  • Jinx is one of the most integral characters to the story of Arcane. Some call her a monster, a villain, or as I see her, girl who' s merely lost her way trying to do good.

It's amazing how we forget how kids can really be. Jinx doesn't seem so outlandish when you consider how often kids would choose to burn the world down if they even had to share their toy with another kid, or if their parent said no to anything etc. We as real ppl are finding out very quickly this generation how much trauma even basic things parents do/say can cause - Jinx had the bad luck of being mentally ill and growing up with much worse. We get crazy paranoid if we suspect a partner is cheating, yet for Jinx she couldn't even trust Vi to pick her over anyone else. This show is just too good honestly...

I have noticed things about Arcane analysis, that I once noticed in the Ice and Fire fandom (In the book part) Over reliance to trope think. So many insists that the Gang would have escaped Silco, despite the monkey bomb clearly shown destroying Silco's stick piles of shimmer
Many media consumers tendency to look at story beats, instead of character actions/ Words and observing the Setting. From what I have seen you have avoided most of what make so many Arcane videos trite. But to offer my own insight. Powders bombs didn't work because Vander never gave her Catalysts or accelerants (Chemical definition) that could lead her to injure herself.
In Fiction talent often is depicting blossoming with minimal training, education, or practice. The opposite has been depicted for Powder with her accidentally killing her family when she utilizes and energy dense material for the first time. this I believe indicates Vander spent time investing in and informally educating Powder in the fields of mechanics and machine craft. The only other child in part one who is shown similar talent and education is Ekko who is apprenticed with Benzo (Who may or may not be his grandfather whether that be biological or adopted).
Silco would have likely sought out continuing education/apprenticeships, including firearms training, Gunsmiths (Which the Zaun seems not to under a firearms prohibition) Use of explosive ordinance, and the chemistry and and the electrical engineering that requires. Jinx is not covered in Scars, burns, missing any limbs or digits,(which would be the logical result of the untrained using explosives). Jinx can read blue prints as well as understand advance notes magic. Silco used a lot of resources to educate this girl and he uses her as an instrument for violence. Not unusual for his philosophy but a gross misuse of her talents and physiologically devastating to her stability.

A lovely character analysis for a very complicated character.

It makes all the more tragic by the Finale when Powder realizes that she is good enough as she is not as she was and that it is her Choice not her sister's on where she should sit. After she instinctively protected Vi and understood that Silco loved Jinx how she is. There was no turning back. She is Jinx. Vi may love Powder but, that innocent well intentioned Goof up is gone. "Because you're a Jinx,Mylo was Right". Vi unwittingly cements Powder's trauma. Who already had an anxious attachment Jt & abandonment issues because of the loss of her parents.Silco gave her unconditional acceptance and became what he hated, Vander. and ended up loving Jinx as a daughter. He would let the world burn as long as it meant keeping Jinx safe. Vi's sense of morality and lessons she learned from Vander would make Vi hesitate, she would end up doing what she thought was right, even if that meant losing her sister.

One more correction, Caitlyn does not have a gun in the scene where she meets Jinx. Many tend to forget the class aspects of Arcane, Sevika told her Vi was being accompanied by an enforcer. Whom might are the violent hands of Piltover, a group that brutalized the under city, killed their parents, and is the supposed enemy of the people of Zaun. Caitlyn is also a Kiriman a powerful clan that benefits form the labor of Zaun (Like all members of the ruling council) and gives nothing back except abuse. It's not as if Vi was accompanied by Seraphine, would trigger Jinx's trauma.
