    Yesterday I discovered Xbox cloud gaming - I had a 3 month game pass subscription with some hardware I bought and it blew me away. I just loaded Assassin's Creed Origins on my Samsung S20!
    Madness.

    For people with poor internet connections, I'd say no. Even with a good connection you can't own the games and its a generally worse experience if you have half decent hardware.

    • @JustinMiller_Tech
      @JustinMiller_Tech  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +16

      I agree - if the internet connection is poor, it's not going to be good, which is why I included minimum bandwidth requirement comparisons for each of these services. In my testing running over WiFi I didn't experience much lag aside from Amazon Luna.
      I did compare the performance to my home PC which has a 3070 and a Ryzen 5600x (I think that's half decent) and the GeForce Now setup outperformed it significantly in terms of resolution output and pure FPS performance.
      As for game ownership, GeForce now is one of the only services in this review which you actually do own your games and that was the main reason it was recommended at the end as my #1 choice

    • @WeeGeeX
      @WeeGeeX 18 วันที่ผ่านมา +3

      With geforce now you can own the games and when you buy a pc later install them locally and play. Doesnt fix the internet issue but just a bonus imo.

    There's a big catch with GeForce Now. It can stream in 4k 120Hz which feels fantastic imo but you need a good *decoder* on your device. For example smart TVs can't run the service at 4k 120hz at all. Most of them struggle with 1080p 60Hz and add massive input lag.
    Besides that I truly believe that it can replace someones PC or console in a lot of cases. Depending on your connection the input lag isn't too bad at all and they've come a long way. I can even play FPS games fine, but there is a slight hit in K/D so obviously not recommended for competitive players.

    • @JustinMiller_Tech
      @JustinMiller_Tech  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      Solid point on the TVs, I didn't have a compatible TV to try it out, but even using the Firestick Max to try Luna or Game Pass it wasn't all too ideal, so can definitely see how it would be lag similar to that.
      You're in the same boat as me here. Was surprised to see how much better some games compared to my actual PC. I've tried a few FPS games with GeForce and they all played great! I didn't feel like I was at a disadvantage due to latency, since it all felt pretty snappy. I'm not a competitive player by any means, but if you're sitting down to have some fun it's a great experience.

      @@JustinMiller_Tech you need a high end gaming tv to get the most out of cloud gaming, I have a samsung S95C OLED and works perfect at 4k 144hz, the only downside is you cant use M&K, only controller.

      I do feel like Xbox prioritizes latency above all else and for the most part the experience was very good. Having GFN as another option is pretty nice though. Especially if you want to try and scale up some games that are a little more casual to play. I wish they had some sort of bundle offering to offset paying for two

    Yeah I'm using GeforceNow at the moment. It's still not like a local machine. 120 fps stream feels rather like 60 fps with stutters here and there but still, it is a good option for singleplayer titles if you wait for new hardware to come out or just don't really care about high refresh gaming.

    To be fair to Luna and yes I'm a casual gamer you did not test Luna with the Amazon Controller that does not use Bluetooth and connects directly to WiFi which compared to all the other services which I've tried is the absolute best when it comes to Latency. And Luna is still at it's infancy when it comes to games. But yes with Luna use a Luna Controller you'll see the big difference

    Thanks for such detailed info. Although I do have a question..I have been a PC Gamer all my life..but recently I have decided to give console gaming a try..so my question is.. if I buy a game on steam (during those big steam sales obviously) which is a PC platform, will I be able to play that same game on Xbox as well for free via these cloud services?? Or do I have to purchase again ??.. please answer..

    • @JustinMiller_Tech
      @JustinMiller_Tech  หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Yes and no. In the sense of accessing another platform like GeForce Now from your Xbox via the browser, you could play your steam games on console, but the experience will not be that great for most games.
      If you want the console versions of the game from steam, that won't work and you'd have to buy it again.
      Option 3. Get game pass ultimate and you'd be able to play both console and PC games on Xbox, PC, and supported cloud gaming platforms.

    Can you play your own games when you’re away from home. For instance, would I be able to play COD multiplayer once I’m away from home based on Xbox profile? Or is it select games based on game pass with no multiplayer?

    • @JustinMiller_Tech

      You can play anywhere and it would include multiplayer. Like if you were on a cruise in the middle of the ocean you could still access your library with current save data and pick up where you left off at home.

      Which would you be curious about? I only really know of four of them.
      GFN would be the cheapest option since they are still running their 50% off promo where you can get ultimate tier for 9.99.
      Boosteroid Ultra recently came to USA, which would be around $19.84/month after Euro conversion.
      Both of those allow for Xbox Game Pass & Steam game synching, so you can add your existing library. While GFN also adds Epic Games and Ubisoft.
      Then you have options like Shadow that would run closer to $49.98/month after your first month to get 3070TI equivalent with an additional monthly expense for storage of those games up to $12 for 1TB
      The other would be AirGPU which is pay by the hour and by storage, which would add up pretty quick.

      Tough call. If you’ve had another generation of either console I’d say just go with that again for the new one.
      If this is your first console then I’d look over the game libraries (or test them with cloud gaming) in case there are any exclusives that you’d want to play. Or if the majority of people you’re playing with online are on a certain console, then get that one.

    • @JustinMiller_Tech

      My guess would be that the TV is struggling to decode and handle a high frame rate stream so GFN is compensating and dropping fps.
      With the cap you’re receiving a 30fps locked stream and the decoder is under less strain, so it runs more smoothly.
