.
Hej Morten, fellow Dane here. Been watching your nice videos for a while now and you are basically doing everything I wanted to do, specially the Svalbard trips🙂 Great stuff all of it. But you gotta watch you back carrying all that heavy equipment. I carryed simular big backpacks for years and I was sure that it was not a problem until it suddenly was. 3-4 years ago I started getting several diskusprolaps/discherniation / discus problems in the lower part of my spine. Today at only 49 years old I still can't carry a large backpack again and I may never be able again. So please take good care of your back. It's really something to look out for. Anyway, happy new year and keep up your excellent work🍀👍👍🙂
Beautiful and so peaceful to look at Morten. Your dedication and hard work is second to none and your passion for nature spills out of the screen. Thanks for sharing.
Another great video. Thank you for being a positive influence for any photographer that watches your videos and leading by example when it comes to maintaining harmony with the animals. There are too many out there that only care about getting the shot they want, and don’t care if they disturb the animals to do it. You are truly a credit to your profession.
What a way to start out 2022, thank you Morten. I usually watch your videos a few times. The first for the enjoyment then the next time, or two, to try and pick up techniques that I can use in my photography. Thank you for sharing your experiences with use. Hope to see you out there sometime.
Wow! I've never heard of these animals before. They live in a wild wild environment that I couldn't for a moment fathom possible. Thank you so much for "taking us with you" and showing us these beautiful animals.
Wonderful video Morten!! I just could feel the icy wind and your enthusiasm for photography/wilderness/animals. Thanks for you videos and brilliant photos, as they are little escapes from a daily routine and so inspiring!
I was looking forward to seeing this episode so much and it did not disappiont. The muskoxen looked so nice with their little dusting of ice. Already looking forward to the next one and your projects for this year! 😀 Happy New Year!
Happy new year Morton, I visited Norway and Sweden a couple of years ago during winter. Coming from an Arid part of Australia it was as different to me as had I gone to the moon. I absolutely love watching your videos, I’m amazed a TV network hasn’t picked you up. Keep them coming you are inspirational
Thank you again Morten for another great video. The places you visit are so wonderful and the pictures you take are great. You have inspired me so much to do wildlife photography and I greatly thank you for that. The effort you put into all your videos is exceptional, and you manage to do the filming work of a two-man team. Keep it up!
This was such a wonderful film, Morten. Your work just seems to get better and better. It's incredible that you can produce work of this quality on your own. Best wishes for 2022, and I hope it's filled with more great wildlife adventures for you.
Absolutely fabulous. Thank you so much for the incredible work you do, and for sharing these gorgeous creatures and photos with us. Musk oxen are so wonderful, and the baby was especially sweet. Happy New Year, and again, thank you!

Bro... Eres grande sigue así ❣️
Happy New Year!
It feels so out of place that these videos are on TH-cam rather than Netflix. Kudos Morten, always a joy!
Thank you so much James. What a compliment to get on a Sunday evening.
Agreed James. Amazing cinematic storytelling, editing, soundtrack and images. The whole package!
Better than most nature documentaries by a long shot!
Love your work.love love from India 🇮🇳🇮🇳🇮🇳🇮🇳🇮🇳🇮🇳
Has it tempted you to get the telephoto lens on and look for some wildlife James.
man that smile ! we can tell this guy found happiness
I am blown away, what an amazing person, your level of happiness in nature is off the charts.
Morten Hilmer in his element is there anything better.
When Morten says it is cold, then IT IS COLD! Amazing he kept staying there. It must have been freezing cold being stationery for so may hours
As a photographer and nature lover ,you are our inspiration
So inspiring, thank you for the chance to be there with you. I always leave your videos for the last thing I watch so I can sleep well.
Stunning, outstanding Morten
That calf nibbling on the mother’s fur was just too cute ☺️
utter sweetness
Wow... When you were heading towards your camp and look back to those animals sleeping peacefully. Amazing.
Morten, you make me shiver, you make me shake my head, but most of all you make me smile!
