Hi, my name is Victor, and I live in Germany. I’ve watched a lot of your videos and really enjoy your content on TH-cam. I also ordered the new 28mm lens based on your recommendation. While Light Lens Lab offers some interesting lenses, they don’t seem to operate like a serious manufacturer. After ordering the new 28mm, I haven’t received any updates on when or where my order will arrive, which has been frustrating. I hope you don’t run into issues promoting their products. To be honest, I regret placing this order, and I’d like to suggest being cautious about endorsing brands that you may not fully know. Thank you, and have a nice day.
Thanks so much for watching my videos and supporting the channel! I’m really sorry to hear about the trouble with your Light Lens Lab order. That sounds super frustrating, especially with the lack of updates. I’ll definitely keep your feedback in mind. I always try to recommend gear I genuinely enjoy, but it’s good to hear about the full experience from others like you who’ve ordered directly. Hope they get back to you soon with some good news! Thanks for reaching out, and let me know if there’s anything else I can help with.
Having used the Leitz 28mm Elmarit both v1 and v2 for more than a few decades, and just maybe made the mistake of selling my last v2 with the locking focus tab, I’m thinking of picking up one of these. The slight improved wide open edge sharpness and overall contrast, but still retaining a non aspherical look is what I’m looking for. And, it’s one of the most beautiful mount designs Leica made, which I have the muscle memory for in handling. Thanks for posting this, and nice images! Still deciding but seeing actual photos that challenge the lens optical design helps.
Like your presets. The color is amazing with that lens. Def an alternative to a Leica lens, I’m sticking w my 28mm cron without a lens hood. l like small form factors. Did you do the review at Batavia Cafe?
Thank you… It’s just lightroom.. (shameless plug - I have presets available 🤣🤣) The m8 is aps-h which is 1.33x crop. It’ll make the lens a 37mm ish lens. And I can’t imagine the colours from that ccd sensor. In fact, I need to borrow an m8 or m9 to try.. Thx for stopping by again
My question mark is that they took a vintage lens and made it modern, but with the old vintage design/size. I can´t really see why I should buy this instead of just keeping my Voigtlander Ultron 28 VM II? I was looking for a lens that took the character from the v1-2 but just improved the lens optics but keeped the lens character. Allmost like the things I´v read about the Leica Elmarit v.3. Never owned that lens myself though. Looking for something to complement my lenses with less contrast, like the 8E or the 50 rigid or my want-to-buy: 66 f1.2. This is´nt it, am I right?
I think the light lens lab is a solid choice. I chose not to give it back and bought the lens. What I’ve found is that the lens still has the character that I was looking for in a 28. With regard to what you are looking for, I don’t think remaking the v1 (2197861) is a good idea without improving certain aspects like the red fringing and adding a bit of sharpness, but I think it is very slightly overdone. I think the best way to go about this is to look for a store that carries a demo unit and try it out for yourself.. Thank you for stopping by.
@@robbiesumantri Yes, it does. Maybe not just what I was hoping for, but I´m glad that you found it to suit your needs. No, you´re absolutely right. It would not be a good idea not to improve the optics from v1/v2. Just wished that they kept more of its character somehow. If you would compare this lens to the Voigtlander Ultron VM II, how would you say it differs except one step in more light gathering. Thanks for another great video by the way! Good work!
Just a hobbyist, but I’ve noticed Leica lenses’ focus fall off makes things look very true to life. It is gradual in a nice way. Does this lens have that quality?
@ I know they are very different, but this or the Thypoch Simera if the main goal would be to create a “Leica look” at f2.8 in terms of smooth focus fall off transition and color?
@ if you want a new vintage lens, go for the light lens lab. If you want a modern look, go for the Thypoch. Both good lenses. I just got my affiliate link for light lens lab so if you don’t mind.. 🤣🤣
personally I prefer LLL polishing the designs a bit to account for modern element grinding. I dont think the 8E, for example, loses any magic and it's also a bit better out of the center than Leica's original. all to taste I guess.
This lens is not compatible with the M5 and the CL. Please do not get it for both those cameras!!
😢
It’s such a good lens 🤦♂️🤦♂️

Really appreciate you stopping by, thank you very much. Btw, this one has the locking focus tab too and yes it’s a very pretty lens.
Love seeing these market scenes. I’m digging that lens.
I suspect mine will be in my bag all the time.. thx for watching

Thank you so much!!! Yeah I did the review at Asemka Market but stopped over at Batavia to finish it up
How do you do the post work? Absolutely amazing job!
Second question is your thoughts about connecting to an M8?
Thank you… It’s just lightroom.. (shameless plug - I have presets available 🤣🤣)

Nice work on the close look at the colors in natural light.
Cheers dan 🙏🙏🙏

@MGraslund I’ve never tried that lens. Or any voigtlanders for that matter 🤣… I guess it’s time to start..
Thanks again

In my opinion, yes it does. I wish I could post photos in my reply to show it.
Thank you for watching
@ thank you for answering. That, the colors, vintage rendering (I hope since “pre-asp”?), and not too high price makes it interesting.
Light lens lab is not getting this lens back 😂😂

The back lit pics from the marked are crazy good 👏Good job
Thank you so much!! Backlit photos never fail 😂😂
I can't use this lens on my M5 but I think I'm still gonna get it for a future camera
Yeah it’s a shame that this is incompatible with the M5 and CL
Enjoying this format 🔥 hopefully I can join a photo walk in Jakarta one day
Thank you so much!! I’m liking this better. Hope to do better as this one is quite messy.
A must have for me as I love LLL lenses, great photos, great review. Thank you.
Thank you for stopping by… this one is a bit spesh… very underrated
@@robbiesumantri Just placed the order for this lens. :)
@@DannyChau7 sounds great dude!!! Which colour did you get? I’m sure you’ll enjoy the lens
@@robbiesumantri Black this time, I already have 35mm f2 and 50mm f2 in chrome which I love. 🙂
@DannyChau7 nice collection, and thank you for the purchase
Robbie, I need to go for a shoot with you in Jkt.
Photowalk happening very soon. Watch for it on the gram.. thank you for stopping by

I probably cherry picking 😂😂. Thank u for stopping by
So now we have old school players Voigtlander and Zeiss vs new school players Light Lens Lab and Thypoch
Competition is awesome. Thank you for watching
@@robbiesumantri quick question mp or m6?😁
@@forgiveness_denied Can’t go wrong with either.. I have an MP. I just prefer it
