    I bought one of these off Craigslist and have put about 500 miles on it. Love the bike and the wheelsize. The best hardtail for climbing and downhill!

    I would gather that the last person to comment and I have very different ideas about what a bike should be. The Stache 5 with the rigid fork is, possibly, the first bike that I've ever wanted to try from Trek. I'm still not at all sold on the Boost idea but I've been riding, almost exclusively, a custom 29+ for over a year now and my other bikes just hang in the garage. Well done Trek!

    I am 300 pounds (lost 50 pounds in 2016) and just got a 2017 Stache 7 29+ bike and loving it so far! What a fun bike and it really does help me through stuff I would not try on my 26" bikes. My only concern is the 28 spokes for a guy my size. And for urban riding, this bike is like a luxurious Bentley going over curbs, obstacles and other concrete rough stuff that would have required lots of weight/unweight to navigate on my 26" 2.4" bikes. I hope it holds up to my weight as I lose the weight... Thanks Trek for braving a new genre that gets some flak but opens doors to riders like me!

    Test rode a 2017 7 today and ordered a 2018 5 on the spot. So fun.

    I totally want to buy this exact model. The Manitou fork is sick looking. Those big beefy wheels look grippy and so much fun!! I'm sold on 29 inch wheels. I cant ever see buying any other wheel size. People dont realize when you go tubeless its so much less weight especially with a big 3 inch tire. I love people trying to hate on this, its because they just don't know...

    I have never considered even looking at a Trek but this bike actually has me looking. Full rigid seems like it would just be a hoot to ride. Something just plain fun and radically different than my XC FS race machine. Who knows... maybe a Trek is in my future. First time I have ever typed that statement.

    Well, I ended up getting one last November and my goodness is this an awesome bike. I knew I was getting a lot of benefits with my Stache 7, what I didn't know was that I was getting a bike that is truly fast. Up, down, corners and even on roads, it is on par with and in many cases significantly faster than the Trek Superfly it replaced. (which was a super fast bike already)

    We all select our bikes of choice for each riding condition, it's hard for one bike to do it all. I have a fat bike for winter, a 26" trials bike for fun, a long travel FS 29er that can handle the rough stuff and just built a SS ROS 9 that kicks ass. I'm lucky with the fact I have multiple bikes for each type of terrain. I already preordered one for June delivery and I will end up building it up SS with a gates belt drive. After two seasons on my fat bike I appreciate the extra rubber on the ground. The 29 plus works for me, 27.5 plus would be great for the smaller riders.

    is it just me or does it seem like all these bikers lately feel their owed some kind of perfect bike, like why are you bashing trek for making a bike that you don't like? you don't have to buy it

    I had one since November. This bike can do it all! Very stable and climb really well. You have to ride to experience the difference. It's the MTB of the future. Trek, when are you guys going to have the FS?

    Looks like it would make a great bikepacking bike as well. I have a Trek Superfly with a beefier set up (you can check out my channel for a vid on the build) which is just a blast and this looks like it would be just that little bit more comfortable and little bit more stable in the rough stuff. I also have a long travel all mountain bike but there's just nothing quite like jumping on a hard tail. Thank you to Trek for staying with the Hardtail trail bike category.

    can I put the tire of 29-3.0 on fuel ex 7 29-25? would it fit the rim?

    • @trekbikes
      @trekbikes  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      No, that tire would be too wide.

    Aren´t those bikes slow? Correct me if Im wrong

    • @trekbikes
      @trekbikes  9 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      +Luis Alvarado We wouldn't say they're slow. If you're looking for an XC racing bike, take a look at the Top Fuel or Procaliber, both of which will be faster. The Stache is going to be better for recreational riders than the dedicated speed demons.

      Nine years later, how do you feel about Trek nowadays?
      I'm still rockin' a Stache 9.6 and feeling good about Trek (and Ritchey and Specialized and Surly) every day I ride.
